Chapter 530 Call Her Auntie
Alice roared, "How can I stay calm? I can't calm down! If you take Charles away, it's like taking away my life!"
The head servant, feeling helpless, instructed his subordinates, "Take Mrs. Mitchell and Charles to the summer villa first. We'll ask Mr. Mitchell later if he wants Charles brought back."
Alice, still dissatisfied, said, "What? You're not planning to take Charles to the hospital? What if something happens to him on the way to the villa?"
The head servant replied, "Mrs. Mitchell, don't worry. I just checked, and Charles only has some external injuries. At the villa, we can get a local doctor to treat him."
Alice frowned then she demanded, "How can that be? How can we trust those country doctors? No, Charles needs to go to a proper hospital!"
This time, the head servant wasn't easily fooled, "Mrs. Mitchell, please understand our position. If you escape again, Mr. Mitchell will severely punish us. Let's go!"
With that, he signaled his men to pick up Charles and escorted Alice out of the apartment.
Alice was, of course, unhappy, but she knew that her old tricks wouldn't work anymore, so she didn't struggle with the servants.
However, she did gain some information from the head servant: Charles was still on Mr. Melville's mind, which she could use as leverage in the future. So, she absolutely couldn't let Charles be taken from her.
The next day.
When Katherine woke up, she realized she was lying in a hospital bed.
She remembered talking with Alex in the stairwell yesterday when she suddenly felt dizzy and passed out.
Alex must have had her admitted to the hospital. She lifted her heavy eyelids and glanced at the clock in the room; it was just past 8 AM.
Had she slept through the night?Where was Alex?
After waking up, Katherine turned her head, looking for Alex in the room.Instead of Alex, she saw Teresa dozing off in a chair by the bed.
When did Teresa get here?
Katherine propped herself up, making some noise that woke Teresa.
Teresa, realizing Katherine was awake, immediately widened her eyes, and said, "Katherine, you're awake! Don't move; let me help you!"
She quickly got up, carefully helping Katherine sit up and placing a cushion behind her.
Once Katherine was settled, she asked Teresa, "Why are you here? Where's Alex?"
Teresa shrugged while she replied, "Alex had to catch an early flight for a business trip. He called me to take care of you, saying Fiona isn't good at it, and he didn't trust her."
Katherine remembered Alex mentioning he'd be busy with trips both domestically and internationally.
But he left without telling her!
Seeing Katherine frown in disappointment, Teresa quickly explained, "Katherine, don't blame Alex for not telling you. He saw you were sleeping soundly and didn't want to wake you."
Katherine looked calm, not angry, just a bit disappointed as she spoke, "Did he say how long he'd be gone?"
Teresa shook her head, clueless, and explained, "Alex didn't mention when he'll return; he just told me to stay with you until he gets back and not let Fiona upset you."
Katherine responded softly, "Oh."
At that moment, Fiona's annoyed voice rang out, "Who's going to upset her? I've already accepted her, okay?"
Hearing Fiona's voice, Katherine and Teresa looked towards the door.
Fiona walked in, hands on her hips, looking annoyed as she complained, "Alex is really something, treating me like an evil stepmother!"
Teresa rolled her eyes, mocking, "Maybe you should reflect on your past actions that made Alex feel you were worse than an evil stepmother?"
Fiona reminded of her past behavior towards Katherine, felt ashamed and couldn't respond.
Katherine, sensing the tension between the two girls, interjected, "Is there anything to eat? I'm hungry!"
Teresa answered, "Yes!"
Fiona replied, "Yes!"
They spoke in unison, then glared at each other.
Teresa said, "Katherine, my mom got up early to make you some porridge and nourishing dishes. I'll get them for you!"
With that, Teresa went to get the food box.
Taking the opportunity, Fiona stepped forward with the food box Sandra had sent, and said happily, "Hey! Katherine, this is the breakfast Grandma asked me to bring you! Eat this! Don't eat food from outsiders!"
Katherine remained silent.
Teresa returned, nudging Fiona aside with her hip, and retorted, "Who are you calling an outsider? Alex specifically asked me to take care of Katherine! And he told me not to let you near her unless it was necessary! Fiona, I suggest you know your place, or I'll call Alex!"
Fiona put down the food box, annoyed, and shot back, "Teresa, aren't you an outsider to the Melville family? What's wrong with me calling you that? Even if Alex said not to let me near Katherine, I'm here on Grandma's behalf to visit and bring her breakfast! Why can't Katherine eat the breakfast Grandma prepared?"
Teresa snorted, "Because Alex put me in charge of taking care of Katherine! You can leave the breakfast from Mrs. Melville, but you need to leave. Don't get in our way!"
Fiona snorted back, "Teresa, by seniority, you should call me Aunt! Is this how the Harris family teaches you to speak to elders?"
Teresa gritted her teeth, "You..."
Seeing Teresa at a loss for words, Fiona felt victorious, taunting her, "Come on! Call me Aunt, let me hear it."
Teresa's face turned red with anger. She was indeed younger than Fiona by seniority! So frustrating!
Katherine, about to mediate, was interrupted by a gentle male voice. "Ms. Melville, you sure are sharp-tongued! Forcing others to call you Aunt at such a young age, aren't you afraid of being called old?"
Hearing the man's voice, Teresa turned and felt a surge of excitement.
Fiona frowned, looking to see who was meddling, only to find a very handsome man entering the room with a charming smile.
