Chapter 225 Alex Really Has a Son
Watching Alex's tall, handsome figure, Katherine felt her heart flutter.
Seeing the person she wanted to see most suddenly appear was amazing.
She smiled and jogged toward him, thinking about how to share the results of her recent check-up.
Frank wanted to follow and support Katherine, but Ambrosia grabbed his arm to stop him. "What are you doing following her now?"
Frank shrugged and snorted, "I'm just worried she might trip if she walks too fast!"
Ambrosia adjusted her gold-rimmed glasses. "Don't worry, Katherine's not that clumsy!"
Frank crossed his arms, eager to see Alex's reaction upon learning about Katherine's pregnancy.
As she got closer, Katherine called out, "Alex."
Before she could finish, a toddler who had just learned to walk stumbled out of the pediatric clinic and hugged Alex's leg, mumbling, "Daddy."
Katherine stopped in her tracks, her smile fading instantly.
Daddy?
Did she hear wrong? Did that child just call Alex "Daddy"?!
He bent down, picked up the little boy, who was just over a year old, and asked softly, "Where's your mommy?"
Katherine had briefly doubted if she had mistaken someone else for Alex, but upon hearing his voice, she knew it was him for sure.
Alex had a son?
At that moment, Scarlett walked out of the pediatric clinic.
She approached Alex and softly said, "The doctor said the baby is fine; just a bit of a cold causing the fever. Keep him warm at home and give him some medicine, and he'll be fine. I'll go to the pharmacy to get the medicine now. You watch the baby and wait for me here."
"Go ahead," he responded indifferently.
Then, Scarlett took the prescription and headed to the pharmacy.
Katherine stood still, silently watching everything unfold.
Alex's movements while holding the child were skilled and natural, lacking the awkwardness of a new father!
This situation was unexpected, and Frank and Ambrosia exchanged uneasy glances before walking over to check Katherine's expression.
Katherine's face was calm, showing no obvious emotion, quiet and composed.
Frank, however, was a bit indignant. "Katherine! Alex actually has a kid behind your back! Wasn't he always single before you?"
Ambrosia snorted sarcastically, "Being single doesn't stop men from fooling around! Men, none of them are any good!"
Frank frowned in disagreement. "If you want to insult men, fine, but don't include me!"
Ambrosia ignored Frank and looked at Katherine with concern, worried that Katherine, who had just found out she was pregnant, couldn't handle this blow.
Katherine's face remained emotionless, neither hurried nor impatient, as she took out her phone and called Alex.
Sometimes, what you see with your eyes is different from what you think. She needed to confirm with him before making any decisions.
Katherine's call went through.
On the other end, he held the child in one arm and answered the phone with the other, his voice deep and husky. "What's up?"
Katherine quietly watched the man's every move in the pediatric area and called out, "Alex."
He said, "Katherine, do you miss me?"
She admitted it.
Alex paused, a bit surprised that she would so readily admit to missing him.
Before this, Katherine had never directly answered whether she missed him, nor had she ever called him so proactively.
He couldn't help but chuckle, "I'll be back in a few days. Things here aren't finished yet. Be good and wait for me."
Katherine's voice lost its warmth. "Oh."
He didn't say anything more and hung up, busy comforting the little one in his arms who was searching for his mommy.
Listening to the short, busy tone from the other end of the phone, Katherine's eyes turned completely cold, a self-mocking smile forming on her lips.
How ridiculous.
She always thought she was rational and clear-headed, that she would never be a love-struck fool, and that she would never unquestioningly believe in love or men.
But the truth proved that she was just an ordinary person after all!
When Scarlett showed her the scar on her abdomen and mentioned having a child with Alex, Katherine didn't take it to heart at all. She never doubted Alex's character for a second.
She just thought it was a low-level lie from Scarlett to drive a wedge between her and Alex.
She believed absolutely that Alex wasn't the kind of irresponsible man.
But just now, he lied to her.
He was clearly in Janetrick but claimed he had yet to return.
So, could she deduce that Alex might not have gone abroad at all in the past half-month but had been staying with Scarlett and their child?
Was it necessary?
If he wanted to be with Scarlett, he didn't need to deceive her, to do it behind her back!
He could have just said it outright, and she wouldn't have interfered.
From the beginning, their relationship was merely a simple cooperation, and she had no right to interfere.
If Alex hadn't suddenly said he wanted to start over and be serious with her, she wouldn't have had any illusions about him!
She knew that because the Melville family and the Mitchell family had some unknown grudges, the elders of the Melville family were worried that Alex and Scarlett would get too entangled, so Jackie was anxious to force Alex to marry another woman as soon as possible.
Seeing their child today, Katherine finally realized that he had never let go of Scarlett. His previous coldness and lack of emotion towards her were probably just to mislead the elders of the Melville family, and she foolishly believed it!

A passerby remarked, "That man holding the child over there is so handsome!"
A second passerby added, "He really is! I just saw his wife too, she's very beautiful. She must be getting medicine for the child now!"
A third passerby said, "Their child is so cute too! The whole family is so good-looking!"
Someone else chimed in, "With parents that good-looking, how could the child not inherit it?"
Katherine listened to the surrounding discussions, lowered her eyes, and took a deep breath.
Frank gritted his teeth, unable to bear it. "Katherine, don't be sad. I'll go beat up that jerk Alex for you right now!"
Katherine waved her hand, speaking calmly, "There's no need for that. Let's go."
"But..." Frank's fists clenched tightly, extremely frustrated!
Ambrosia pulled him and advised, "Calm down, don't cause trouble for Katherine!"
At this moment, Alex seemed to sense something and turned around with the child in his arms.
