Chapter 441 Creating Stories
"Bernard..."
Scarlett collapsed, sobbing uncontrollably. Everything she'd worked for was ruined by Katherine today!
Even Bernard turned on her. What leverage does she have left for the future?
Alice watched helplessly as the once-beloved heiress became despised and even got slapped. She felt both heartache and anxiety for Scarlett.
She glared at Edwin, who hadn't stepped in. "Edwin, say something! Bernard hit Scarlett, and you, as her father, don't even care?"
Edwin sat calmly, his slightly aged features still naturally handsome and elegant. He looked more weary and accepting than in his younger days.
"Your daughter is just like you, willing to do anything to get what she wants. You reap what you sow. Everything that happened today is your own doing."
Alice's face twisted with dissatisfaction. "Edwin! How can you say that? Haven't I been devoted to you and our family all these years? Can't I get a kind word from you?"
Edwin didn't want to speak anymore. He half-closed his eyes, lost in thought.
He was recalling Katherine's actions. Did she remind him of Claire in her youth, or was it just his imagination?
Alice couldn't control her emotions. "Edwin! I'm talking to you, and you're not even looking at me! Why are you always so indifferent? Even if you have no patience for me, at least act like a father to Scarlett!"
Scarlett had already lost Bernard's trust and affection. Now, she could only rely on Edwin. "Dad! Do you misunderstand me too? Don't listen to Katherine. She's up to no good. She planned everything..."
"Enough!"
Sunny, weak and irritable, interrupted from his hospital bed.
He had never spoken to Alice and Scarlett like this before.
Scarlett was stunned. "Sunny, you..."
Alice scolded, "Sunny, why are you yelling? You scared Scarlett!"
Sunny was truly fed up. He was disgusted by Alice and Scarlett's unrepentant behavior!
The kind of people he despised the most turned out to be his closest family members?!
But he had no choice; they were his biological mother and sister!
Sunny shouted, "All of you, get out! Leave me alone! If you keep arguing, even if I don't die from illness, I'll be driven to death by your noise!"
Alice and Scarlett were both stunned.
Edwin didn't even frown. He calmly stood up, picked up his coat from the chair, and said, "Sunny, rest well. If you need anything, press the call button, and the nurse will come."
With that, Edwin walked out, saying to Alice, "If you want your son to be healthy, don't agitate him."
And with that, Edwin left.
Alice frowned, realizing Scarlett had lost favor in the Mitchell family, and their future now depended on Sunny.
So, she didn't dare upset Sunny further and pulled Scarlett out of the ward.
Outside the ward, they didn't see Edwin, just a few bodyguards Bernard had stationed at the door.
After her earlier breakdown, Scarlett calmed down but felt exhausted. She slumped on a bench, anxiously asking, "Mom, what do we do now? Even Bernard won't help me! Without the savior identity, Alex will never see me again..."
Alice was also thrown off by Katherine today, her mind a mess.
"Scarlett, I don't know either! After what Katherine did, our position in the Mitchell family is shaky. Your grandparents never liked me, and once they find out about the pomegranate juice incident, who knows what they'll do!"
"Mom, are we just going to take this? I'm not willing to! Ever since I followed you into the Mitchell family, I've listened to you, kept up my obedient image, imitated Laura, and tried to please Bernard and the grandparents. I've earned their affection, and now it's all ruined? Most importantly, my relationship with Alex is gone!"
Alice agreed they couldn't just take it. "Scarlett, calm down! Think carefully, doesn't Katherine have any weaknesses?"
Scarlett thought hard and shook her head. "That bitch really doesn't seem to have any weaknesses. She has no family, no constraints. Growing up in the countryside, she's been through everything! She always escapes my traps and turns them against me!"
Alice's eyes lit up. "She grew up in the countryside. Do you know where exactly?"
Scarlett shook her head. "No, but it's not hard to find out. We can send someone to investigate. Why do you ask?"
Alice pondered. "She has no weaknesses here because she didn't grow up here. We should investigate her past! Everyone has some dark history. Even if she doesn't, we can create some!"
Scarlett's tear-stained eyes lit up. "Mom, you mean..."
Alice and Scarlett nodded knowingly. "Scarlett, it's hard to turn things around in the Mitchell family, so we need a new approach.”
“Everything Katherine said today was well-founded, and we can't refute it. The only way now is to make her character questionable, to turn her into a complete fraud so no one trusts her!"
Scarlett's hope reignited. "Mom, send someone to handle this! This time, we need to permanently nail Katherine to the pillar of shame to ease my hatred!"
