Chapter 449 Take Responsibility for My Marriage

Jonathan was speechless and turned to Katherine, who sipped her coffee, looking relaxed.

Jonathan raised an eyebrow. "Katherine, after this, I'll never find a wife. Who'd want a guy with an incurable contagious disease?"

Katherine shrugged. "You asked me to help you ditch your blind date. I just did that; your future's on you!"

Jonathan stroked his chin, smiling. "No way! If I can't find a wife because of this, you'll have to take responsibility!"

Katherine glanced at him, bored. "How? I'm already married!"

Jonathan squinted, his tone low. "That's fine. I'm not in a rush. I can wait for you to get divorced and then take responsibility."

Katherine thought he was joking and laughed. "What if I never get divorced?"

Jonathan smiled knowingly. "You will."

He said it so seriously, it didn't sound like a joke.

Katherine raised an eyebrow. "Why?"

Jonathan's lips curved into a mysterious smile. "Because I know Alex. We've known each other since we were kids."

So, because he knew Alex, Jonathan thought Alex would definitely divorce her one day.

Katherine scoffed. "Really? If I do get divorced, you wouldn't mind a divorced woman?"

Most men would mind a divorced woman, especially their friend's ex.

Jonathan's eyes sparkled mischievously. "If it were another woman, I'd mind. But if it's you, I'd be thrilled. After all, I knew you second!"

Katherine felt like she was hearing a cheesy pickup line. "Give it a rest! It's not funny!"

Jonathan's expression turned serious, dropping his usual playful smile. "No, I'm serious! Katherine, if you and Alex get divorced..."

"Katherine, can you help me decide which one looks better?"

Fiona suddenly came over, carrying several bags, frowning when she saw Jonathan next to Katherine and heard him say, "If you and Alex get divorced..."

Katherine stayed calm, sipping her coffee, and looked at the bags in Fiona's hands. "They're all nice. The left one suits you better; the colors of the middle and right ones are more mature."

Fiona didn't care about the bags; her attention was on Jonathan. "Jonathan, what are you doing here?"

Jonathan smiled. "Just passing by and decided to stop in."

He didn't mention he had just brought his blind date here; it wasn't necessary.

Fiona frowned, thinking Katherine was attracting too much attention. "Katherine, come here!"

Katherine didn't indulge Fiona and didn't move. "What do you want? Just say it!"

Fiona wanted to call Katherine over to keep her away from Jonathan, but Katherine didn't budge, making Fiona even more annoyed.

Unable to get Katherine to move, Fiona angrily raised the bag in her left hand. "I want this one!"

Katherine calmly handed her a gold card. "Go ahead and swipe it; no password."

Fiona snatched the card and glared at Katherine before heading to pay.

Watching Fiona leave, Jonathan raised an eyebrow. "That's not Alex's card."

Katherine was curious. "How do you know?"

Jonathan smiled. "Alex only has black cards, not gold ones."

Black cards were for top-tier clients, not just anyone with money. In contrast, gold cards were for those with a certain amount of assets.

Jonathan sat up straighter. "You used your own money to buy Fiona a bag? This place is pricey!"

Katherine responded calmly, "I promised her a bag. I could use Alex's card, but I don't like taking credit for someone else's generosity."

Jonathan's eyes were subtle. "Seems like you keep your money and Alex's money pretty separate."

Katherine frowned slightly; Jonathan always seemed to find issues in her relationship with Alex.

Not wanting to engage, Katherine stopped talking and waited for Fiona to return so they could eat.

But Jonathan didn't intend to stop. "Katherine, do you think you know Alex well enough?"

Katherine gave him a disdainful look. "I wouldn't say I know him very well, but I'll get to know him better."

Jonathan laughed. "No, you don't know him at all. If you did, you wouldn't have married him."

Katherine frowned, annoyed. "I advise you not to make assumptions or speculate about others' intentions. It's not a likable habit!"

She put down her coffee cup and stood up, heading to find Fiona.

Sitting there, Jonathan would just keep sowing discord, which was annoying!

She wondered how Alex could have such a friend; he looked refined but was full of schemes.

She shouldn't have helped this guy ditch his blind date in the first place!

Katherine found Fiona, who was holding the newly bought bag, ready to leave the store.

Jonathan followed them, asking politely, "Where are you two going? I'll give you a ride."

Fiona, happy about the bag, frowned when she saw Jonathan being attentive again, watching Katherine's reaction closely.

Katherine responded coldly, "No need, we're just going to eat nearby."

Jonathan clearly didn't intend to give up. "Can I join you for a meal?"

Katherine looked at him disdainfully. "Didn't you just eat with Ms. Keller? Don't overeat!"

Jonathan shrugged, knowing he wasn't welcome.

With Fiona there, he decided to let it go.

If it were just Katherine, he would definitely insist on joining them.

So, Jonathan took out his phone and waved it at Katherine. "Alright, I won't bother you ladies today! Katherine, let's meet up another day!"
