Chapter 347 She Is Rich
"I have a tiny share in the Crescent Group," she said cautiously.
Alex squinted. A tiny share or a ton?
Since finding out Katherine and Frank were living together, he'd had Leander Nelson dig into the Crescent Group.
The Crescent Group had a clean slate, starting from scratch. It quickly became a top domestic company, almost rivaling the big family groups in Janetrick. Its power was impressive.
But their president, Ambrosia and VP, Frank weren't the real bosses. Sixty percent of the shares were held by a mysterious major shareholder who never showed up.
That major shareholder was said to be a young girl.
Alex had always known Katherine wasn't simple. Learning she held the largest share of the Crescent Group didn't surprise him.
With her education, skills, and ambition, it made sense she'd start some businesses young.
What surprised him was that Katherine was starting to tell him the truth.
She used to lie a lot, always trying to keep him in the dark.
Now, whatever her reasons, it meant he could get closer to the real Katherine and hold onto her tighter.
If she ran away again, he wouldn't be left clueless.
While Alex pondered, he kept washing her hair. His long fingers gently guided the water, making sure none got in her eyes.
Seeing Katherine nervously watching him, afraid he might get mad?
Alex's heart softened. For all her lies and hiding, he suddenly let go of his anger.
What could he do if he didn't let it go?
Hit her?
He couldn't bear to.
He let it go and teased, "No wonder Ms. Galatea never cared about money. Turns out you're loaded, a secret little rich lady."
Katherine rolled her eyes. "Who said I don't like money? Who would ever think they have too much? You, as a capitalist, should know that 'money makes the world go round,' right?"
Alex squinted. "Money makes the world go round?"
Katherine nodded. "Yeah! Isn't it true?"
Alex's hand, combing her hair, suddenly cupped the back of her head. "Then, if I give you all my money, can I buy Ms. Galatea to make my world go round?"
Katherine's eyes lit up, a bit greedy. "All your money? How much?"
She actually asked for the amount?
Alex wasn't bluffing. "The entire Melville Group, including me, is yours."
He looked at her, sincere and serious, not joking.
His earnest gaze startled Katherine. After a long pause, she said, "That's too much. I can't accept it! Even if I took all your assets, I couldn't make your big world go round!"
He casually tossed the showerhead aside, cupped her wet head with both hands, sat on the edge of the tub, and leaned in, whispering in a deep, seductive voice.
"You can make it go round. Just give me a little push, and I'll start spinning on my own."
The sudden closeness left Katherine stunned, her breath catching.
She didn't even know how the kiss happened.
Her mind buzzed and went blank.
All she could hear was the running water and his urgent yet steady breathing.
She felt like she was being swallowed into a black hole, powerless to resist, surrounded by unbearable heat.
The water in the tub had cooled, but now it was warm again because he had turned on the hot water, slowly replacing the cold.
The sound of the dual water flow woke her up.
Alex, worried she might catch a cold, had come in to change the hot water.
At first, Katherine instinctively pushed against his shoulders, rejecting his sudden move. But slowly, she felt conquered. Her wet arms unconsciously wrapped around his neck.
No longer resisting, she faced her feelings and began to respond to his kiss, even eager to match his passion.
Their wild heartbeats, intertwined breaths, and wet friction made them wish they could merge into one.
Katherine, with her arms around his neck, suddenly had a naughty thought. She deliberately pulled him sideways, causing him to fall into the tub!
There was a loud splash!
He fell into the tub, water splashing everywhere, making the bathroom look flooded.
After the shocking fall, Alex propped his hands on either side of her head, his body suspended in the warm water, careful not to press down on her.
He looked down at her, brows furrowed in stern reprimand. "Are you crazy? What if I pressed on your belly?"
Katherine blinked, eyes sparkling, face showing the mischief and joy of a successful prank. "You went crazy first! Who told you to kiss me?"
Seeing her cute yet annoying expression, Alex's pupils contracted, his throat dry. He kissed her again, passionately entangling, exchanging their scorching breaths.
This troublesome girl was driving him crazy!
Katherine punched him. "Again!"
Embracing in the water, they felt even closer, seamlessly intimate.
If they kept kissing like this, he'd soon lose control.
Alex regained his composure, propped up his broad body, and eventually separated from her, still reluctant.
His large hand gently patted her head, steadying his breath, and he softly coaxed, "Alright, get up, wash up, and get dressed. If you keep messing around, you'll catch a cold."
Katherine, seemingly drunk from the kiss, her face flushed, eyes misty, tightly gripped his wet shirt. "Don't!"
His Adam's apple bobbed, and he couldn't help but peck her lips again. "Don't what? Hmm?"
Katherine's voice, hoarse from lack of oxygen, said, "Don't leave."
