Chapter 195 Is the Mitchell family's Tradition to Offer Oneself in Marriage?

Alex's eyes turned cold and hard. "I haven't forgotten Scarlett's kindness, and I will definitely repay it."

"Is that so?" Bernard sneered, glancing at Katherine beside him with mocking eyes.

Alex seemed to have nothing to argue about on this matter. Because Scarlett had been kind to him, he had always been somewhat courteous to the Mitchell family.

Without saying more, he took Katherine's hand and led her away. "Let's go, we're going home."

Katherine, however, did not move. She tugged on his large hand, signaling him to wait for a moment.

Alex paused, frowning slightly as he looked down at Katherine, asking, "What's wrong?"

Katherine calmly and resolutely looked at the mocking Bernard and said, "Mr. Mitchell, may I ask, is it a family tradition of yours to expect someone to marry you just because you saved their life?"

Bernard squinted his eyes and then questioned, "What are you trying to say?"

Katherine smiled and snapped, "Scarlett saved Melville's life, so he must marry your sister? And if he doesn't, he's ungrateful?"

Bernard remained silent, waiting for her to continue.

Katherine chuckled slightly, raising her eyebrows, "Well, I saved Mr. Mitchell once, didn't I? According to your family's logic, should he marry me? If so, you'd have to call me Grandma, wouldn't you?"

Bernard had never heard such audacious words before, and his face changed dramatically. "What did you say?"

Sunny was dumbfounded, wondering what nonsense Katherine was spouting.

Theodore and the other young men were stunned, almost bursting out laughing. They had never seen anyone speak to Bernard like this, and today was truly enlightening for them.

Alex frowned deeply, looking at Katherine with a complicated expression. He didn'tlike the analogy she had just made.

Katherine continued to address Sunny, "What I mean is, saving someone should be genuine kindness, not to seek credit, morally coerce the saved, or gain some benefit! Seeing someone in trouble and lending a hand is just a common act, something most compassionate people would do."

She added, ''I believe someone as understanding and kind as Mitchell's sister wouldn't have saved my Melville just because he was a beauty, right?"

Alex raised an eyebrow. The term 'my Melville' warmed his heart. It sounded nice.

However, being called beauty by a girl?

Alex found it both amusing and exasperating.

This girl, who exactly was she trying to annoy?

Sunny's usually gentle face turned grim, and he was left speechless.

Katherine continued, "Mr. Melville has never been an ungrateful person, and I don't appreciate you saying that about him! Sure, Scarlett once saved Mr. Melville's life, and he is grateful. Mr. Melville has always addressed your sister. One phone call and Alex would rush to save her. Another call from your sister could summon such a distinguished man to deliver a car. He has always taken responsibility for any issues your sister Scarlett had, hasn't he?''

She concluded. ''If Scarlett needed blood or an organ, I believe Mr. Melville would donate without hesitation. But if you morally coerce his feelings like this, it makes the Mitchell family look very low!"

Bernard was silent.

For the first time in his life, he was at a loss for words.

Billy had never seen a young woman criticize Mr. Mitchell like this. He was angry and wanted to defend Mr. Mitchell, but without his permission, he didn't dare act rashly.

Katherine wasn't finished. She smiled faintly and continued, "By the way, Mr. Mitchell, isn't your sister's name 'Laura' in the dictionary?

So it's a common name. Why can't I use it? Words in the dictionary are for everyone to use; no word is more noble than another. You have no right to decide which words I can or cannot use! Words were invented by humans long ago, not by you or the Mitchell family! Also, I don't need or want to associate with the Mitchell family. If I need to flaunt connections, the Melville family is a much more legitimate one! It's you, the Mitchell family, that should stay away from me!"

Katherine finished her sharp speech, stretched lazily, and then sweetly took Alex's arm. "Alex, let's go. I'll treat you to something delicious! There's a nice Japanese restaurant upstairs I just found!"

Alex snapped back to reality, frowning. "You're treating me?"

Katherine nodded righteously and asked, "I'm using your money to treat you. Do you have any objections?"

Alex smiled broadly, his lips curling up. "Not at all."

With that, they naturally turned and walked away, heading up the escalator together.

Leander followed behind them, intentionally delaying by a few seconds to keep a respectful distance.

Bernard, left behind and berated by Katherine, looked very displeased. The man who had been elegant and composed most of his life was now visibly upset, with veins bulging on his forehead.

Billy, feeling uneasy, cautiously approached. "Sir, that Mrs. Melville is really sharp-tongued. She was rude to you because she has Mr. Melville backing her."

Bernard closed his eyes, took a deep breath to steady himself, and then opened his eyes coldly, glaring at the source of today's trouble—his useless brother, Sunny. "Let's go!"

Sunny was terrified, keeping his head down. His face still stung from the slap.

Bernard had always been strict and cold towards him, but this was the first time he had hit him. Sunny felt resentful but didn't dare to show it, following silently behind.

As everyone left, Theodore came to his senses and approached the three girls. "Ella, you saw it. Sunny is just a show-off. He acts like a coward in front of his brother, just like a mouse in front of a cat!"

Ella, still reluctant to part from her crush, Sunny, rolled her eyes at Theodore. "If he's no good, are you any better? You always make sneaky moves; I hate sore losers! Hmph!"

Theodore felt aggrieved. "I was just..."

Ella ignored him and called her friends to leave quickly.

Theodore was very upset, watching his crush Ella leave so heartlessly, clenching his fists tightly.

A sidekick came over to comfort him. "Theodore, I bet Sunny will get an earful when he gets home today. We didn't lose entirely!"

Theodore ground his teeth and spat on the ground. "I'll deal with him when school starts!"

Meanwhile, Scarlett arrived at the Galatea family, and rang the doorbell.

Sherry answered the door.

Seeing a beautifully dressed woman standing outside, Sherry, who was naturally jealous, immediately disliked her. "Who are you looking for?"

Scarlett smiled politely and inquired, "Is Katherine here?"

Hearing Katherine's name, Sherry frowned even more. "Who are you? Why are you looking for Katherine?"

Scarlett smiled and then stated, "I'm not looking for Katherine. I'm here to see you. You probably don't know about Katherine's marriage, do you? I'm here to tell you the truth."

Sherry was shocked and then asked, "Marriage? What marriage? Did that little bitch Katherine get married?"
