Chapter 190 Katherine, Do You Like Alex?

Sunny scratched his head and stated, "Because Scarlett said that if no one steps up to take responsibility for this, it will deepen the conflict between the Mitchell family and the Melville family. That would affect her relationship with Alex."

As he spoke, Sunny's voice grew softer and softer.

He seemed to realize that talking about his sister and Alex's affair in front of Katherine, Alex's legitimate wife, was not quite appropriate.

Katherine, however, didn't mind at all and casually curled her lips. "If your dear sister Scarlett asked you to die for her, would you do it?"

Sunny nodded without hesitation. "Of course!"

Katherine gave him a thumbs up in admiration. "Impressive!"

Even though Katherine was praising him, Sunny felt something was off. He sensed that Katherine's 'praise' had a double meaning and wasn't entirely positive.

Unconvinced, he caught up with Katherine and added, "Katherine, what do you mean by that? Scarlett is the best person in the world to me. If Scarlett needed me, I would die for her without hesitation. My life isn't as important as Scarlett's!"

Katherine just chuckled lightly and said nothing more.

Scarlett was reckless, manipulating and brainwashing her own brother.

If Scarlett had truly been the best person in the world to Sunny, she wouldn't have let her own brother take the blame for something he didn't do, to bear a responsibility and injustice that shouldn't fall on a minor.

Moreover, if the matter had nothing to do with the Mitchell family, there was no need for someone from the Mitchell family to take the fall!

Unless she was guilty and knew exactly who was responsible, and she was afraid her facade would crumble if the truth came out. So, she tricked Sunny into taking the blame to stop further investigation.

In fact, the mastermind was Scarlett herself!

Scarlett had a knack for manipulation, making everyone around her utterly devoted, willing to be her shield, and even commit wrongdoings for her. Meanwhile, she could walk away unscathed and still appear innocent and pitiful, a skill beyond mere two-facedness.

Katherine was so sure of Scarlett's duplicity and low character, not just because Scarlett tricked Sunny into taking the blame today but also because of what Frank had found.

Frank discovered that there were 1,203 people named Sarah in Janetrick, none of whom had returned to Janetrick on the day someone publicly confessed love at Whispering Ripple.

And there was an issue with the Century Bank LED love confession order. It was paid in cash. Typically, for such a large order, no one would pay in cash, as carrying that much cash was inconvenient.

According to the staff, a woman wearing a baseball cap, sunglasses, and a mask placed the order. She was very decisive, set the time and content, and paid in cash on the spot.

Coincidentally, that same evening, Scarlett had a record of buying a cup of coffee in a mall opposite Century Bank.

Frank hacked into the coffee shop's surveillance system and retrieved the footage from that day. Sure enough, Scarlett appeared in the video, which he sent to Katherine.

In the surveillance video from that evening, Scarlett sat alone by the window, watching the LED love confession outside Century Bank. Her innocent, delicate face showed a sinister and cunning smile, a stark contrast to her harmless public persona!

This proved that Scarlett orchestrated the public confession that night, creating the illusion that Alex was deeply in love with her.

Scarlett's return was clearly well-prepared. Although she had only been back a few days, she had already caused so much trouble.

Katherine would have to keep a close eye on Scarlett in the future.

As they strolled to the bus stop, a bus arrived. Katherine snapped out of her thoughts, jogged a few steps, and hopped on the bus, finding a window seat.

Sunny followed her onto the bus, but it was his first time ever taking a bus. He didn't know he had to swipe a card first and was awkwardly reminded by the loud driver to go back and scan the code to pay.

After paying, Sunny sat next to Katherine with an arrogant expression on his teenage face.

Katherine ignored him, looking out the window at the slowly passing scenery, feeling quite good.

Sunny frowned at Katherine for a while before asking in confusion, "Katherine, you're Mrs. Melville now. Why are you still taking the bus?"

Katherine leaned back in her seat, looking relaxed. "What's wrong with taking the bus? Isn't it good?"

Sunny glanced around the bus. It was generally clean and spacious, not crowded at this time in the afternoon.

"It's not bad, but it's definitely not as comfortable and convenient as a private car. You can get in it right outside your door and be taken wherever you want to go without waiting at a bus stop!" He answered.

Katherine slowly turned to Sunny and remarked, "On the contrary, I don't like having a car following me around all day. The bus is convenient for me. Mr. Mitchell, we are not from the same world, and we have no common language. Why bother following me on the bus? Get off at the next stop and go home."

Sunny stubbornly said, "I won't get off. I'll follow you!"

Katherine didn't mind and said, "It's up to you."

Sunny had no intention of staying quiet. After thinking for a moment, he said, "Katherine, since you know we're not from the same world, then you must understand the gap between you and Alex!"

Katherine nodded frankly and answered, "I do."

Sunny lifted his chin arrogantly and then advised, "Then why don't you give up? Alex is not suitable for you!"

Katherine raised her eyebrows and smiled. "If he's not suitable for me, is he suitable for Scarlett?"

Sunny said firmly, "Of course! Scarlett and Alex are well-matched. They are both talented, and beautiful, and they share the same values! They grew up in similar environments and had similar experiences. They're a perfect match! Even though our families have some conflicts now, I believe they can be resolved someday!''

He added, ''But you and Alex, you don't even share the same spending habits. You probably don't have much topic to talk about, right? You're not suitable for each other at all!"

Katherine thought of Alex's flawless face and rested her chin in her hand, saying leisurely, "No, Mr. Melville is different from you all. He wouldn't look down on me for taking the bus. He wouldn't think I'm inferior just because I'm from the countryside. Although he has his own pampered and out-of-touch issues, he knows that's his problem and wouldn't blame me. He's on a different level than you shallow people!"

Sunny was starting to doubt his perception, feeling that the man Katherine described didn't seem like the cold-hearted, aloof Alex he knew.

He answered, "Hmph! I'm not shallow. I'm just stating objective facts!"

Katherine smiled. "Whatever floats your boat."

Sunny glared at her with dissatisfaction. "So, Katherine, do you like Alex now?"

Katherine paused. Her heart skipped a beat. "Did I say that?"
