Chapter 18 Katherine is really beautiful

Katherine glanced at Frank and tilted her head.

Years of understanding made Frank immediately grasp Katherine's meaning.

He cleared his throat and casually touched the Bluetooth earpiece he usually wore on his left ear, then calmly walked past Alex and Katherine.

He deliberately lowered his voice, pretending to be on a phone call.

"Katherine, it was a bit awkward just now. I was scolding Alex, and it turns out he overheard me! Yes, he's the one who took the painting you liked! Well, let's just let him have it! Lotus's paintings are not limited to just 'Late Autumn.' We can buy others in the future!"

After saying that, Frank left.

Katherine widened her eyes and looked at Alex, innocently raising an eyebrow.

"Sir, it seems like that person was insulting you!"

Alex shifted his gaze back to Katherine, staring at her. In an inquisitive and skeptical tone, he asked, "You don't know him?"

Katherine shook her head. "I don't know him! Sir, do you know that person? Why was he insulting you?"

Alex felt speechless.

Narrowing his eyes, he asked, "You haven't answered my question yet. What are you doing here?"

Katherine pretended to sigh in disappointment and replied, "Because of you, I was fired by the Apricot Group! I heard they were recruiting auctioneers here today. I submitted my resume and came for an interview!"

Alex still looked at her with suspicion and asked, "Did you receive a job invitation then?"

Katherine shook her head, shrugged, and helplessly said, "No! They require at least three years of work experience, which I don't have."

Alex observed her.

He thought to himself, 'If she stood on the auction stage, others might think she's selling school supplies.'

Katherine looked up and asked, "Sir, why are you here?"

"My Grandfather took an interest in a batch of antique sculptures, so I came to help him acquire them."

"I see. You are such a filial grandson!"

Alex's brow furrowed slightly, thinking, 'Is Katherine being sarcastic?'

At that moment, his phone rang.

Alex answered the call, his brow furrowing. After a few minutes, he hung up.

He pondered for a moment, gazing at Katherine, and asked, "Where do you plan to go next?"

Katherine replied calmly, "I'll go back and continue applying for jobs."

Alex lightly tapped her head. Leaning down, his voice low and serious, he said, "Katherine, come with me. I can offer you a job."

"What?"

Katherine looked at him in bewilderment.

Before she could think, he grabbed her wrist, and they left!

Before long, they arrived at Moonlight Manor.

This was Katherine's second time here, the first being when Alex forcibly brought her for an engagement ceremony.

Looking at the decorations around - flowers, red carpet, ribbons, and balloons, Katherine asked in confusion, "Sir, what are you up to this time? Are you planning another traditional wedding?"

Alex glanced at her and said, "Do you want to marry me that much? Do you still want a traditional wedding?"

Katherine rolled her eyes at him in annoyance. She was about to retort when a clear voice interrupted.

"Uncle Alex!"

She turned her head and saw a young woman in a wedding dress running towards Alex, anxiously asking, "Uncle Alex, did the person I asked you to find arrive?"

Alex brought Katherine over to the girl in the wedding dress.

"How is she?"

The girl in the wedding dress looked at Katherine and blinked.

Feeling a bit scared, Katherine hugged herself and asked, "What exactly do you want from me?"

The girl in the wedding dress pouted unhappily as she looked at Katherine.

"Isn't she beautiful? Uncle Alex, the bridesmaid you found for me, is even more beautiful than me. She's stealing all the attention!"

Alex turned his head to look at Katherine and smiled, "Is she beautiful? Has your taste suddenly deteriorated?"

Teresa bit her lip and didn't reply.

Katherine glared at Alex!

She understood why Alex brought her here.

The girl in the wedding dress is Alex's niece, getting married today and in need of a bridesmaid, so Alex brought her.

Katherine couldn't help but complain, "Sir, don't you understand the rules? Bridesmaids should be unmarried, and she is your niece. How can someone from the younger generation be a bridesmaid for the elder?"

Alex frowned at her.

The girl in the wedding dress, however, exclaimed in surprise, "Oh! So you are Aunt Katherine!"

Katherine was a bit taken aback by her enthusiasm.

The girl in the wedding dress enthusiastically took Katherine's hand and introduced herself with a smile.

"I'm Teresa Harris, and Alex is my uncle! My bridesmaids are stuck in traffic on the highway, so we need someone to step in temporarily. We can't worry about all the formalities."

Katherine nodded and said, "I see."

"Let's go, Aunt Katherine. I'll take you inside to change into the bridesmaid dress!"

Teresa led Katherine towards the dressing room.

Katherine glanced back at Alex, thinking, 'This man said he would give me a job, but it turns out I'm here to be a bridesmaid!'

Seeing Katherine's annoyed expression, Alex couldn't help but smile.

He thought, 'It's quite interesting to tease Katherine occasionally.'

Hilton appeared with a glass of champagne, draping his arm over Alex's shoulder, and said, "Alex, what are you looking at here?"

Alex snapped out of his thoughts and said, "Nothing."

"Come on, Issac is over there. Let's go join him for a drink!"

"Sure."

In the dressing room, Teresa pointed at several evening gowns hanging on the rack and said, "These are the four bridesmaid dresses I ordered. Katherine, pick one you like!"

Katherine has always been casual about dressing up, so she chose the one on the outermost hanger.

"I'll go with this one!"

Teresa smiled and said, "Alright, Aunt Katherine. You can change it here. I'll go check if the other three bridesmaids have arrived."

"Okay."

Katherine entered the changing room and put on the bridesmaid dress.

It was a light blue dress with spaghetti straps and a slight ruffle, making her look even more beautiful, like an elf.

She sat on the sofa in the dressing room, waiting for Teresa to come back. She took out her phone and checked the unread message from Frank, replying to him.

"Teresa!"

Suddenly, someone walked into the dressing room.

Katherine looked up and met the gaze of a man.

She said, "Teresa is not here."

The man looked at her, somewhat intrigued. "And who are you?"

Just then, Teresa returned.

"Hank, what are you doing here?"

Hank Walker turned to Teresa, smiling gently. "I came to see how you're doing. Have you gathered all the bridesmaids?"

Teresa replied confidently, "Don't worry, everything is taken care of!"

"That's good."

Hank nodded, then he looked at Katherine and asked, "By the way, who is this?"

Teresa happily pulled Katherine over and introduced herself, "She is the bridesmaid Uncle Alex found for us! Isn't she beautiful?"

"I see." Hank reached out a friendly hand towards Katherine. "Hello, thank you for coming to help us."

Hank is Teresa's soon-to-be husband, a handsome and seemingly devoted man.

Katherine felt that Hank looked somewhat familiar, but she couldn't remember where she had seen him before.

Out of politeness, she shook his hand and said, "It's nothing. Never mind."

Hank smiled gently as he held her hand.

Suddenly, he squeezed her hand and brushed his thumb against her palm.

Katherine was taken aback and frowned at Hank.
