Chapter 464 Come Down

After speaking, Katherine got up and had a servant escort her out.

Alex, aware of Katherine's messy ties with the Galatea family, felt uneasy and stood up to join her.

"Alex!"

Before he could leave, Jackie's authoritative voice stopped him.

Alex turned. "Grandpa, need something?"

Jackie, looking stern, wheeled around. "Yes, come to my room. I need to talk to you."

Alex glanced at Katherine leaving, hesitated, then followed his grandfather.

At the entrance, Katherine saw Sherry's old red sports car.

Sherry spotted her and glared with heavily made-up eyes.

Katherine told the servant to go back and walked out to meet the Galatea family.

"Katherine, long time no see!"

Sherry strutted over in high heels, looking smug.

Katherine stayed calm. "What do you want?"

Sherry looked her up and down, then sneered. "Being Mrs. Melville isn't treating you well, huh? Still looking cheap and shabby!"

Katherine ignored Sherry's shallow jabs.

But someone else didn't. A figure rushed out from the Melville Manor gate and snapped at Sherry, "Who are you calling shabby? Think you're so stylish in your outdated designer clothes? You're so last season!"

Sherry was stunned by Fiona's outburst. She noticed Fiona's latest designer outfit and toned down her arrogance. "Miss, I was talking about Katherine, not you!"

Fiona, always haughty, shot back, "You can't talk about Katherine either! She's Mrs. Melville. Who do you think you are?"

Sherry's face twisted, but she didn't dare cross the Melville family. She took a deep breath and focused on Katherine. "Katherine, Mom and Dad are here to see you too!"

Katherine stayed calm. "Just say it. What do you want?"

"You've got some nerve asking that!"

Sherry snorted, getting angrier. She hated Katherine for ruining her career. Once a rising star, now she begged for roles while Katherine lived comfortably as Mrs. Melville. Why!

Katherine raised an eyebrow. "If I don't ask, how will I know why you're here?"

"Katherine, you did so many disgraceful things back in the countryside, hurt so many people, and now you're living it up as Mrs. Melville! I regret raising you!"

Joshua stormed out of the sports car, fuming and ready to scold without knowing the full story.

Lillian followed, eyes gleaming with schadenfreude.

Katherine stayed calm. "What are you talking about? What disgraceful things have I done? Why is the Galatea family here accusing me?"

Joshua pointed angrily at her. "You know what you've done! I should've beaten the ungrateful daughter to death back then to save myself the embarrassment!"

Ungrateful daughter? Katherine found it amusing. Joshua had never raised her or fulfilled any fatherly duties. He'd given her a few meals before dumping her with relatives in the countryside.

Sure, he had helped her mother in a crisis, agreeing to take care of her, which was a kindness. But she had repaid that kindness long ago.

The Galatea family's past mistreatment was forgiven. How dare they come here to accuse her now?

"Who do you think you are! Watch your tone! If you cause trouble at the Melville gate, I'll have you thrown out!" Fiona stood protectively in front of Katherine, hands on her hips.

Before Alex went into the room with Jackie, he had given Fiona a look, signaling his concern for Katherine and asking her to keep an eye on her.

Seeing someone shouting at Katherine, Fiona couldn't stand it for Alex's sake.

Joshua's face twisted, but he didn't dare act out because of Fiona's background. "Miss, this has nothing to do with you! Katherine is my foster daughter. I can talk to her however I want, and she has to take it!"

Fiona wasn't one to back down and was about to retort.

Before she could, Katherine placed a hand on her shoulder, gently patting her. "Fiona, go back. Don't get involved."

Fiona, feeling unsatisfied, frowned. "Katherine, I'm not doing this for you; I'm doing it for Alex! I can't stand anyone being rude to his woman!"

Katherine smiled. "I know. So you don't need to worry about it. Go play."

Fiona frowned, feeling brushed off like a child.

Knowing Fiona wouldn't obediently go back, Katherine gently moved her aside and faced Joshua.

"Mr. Galatea, just say what you have to say!"

Joshua frowned. "How can you be so disrespectful? We have something to discuss, but how can we talk while standing here? Invite us in!"

Normally, Katherine might have let them in to see what they were up to. But not today.

Jackie and Sandra had just returned, and Jackie was still in a wheelchair, not fully recovered.

Letting these lunatics from the Galatea family in could upset the elderly.
