Chapter 659 It Happened Naturally

Katherine tilted her head up, squinting at the blue sky peeking through the parasol. "So, you dig her because she's hot, independent, and not like the chicks at your school?"

Sunny nodded, feeling Katherine hit the nail on the head. "Pretty much!"

Katherine chuckled, "You’re into this mature vibe now, but what about later? When you hit college and meet some badass, independent girls, you might fall for them too!"

Sunny's face scrunched up. "Why you gotta say that? You think Ambrosia's just some basic girl anyone can replace?"

Katherine gave Sunny a look. "To me, she's one of a kind, but this might be your first love, and you think it's the real deal."

Sunny puffed out his chest. "No way! I'm not some dude who messes around with feelings. If I'm in, I'm in for life! I'm serious about Ambrosia, and I wanna marry her!"

Katherine didn't mock him or doubt him. She just thought he was a bit too green, seeing love as something so black and white.

Almost everyone thought they'd be with their first crush forever when they were young.

But most of the time, they ended up going their own ways.

Especially guys, who could be so damn unpredictable.

It was cool if two people were just having fun, and it was awesome if both were genuinely in love.

The problem was when only one person was all in.

Ambrosia, even though she was mature, clear-headed, and independent, might still fall hard.

Just like Katherine did. She used to be so sure she wasn't some love-struck fool who'd get played by a guy. And look what happened?

Seeing Katherine lost in thought, Sunny got impatient. "Hey! Are you gonna let me go or not? The Crescent Group's just around the corner. I'll be back in an hour, promise!"

Katherine snapped out of it and looked at him, this earnest Sunny, and a smile crept onto her face. "Go ahead!"

For now, Sunny was still innocent and wouldn't mess with Ambrosia.

Who knew what he'd turn into later?

With the green light, Sunny beamed. "I knew you'd say yes! Ambrosia said you seem cold, but you're not, and she was spot on!"

Katherine warned, "If you're even a minute late, I'm calling Bernard!"

Sunny nodded seriously. "I won't be late! Chill! But now you gotta hold the parasol yourself. I'm off to see Ambrosia. Gotta pick out clothes and fix my hair!"

He handed the parasol to Katherine and dashed off.

Such a pure love, no strings attached.

Katherine realized something as she picked up the phone next to her and paused.

The video call was still on, and Alex was nowhere to be seen, but someone else was there.

Sophia was sitting in Alex's office chair, touching up her makeup and applying lipstick in a small mirror.

Sophia, sensing she was being watched, glanced at the camera, set her mirror aside, and flashed a smile at Katherine. "Hey, Katherine! Saw you chatting with Sunny, so I didn't wanna butt in! How's it going? Did you sleep okay after ducking out early yesterday?"

Katherine's brow furrowed a bit, and she replied coolly, "Thanks for asking. I slept fine."

Sophia grinned. "That's good! I was worried you might've had a rough day and couldn't sleep!"

Katherine scoffed, "What do you think could mess up my day and keep me from sleeping?"

Sophia shrugged. "Maybe seeing Alex celebrating my birthday got to you? Katherine, I get it. If I saw my ex-boyfriend celebrating another girl's birthday, I'd be upset too!"

Katherine chuckled, "You're overthinking it! Even if you two hooked up, it wouldn't mess with my sleep!"

Sophia smiled coyly. "Really? What if we did hook up last night?"

Katherine raised an eyebrow. "Last night?"

Sophia nodded. "Yep, I didn't wanna spill, but since you said that, you shouldn't be mad! So, yeah, last night, Alex and I slept together!"

Katherine narrowed her eyes. "Ms. Coleman, are you sure you did it last night?"

Last night, Alex was on a video call with her all night. How could he have slept with Sophia?

Did they have a live sex show while she was asleep?

Sophia smiled shyly, "Here's the deal! Last night, after you left early, Jonathan came looking for you, asking if I'd seen you! We checked the hotel cameras and saw Alex carrying you out."

Sophia's tone had a mocking edge.

Katherine explained, "That's 'cause I had low blood sugar and fainted. Otherwise, he wouldn't have carried me."

Sophia's smile widened. "Katherine, no need to explain, I get it! Alex was worried I'd misunderstand and told me everything! I'm not mad!"

Katherine didn't care if Sophia was mad; she was just stating the facts.

Sophia, still touching her face dreamily, continued, "Then Jonathan and I went out to find you! When we found Alex's car, you were already gone! Jonathan kept looking for you, and I got into Alex's car, and he drove me back to the hotel."

Katherine stayed expressionless and silent, watching Sophia.

Sophia blinked seductively. "Aren't you curious about what happened next?"

Katherine looked at her indifferently. "Not really."

Even if Katherine wasn't curious, Sophia wanted to spill the tea! Sophia smiled and continued, "Then Alex said he was in a bad mood and wanted to chill in my room and have a drink with me. And then, well, Katherine, you know, a guy and a girl alone with booze. Things happen."

With that, Sophia covered her face more dreamily, as if shy or maybe reminiscing about the scene.

Sophia said, "Katherine, I should thank you!"

Katherine asked, "Thank me for what?"
