Chapter 838 Never Let Go

Fiona gave offhand replies to Sandra and then hurried back to her room, worried that Sandra might notice her unnatural behavior.

Back in her room, she closed the door and finally breathed a sigh of relief. Fiona patted her chest and saw her phone flashing on the bedside table. She quickly walked over to answer the call.

"Hello, Nathan!"

Nathan's voice on the other end was gentle, "Why did it take you so long to answer? I called you twice just now and you didn't pick up."

Fiona blushed and said apologetically, "I was chatting with Katherine and didn't have my phone with me. I'm sorry, I should have messaged you."

Nathan said with a grin, "There's really no need to be so formal with me. If you keep it up, I might actually get upset next time!"

Fiona's smile was warm, "Got it, Nathan. I'll try not to be so formal with you in the future."

"You said you were chatting with Katherine? It's so late, why were you chatting with her? Doesn't she need to put the kids to bed?" Nathan asked with concern.

Fiona replied, "The kids were already asleep. I went to talk to Katherine about Alex."

Nathan was a bit surprised, "Alex? Is there news about Alex?"

"Yes, I saw Alex today!"

"Really? Didn't you ask him where he's been for the past three years and why he hasn't come home?"

Fiona sighed worriedly, "No, because the situation was special. I couldn't even get close to Alex to say a word, and I heard that Alex seems to have lost his memory!"

"What? Lost his memory?"

"Nathan, do you think Katherine is really unlucky? She finally found Alex, but Alex doesn't remember her."

"Yeah, Katherine's had a rough time."

Hearing the regret in Nathan's tone, Fiona felt a bit uncomfortable, "Nathan, do you still have feelings for Katherine?"

Nathan was taken aback, then his tone became more serious. "If I still had feelings for Katherine, what would that make us now? Fiona, do you really think I'm that kind of person?"

Fiona quickly shook her head, "No, I just felt that you still care a lot about Katherine's situation and was worried that you might still like her."

Nathan said, "I did have feelings for Katherine in the past, and I still respect her, but I don't have any romantic feelings for her anymore. If I still liked Katherine, I wouldn't have pursued a relationship with you. Fiona, you are the most important person in my life now. I care about you, so I care about the things that bother you. I want your family and friends to be well because your happiness means everything to me."

Fiona felt touched by Nathan's words, "Nathan, thank you."

"Hmm? Being polite with me again?"

"I forgot! I..."

Nathan smiled. "Alright, I'm not teasing you anymore! By the way, where is Alex now? Is there anything I can do to help?"

Fiona replied, "He's with a bad woman! I don't know what Katherine's plan is; she doesn't want me to get involved and says she has a way."

"Katherine is still so stubborn!"

"Yes, that's why I'm really worried."

"Don't worry, if anything happens, I'll help you figure it out together!"

The Mitchell Mansion.

Bernard had just returned from abroad. After having dinner with Katherine, he went straight to the company.

Although there was nothing urgent at the company, he decided to go in and tackle some backlog to keep his mind occupied, as he was in a bad mood.

By the time he finished, it was already late at night.

Bernard turned off his computer, rubbed his temples, and then got up to grab his coat and head out.

As soon as he opened the office door, he saw Billy hanging up a call with a hurried expression!

Seeing Bernard come out of the office, Billy quickly approached, "Mr. Bernard Mitchell, you're done! I was just about to come in and talk to you!"

Bernard frowned at the flustered Billy, "What's the matter?"

Billy said, "Something happened at home! The butler just called and said Mr. Edwin Mitchell is missing. They couldn't reach you, so they called me and asked you to go home immediately!"

Bernard's brow furrowed, "When did he go missing?"

Billy replied, "They haven't seen him since dinner. Your grandparents thought he was in the garden with the flowers and didn't pay much attention. It wasn't until now, when they realized he still hadn't come back, that they called him and found his phone was off and couldn't reach him."

Bernard's face darkened, "A grown man can't just disappear."

Billy said cautiously, "Under normal circumstances, Mr. Edwin Mitchell wouldn't go missing. They are worried he might have had an episode and something happened while he was out."

Bernard was already exhausted, and now Edwin was causing him more worry, "Let's go home first."

"Yes, sir!" Billy responded, then followed Bernard, calling the driver to bring the car to the company entrance as quickly as possible.

They arrived at the Mitchell Mansion at 1 AM.

As soon as Bernard walked in, he saw Vincent and Hellen sitting in the living room, with the household staff lined up in the living room.

Two police officers were asking questions.

They called the police?

Bernard frowned and walked towards the living room, "Grandma, Grandpa, I'm back."

Hellen reached out for him to come over. "Bernard, you're finally back! Your dad has been missing since this afternoon. We've looked everywhere and can't find him. His phone is off, and Vincent and I are worried sick!"

Vincent added, "Your dad is getting up there in age, but he still doesn't let anyone know where he's going! It's so worrisome."

Bernard walked up to Vincent and Hellen, "Don't worry. I've already sent people to look for him. He is a grown man; he can't just disappear."

Hellen said worriedly, "If Edwin wasn't sick, Vincent and I wouldn't be so worried! You know he's been on antidepressants for years. We're afraid he might do something rash."

Vincent sighed heavily.

Bernard understood what Vincent and Hellen were worried about.

Since Claire left with Katherine years ago, his relationship with Edwin had been lukewarm.

When they met, he would politely greet Edwin, and they would talk a bit more when there were family matters, but otherwise, they had little communication.

All these years, he had never let go of his grudge against his father.
