Chapter 370 Charles Is So Annoying!
Fiona glanced at Katherine, who was lounging against the headboard, yawning. She couldn't bring herself to apologize to this country bumpkin she despised. "Alex, I..."
Alex's face was stern in the video. "If you don't apologize, pack your bags immediately!"
Despite her reluctance, Fiona was scared of Alex.
She quickly caved, lowered her head, and said, "Katherine, I'm sorry. I was wrong. I won't talk to you like that again. Please forgive me, and don't let Alex send me away."
Katherine squinted at her, not really responding, just extending her hand. "Give me back my phone, and you can leave."
Leave?!
Who did Katherine think she was talking to, a servant?
Fiona was fuming at Katherine's dismissive attitude, but she had no choice. Alex was still watching!
She didn't dare confront Katherine anymore, obediently handed the phone back, and left the room in disgrace.
Katherine took back the phone, and after Fiona left, she looked at the handsome face on the screen, lazily complaining, "Alex, your sister is nothing like you."
Alex's cold expression softened instantly. "Alright, don't be mad. I'll give her a lesson when I get back."
"I'm not mad, just a bit annoyed!" Katherine yawned again and absentmindedly asked, "Alex, when are you coming back?"
Realizing it was inappropriate, she blinked awkwardly.
Alex paused, then smirked. "When do you want me to come back? I can turn around right now."
Katherine cleared her throat awkwardly. "N-no need, I was just asking! You should get back to work. I'm going back to sleep!"
With that, she quickly ended the video call and tossed the phone aside!
Katherine covered her face with both hands and rolled around on the bed in embarrassment.
Why did she ask him when he was coming back?!
He had only been gone for less than ten minutes, and asking like that made it seem like she missed him a lot!
She thought, 'Katherine, is that all you got?'
But what should she do if she really missed him a bit after just ten minutes?
Katherine hugged the blanket they had shared last night, buried her face in it, and took a deep sniff, trying to catch a whiff of his clean, fresh scent.
Unknowingly, she drifted off to sleep.
Fiona slunk out of the room and bumped into Anton, who was about to unlock the door.
Seeing Fiona come out, Anton let out a half-sigh of relief. "Ms. Melville, you're finally out! Mrs. Melville isn't mad, is she?"
Fiona frowned in annoyance. "Anton, all you care about is whether Katherine is mad. Why don't you ask if I'm upset?"
Anton remained silent.
Fiona felt utterly humiliated and took it out on Anton and the other servants. "I think this house is about to change its name to Galatea. All of you are siding with that outsider! Traitors!"
Anton looked helpless. He wasn't taking sides; it was just that Fiona was in the wrong today, barging into Katherine's room.
The servants felt wronged too. They weren't siding with Katherine; they just thought Fiona was being unreasonable.
Fiona stormed back to her room, fuming, and decided to call Scarlett.
The call connected quickly, and Scarlett's voice was as gentle as ever. "What's wrong, Fiona?"
Fiona snapped, "Scarlett, do you know? Katherine is getting out of hand! She's acting like the lady of the Melville family!"
On the other end, Scarlett gritted her teeth before responding, "Fiona, calm down and tell me what happened. Did Katherine do something outrageous?"
Fiona thought for a moment and grumbled, "She didn't do anything specific; she just shamelessly won Alex over. Now, everyone in the house treats her like the lady of the house, and no one respects me! And she has the nerve to treat me like a servant—it's infuriating!"
Scarlett feigned sympathy. "What? Does she treat you like a servant? Fiona, I agree that Katherine's attitude is over the top. Is Alex home? Isn't he doing anything about it?"
Fiona replied, "Alex has already gone to the office. That bitch Katherine is sleeping in his bedroom right now! And even if he were home, he would only side with her, not me! Scarlett, you have no idea. Alex is so infatuated with Katherine's looks that he listens to her every word. I don't know what kind of spell she's got him under! Why aren't you keeping an eye on Alex? Are you just going to let Katherine take him away? I don't want her as my sister-in-law!"
Hearing that Katherine was sleeping in Alex's bedroom, Scarlett clenched her fists in jealousy but kept her tone gentle. "Fiona, no matter what my relationship with your brother is, we can't let Katherine treat you like a servant. I'll come over and have a good talk with her!"
Scarlett's words touched Fiona. "Scarlett, you're the best! Wait, Scarlett, is that a child crying in the background?"
Scarlett's tone became a bit unnatural. "Uh... it's Charles. He's not feeling well and is fussing. Fiona, I'll talk to you later. I'll come over soon!"
Fiona answered, "Okay, Scarlett, I'll be waiting for you!"
After hanging up, Scarlett looked irritably at Charles with a bandaged head, crying in the nanny's arms.
"Alright, Charles, stop crying! Mommy feels bad! What do you want to eat? I'll have someone get it for you, okay?"
Scarlett feigned concern, trying to calm Charles down. Otherwise, his constant rejection of her would look suspicious.
But as soon as she got close, he cried even harder.
The nanny, worried about Charles' head injury and fearing he might cry himself into a fit, advised, "Ms. Mitchell, maybe you should stay away from Charles for now. Once his head heals, you can hold him."
Scarlett was already annoyed by the child, and his crying made it worse. She waved her hand dismissively. "Fine, take good care of him. I have to go out now!"
The nanny secretly sighed in relief. "Okay, Ms. Mitchell, don't worry. I'll take good care of Charles."
Scarlett glanced at the still-crying Charles, finding him more and more annoying. She had chosen him because he looked cute, but he turned out to be so difficult! Too bad she couldn't return him! So frustrating!
