Chapter 30 Ms. Galatea is really unique!

Joshua's face was gloomy, still upset about the scandal involving Sherry that had gone viral.

Katherine walked over slowly and gently advised, "Dad, getting angry is not good for your health. Please relax a bit. The issue with Sherry is no longer trending, and soon enough, people will forget about it."

"Alright." Joshua felt relieved. Katherine was mature and sensible, which put his mind at ease.

Lately, things hadn't been going well, and Joshua sighed, "Katherine, did you need something from me?"

Katherine nodded and placed a painting on the table. "Dad, take a look at this painting."

She carefully removed the tissue paper covering the painting, revealing a magnificent landscape.

It was the Late Autumn painting that Alexander had given her, one of her mother's masterpieces.

Upon seeing the painting, Joshua was stunned. He asked excitedly, "Katherine, this is Lotus's work, Late Autumn! It was recently sold to a mysterious buyer for ten million dollars! Where did you get it? Is it authentic?"

Katherine calmly explained, "Dad, it is authentic. The person who bought this painting is my employer. I happened to save my employer's grandmother's life that day, and as a token of gratitude, my employer gifted me this painting."

Joshua couldn't believe it. "Your employer gave you a painting that they bought for ten million dollars?"

Katherine nodded. "Yes, my employer is generous and wealthy and values their grandmother greatly. Ten million dollars is nothing to them."

Joshua exclaimed, "Such a stroke of luck!" He gently caressed the painting, his expression filled with fascination and a hint of melancholy as if he was reminiscing about something.

Katherine observed Joshua's changing expressions and asked, "Dad, Lotus is Mom's pen name, right?"

Joshua froze, then looked at her in shock. "How did you know?"

Katherine calmly replied, "I have some vague memories from my childhood, and the name Lotus feels familiar to me. Later, I found a photo at home with 'Lotus' written on the back, and the handwriting matched Mom's signature."

So, that's how she found out.

It seemed he couldn't keep it from her any longer. Joshua sighed and admitted, "Yes, Lotus is your mother."

Katherine had already known, and she probed further, "Dad, I noticed that among Lotus's so-called works, some pieces seem to be newly painted and not aged like long-lost works. Do you think Mom might still be alive..."

"Don't talk nonsense!"

Joshua sternly interrupted her, "Your mother passed away when you were very young! Those works that look new are probably just imitations, painted in Lotus's style to deceive people! And Katherine, remember, never mention outside that your mother is Lotus! Do you understand?"

Katherine furrowed her brow in confusion, "Why? Why can't I talk about Mom outside?"

Joshua was at a loss for words. He looked at Katherine with a complicated expression, remained silent for a few moments, and then said, "Your mother has a special identity. It's not good for you to bring her up, and people might start spreading rumors that you are my illegitimate daughter!"

Every time her mother was mentioned, Joshua would evade the topic.

There must be some dark secret hidden in all of this!

Though Katherine's memories of her mother were vague, she distinctly remembered her mother as a proud woman who would never stoop to be someone's mistress!

The Galatea family claimed her mother was a mistress, but Katherine never believed it. Even if her mother had truly passed away, she was determined to uncover the truth and clear her mother's name.

Leaving "Late Autumn" in Joshua's care, Katherine bid farewell and departed.

She believed that Joshua would take good care of her mother's legacy because she could see that he still loved her mother.

She had no worries that Lillian and her daughter would destroy her mother's painting.

Firstly, Lillian and her daughter didn't know that Lotus was her mother, as Joshua hadn't told anyone about it.

Secondly, even if they found out, they wouldn't dare to damage the painting.

Though they didn't like her mother, they loved money, and a painting worth ten million dollars would surely be cherished by them.

Katherine left the Galatea Manor and headed towards the nearby bus stop, preparing to take the bus back to the Melville Manor.

As she waited for the bus, a black Mercedes slowly approached and stopped in front of her.

This was Alexander's car!

How did she run into Alexander outside again? She was really unlucky.

Leander got out of the passenger seat and opened the back door for her, respectfully saying, "Ms. Galatea, please get in. Mr. Melville asked me to pick you up."

Katherine noticed that Alexander wasn't in the car, so she instantly understood that this wasn't a coincidence.

She frowned unhappily and asked Leander, "How did he know I was here? Is he following me?"

Was he afraid she would run away?

Leander replied seriously, "Ms. Galatea, when you answered the phone yesterday, you mentioned that you would be going to your parent's house today, so Mr. Melville asked me to wait for you nearby."

"I forgot!" Katherine knew she didn't have a choice, so she cooperatively got into the car and asked, "Where is Sir taking me?"

Leander, sitting in the passenger seat, turned his head and replied, "Mr. Melville asked me to pick up Ms. Galatea and go have a meal together, then return home."

Katherine was surprised and frowned, "What's going on? Did Sir take the wrong medicine today? He actually invited me to dinner!"

Leander felt awkward.

He had already gotten used to Katherine's boldness and explained professionally, "Well, Madam Melville called Mr. Melville today and blamed him for neglecting you at home every day, so..."

So that was it! She knew he didn't sincerely intend to invite her to dinner!

Katherine asked, "Where are we going to eat?"

Leander politely said, "It's a steakhouse. Do you like it, Ms. Galatea?"

Katherine didn't hold back, "I don't like it! Tell him I want to have fondue instead!"

Leander was taken aback. "I'll go and tell Mr. Melville right away."

Katherine was truly unique.

Most women would be delighted to have dinner with Alexander and wouldn't dare to be picky about what to eat.

And here she was, asking Alexander to have fondue with her?

As far as Leander knew, Alexander had never even tried fondue before!
