Chapter 60 She Is a Mystery

"You flatter me," Katherine replied absentmindedly, without even looking up.

Alexander propped his head with one hand and glanced at her, "Have you learned the violin before?"

Alexander was testing her.

Because not only could Katherine play the violin, but she played it exceptionally well. This fact was quite illogical.

Choosing Katherine to be his wife was purely accidental, but he had already investigated her background thoroughly.

Although the Galatea family was considered middle class, Katherine was an unacknowledged illegitimate child. She had been sent to live with relatives in the countryside since she was young. Her troubled upbringing didn't provide her with the opportunity to learn any classical instruments.

And the piece she played at the recent class reunion, without seven or eight years of solid foundation, it was impossible to reach that level.

Katherine was full of contradictions, which made her seem even more extraordinary.

However, Katherine didn't pay any attention to Alexander's scrutinizing gaze. She was busy looking at the expenses on her phone bill...

She had just paid for the gathering with her classmates, so now she was left with only a little over sixty dollars in her bank account!

And the one to blame for her financial troubles was the man beside her, Alexander!

Alexander was still teasing her about her violin skills!

The more she thought about it, the angrier Katherine became. She snorted, "Alex, we're not really husband and wife. Whether I learned something or not has nothing to do with you! We'll get divorced in three months. Why are you asking so many questions?"

Rebuked, Alexander frowned, "Ms. Galatea, I just compensated you for a violin. Is this how you treat me?"

So what if her attitude was bad? She didn't say, "It's none of your business," which would have been even better!

Katherine gave him a disdainful look, "Alex, you're the one who broke that violin in the first place. Who else should compensate me if not you?"

Alexander's face darkened. It was the first time he had encountered someone who was so unappreciative of his help.

Katherine continued, "And if it weren't for you, I wouldn't have to treat my friends today, so I've spent all my living expenses!"

In the end, it was because of this incident that she was upset.

Alexander smirked, "Ms. Galatea, aren't you eager to gather with your dear classmates? You're not happy when it's your treat?"

"Do I have to treat everyone when we gather? Alex, do you think everyone can spend money as freely as you do?"

Katherine frowned unhappily, "It's not just a small gathering of two or three people. In a class reunion with so many people, it's usually understood that the expenses are shared. Because of your words, I've used up my monthly salary! Hmph!"

Alexander narrowed his eyes. Since the two of them reached a cooperative agreement, Katherine had always been patient in front of him. It was clear that she hoped for a stable life and tried to avoid conflicts with him as much as possible.

Today, it was rare for him to see her unable to bear it and express her anger openly.

She looked quite lovely when she was upset because of the lack of money. Her little mouth was now pouting!

"How much did you spend? I'll reimburse you," Alexander said lightly.

"Really?" Katherine's eyes lit up, and she had already sent him her bank account number and the bill.

Alexander was speechless.

She acted quickly!

Katherine felt that she had nothing to hesitate about. This money shouldn't have been spent by her in the first place!

It was trouble deliberately caused by Alexander. He said she had to treat, and her classmates, unaware of the truth, believed it.

If she left without treatment, it would make her seem untrustworthy!

But if she paid the bill, she would have no money left!

Although she still had money with Frank, that money was meant to buy her mother's painting and couldn't be spent randomly!

Alexander chuckled and transferred the money to her account.

Katherine felt much better when the money arrived.

Her previously sulky face immediately brightened, and she spoke more, "Alex, do you know that your behavior today made my classmates think that you are my sugar daddy?"

"Sugar daddy?"

Alexander frowned, "What? Do I look like someone of that age?"

Katherine shook her head.

"No! It's precisely because you don't look like someone of that age that they would think you are the kind of sugar daddy who supports me."

Alexander lowered his head, sensing that she had suffered quite a bit at the recent class reunion. He furrowed his brow.

"So, you still played the violin for them to listen to?"

Katherine pursed her lips, "Do you think I wanted to play the violin? It's because a few people deliberately slandered me, saying that I had an affair with the principal, which caused a misunderstanding among most of my classmates. Only by playing the violin could they apologize! The principal is someone I deeply respect, so I had to clarify things for him!"

After hearing this, Alexander turned to her, looking at her seriously. Suddenly, he leaned in closer, "Ms. Galatea, why don't you help me clarify things?"

Katherine was taken aback by his perfect and flawless face as he suddenly approached. Her breath caught for a moment.

"What should I clarify for you?" Alexander stared at her, his face getting closer to hers as he spoke.

"You should clarify that I'm not your sugar daddy but your husband!" The word "husband" dropped in her ear, surprising Katherine.

When she came to her senses, Katherine immediately rolled her eyes in disdain, "Forget it! I don't want people to know that I'm already married. I still want to marry the person I like in the future!"

Upon hearing her say that she wants to marry "the person she likes" in the future, Alexander's expression turned somewhat displeased. He teased, "Is that so? Well, I'm curious to see who would dare to marry a wife like you in the future!"

Feeling belittled, Katherine asked in an unhappy tone, "What's wrong with me? What kind of wife am I?"

Alexander's deep blue eyes were profound. He said in a light tone, "Ms. Galatea, you're so fierce, daring to kiss a stranger casually outside. What kind of woman does that make you?"

Katherine puffed up her cheeks in anger, "I've said it before; that time was an accident..."

The driver suddenly slammed on the brakes. Due to inertia and the fact that they were facing each other, Katherine leaned back uncontrollably, and Alexander leaned forward uncontrollably, their lips touched and then separated...

Alexander was taken aback and quickly sat up, pushing her away, "...Sorry."

It wasn't intentional on his part.

Katherine's face turned red. She wanted to be angry, but she had no reason to be mad!

The awkward part was that she had just emphasized that the first time she kissed Alexander forcefully was an accident. And it was obvious that the kiss just now was also unintentional on Alexander's part. How could she hold onto that little accident and make a fuss? It would only make her more embarrassed...

So, she decided not to pursue Alexander's responsibility!

She didn't say anything; she just pushed Alexander away with her hand. She vigorously wiped her mouth with her arm, turned her head, lowered the car window, and let the wind caress her flushed cheeks. She looked at the street scene outside the window as if nothing had happened...

Her profile was exquisite, with long and curly eyelashes and a hint of baby fat on her cheeks. The evening breeze tousled the stray strands of hair on her forehead. Her ears were still red from the recent little accident.

Looking at Katherine like this, Alexander was momentarily lost in thought.

The car stopped, and the driver got out to check. He came back and explained the situation, "Mr. Melville, there's a traffic jam ahead due to an accident. I'm afraid we'll have to wait for a while."

Traffic jams were the most frustrating when they were beyond one's control.

Alexander rubbed his forehead. Suddenly, he heard the sound of someone opening the door and getting out of the car...

He turned his head and saw that Katherine had already gotten out of the car.

"Where are you going?"

"The subway station is just ahead. I'm taking the subway back."

Katherine replied calmly and walked away on her own.

With the traffic jam, she didn't want to sit in the car and wait with Alexander!

After thinking for two seconds, Alexander also got out of the car.

Leander, who was sitting in the passenger seat, immediately followed suit. Just as he was about to catch up, he heard Alexander's cold command from the front.

"You can go off duty now. No need to follow me."

Leander had no choice but to stop. "...Yes, Mr. Melville."

Watching Alexander walk away with Katherine, he felt a bit worried. Alexander had never taken the subway before. What if...

And could it be that Alexander had developed feelings for Ms. Ga...?

The road near the subway entrance was also heavily congested.

A nanny's car was stuck in the traffic, unable to move...

Sherry and her parents had just finished the signing ceremony and had a pleasant dinner with the manager of the new company. They were the ones in the car.

Today, the film and television company under the Melville Group officially signed her, not only providing her with a luxury nanny car but also promising her many good resources!

Sherry is now full of confidence in her future and feels that she is not far from becoming an international superstar. It's just that the traffic jam is bothering her.

She leaned out of the car window to see the road ahead, but unexpectedly, she saw Katherine walking with a tall and strong man!

"Mom, Dad! Look, isn't that Katherine? It's so late; why is she with a man!"
