Katherine yawned and said, "You said it yourself: Charles is adopted, not biological.
And from what I know, you asked Alex to help you adopt Charles. You told him he wouldn't need to worry about anything else after that.
So, it makes sense that whoever proposes it should be responsible! Alex is kind enough to help you with Charles, but he's not obligated to.
Scarlett, if you take his kindness for granted, that's on you!"
Scarlett couldn't argue, so she put on a pitiful look, her eyes welling up with tears.
"Katherine, I just want Alex to see Charles. Why are you making me sound like a bad guy?"
Katherine laughed, stepped forward, and lifted Scarlett's face, pinching her chin.
"Am I being aggressive? If you think reasoning with you is aggressive, then let me be clear: if you keep bothering Alex for no reason, I'll handle you myself, homewrecker!"
Scarlett felt the cold warning from Katherine's touch and shrank back, crying. "Katherine, how can you say that? I'm not a homewrecker."
Katherine lifted her chin higher. "Whether you are or not isn't up to you. It's up to me, the legitimate wife. If your actions affect our marriage, I won't hesitate to deal with you!"
She let go of Scarlett's chin and pushed her face away. Scarlett's head turned to the side, and when she looked back, her face was full of tears.
She didn't speak to Katherine anymore but looked pitifully at Alex, who was standing behind Katherine. "Alex, Katherine really doesn't like me. I think I should return this bracelet to you. I don't want to cause any more trouble or make Katherine think badly of you."
As she spoke, she took out the bracelet. Before Scarlett could hand it to Alex, Katherine grabbed it and played with it.
"Are you sure Alex gave this bracelet to you?"
Scarlett frowned and reluctantly spoke to Katherine again, "Yes, of course. Alex had his subordinate give it to me when we first met. You didn't know Alex back then, so it's not surprising you don't know about it."
She wanted to show off that she knew Alex earlier. But Katherine didn't care who knew Alex first. If there was something between them, they would have been married by now. But clearly, there wasn't.

Katherine looked at the bracelet and then returned it to Scarlett. "Since he gave it to you, keep it. Don't keep returning it, making it seem like Alex is ungrateful!"
Scarlett clenched her fists in anger but didn't take back the bracelet, forcing herself to keep up the pitiful act. "Katherine, didn't you just say I shouldn't look for Alex anymore? So, I don't need this bracelet."
Katherine smiled. "You misunderstood. I'm not saying Alex shouldn't repay your life-saving grace. That will always count!
I just hope you understand he's now a married man and needs to avoid suspicion when interacting with other women.
So, if you have any issues in the future, come to me instead of going directly to him. You understand the whole 'guys and girls' thing, right?"
Katherine's tone was gentle, making it hard to argue. She even took Scarlett's hand and put the bracelet back on her wrist. "That's it. If you need help, come to me. It's more convenient to ask me than a man!"
Scarlett had no choice but to accept the bracelet and Katherine's arrangement. She didn't expect Katherine to play this card, cutting off her chances of contacting Alex privately. Damn, Katherine was too cunning!
Katherine, feeling tired, stretched lazily after putting the bracelet on Scarlett. "Alex! I'm tired. Let's go home and rest!"
Alex, smiling slightly, found Katherine's mix of elegance and assertiveness adorable. For the first time in his life, someone stood up for him, argued for him, and protected his rights with a bit of possessiveness. He enjoyed it, so he didn't interrupt.
Katherine's words were reasonable, and her arrangements were appropriate. Alex thought it was great and said before leaving, "Scarlett, I now have a family, so it's indeed inconvenient to interact with you privately. I'll find the best childcare expert for Charles.
In the future, if you have any issues, contact Mrs. Melville directly. Leander will assist her in helping you. If there's something they can't solve, Katherine will let me know."

They went to the terrace.
