Chapter 883 Go to the Amusement

Katherine frowned. "Stop talking nonsense!"

Edith pouted. She wasn't making things up; she really felt that Charles was becoming distant from them.

Katherine looked out the window, "George, Charles is over by the slide. Go get him and tell him Mommy is taking you all to the amusement park."

"Okay!"

As soon as George heard they could go to the amusement park, he ran ahead.

Katherine held Edith and walked slowly behind, pondering where the rumors in the kindergarten had started.

George climbed into the mushroom house inside the slide and found Charles curled up inside.

"Charles, Mommy is here to pick us up and said she's taking us to the amusement park! Let's go!"

Charles looked up at George and shook his head dejectedly, "I'm not going. You guys go ahead."

George frowned in frustration, "Why not? Charles, don't you love the spinning airplanes at the amusement park? Let's play together!"

Charles buried his head in his knees, "I'm not going. I don't want to bother you guys."

His voice got so soft that George couldn't hear the last part clearly and tilted his head, asking, "Charles, what's wrong?"

Charles didn't speak anymore, just buried his head and made sobbing sounds.

"You have to go home even if you don't want to go to the amusement park. Do you want to spend the night at the kindergarten?"

Katherine's voice made Charles suddenly lift his head.

Hearing Katherine's voice, George poked his head out of the mushroom house, "Mommy, Charles seems upset and doesn't want to go to the amusement park. Maybe we should go another day!"

It was rare for George to be so considerate and willing to give up the chance to go to the amusement park.

Katherine nodded, "You and Charles come down first. We'll decide whether to go to the amusement park once we're in the car!"

George agreed cheerfully, "Okay!"

Then he turned back and pulled Charles up, "Come on, Charles, Mommy is waiting for us!"

Charles didn't resist George's pull and obediently followed him down the slide, but he didn't dare to look at Katherine, feeling he had done something wrong and didn't want to face her.

Katherine didn't say anything for the moment, leading them to the car and buckling them in.

She had George and Edith sit in the back, then gently placed the drooping-headed Charles in the front seat and buckled him in as well.

Charles didn't dare to look up at her the whole time, even breathing cautiously.

Katherine got into the driver's seat and asked, "Mommy isn't going back to the office this afternoon. You three discuss whether to go to the amusement park for a while or go straight home."

George and Edith, who usually argued, surprisingly spoke in unison, "I'll go with what Charles wants!"

Katherine turned to look at Charles in the front seat, "George and Edith are paying attention. Charles, where do you want to go?"

Charles was a bit surprised and looked up at Katherine's gentle face, "I..."

Katherine reached out and gently ruffled his hair, "Go ahead, say it. Do you want to go to the amusement park, go home, or somewhere else? I'm spending the whole afternoon with you guys."

Charles blinked in disbelief, "Mommy, I caused trouble. Aren't you mad at me?"

Katherine raised an eyebrow, "What trouble did you cause?"

Charles was stunned, "I hit my classmate."

Katherine smiled, "Mommy was going to praise you for that! Hitting bad people isn't wrong, and hitting bad kids isn't either! I've seen the surveillance footage of what happened. You did great, bravely standing up to protect a girl classmate. Good job!"

Charles could hardly believe he was being praised, his big eyes filled with unease, "Mommy, did I really not do anything wrong?"

Katherine firmly held his face and kissed his forehead, "Of course not. You're a great example for George and Edith. Mommy is proud of you!"

Charles blushed with surprise, "But Mommy, I still caused you trouble."

Katherine frowned, "What do you mean by causing me trouble? You're my child. It's my duty to protect you and take care of you. Whatever I do for you is what I should do! Don't say such silly things again!"

Charles bit his lip hard, trying not to cry. He had thought Katherine would be mad at him, like Eris.

In the back seat, George and Edith, not knowing what had happened, leaned forward and asked, "Mommy, what are you and Charles talking about? Who did Charles hit?"

"Mommy, who was the bad person Charles hit?"

Katherine turned around and solemnly explained to George and Edith, "Charles did something very brave today. He stood up to protect a girl who was being bullied by a bad kid. Charles hit the bully. Isn't that amazing?"

George and Edith gasped in surprise and admiration, looking at Charles like he was a superhero.

George: "Charles, how did you hit that bad kid? Teach me!"

Edith: "Charles is so cool! Now I can walk around the kindergarten without fear, knowing Charles will protect me! But I can only count on Charles; George runs away faster than me when something happens!"

George crossed his arms in defiance, "Why do you have to put me down while praising Charles? When did I ever leave you behind?"

Edith lifted her chin, "You never treat me like a sister. You wouldn't protect me!"

George retorted, "Do you treat me like a brother? You're always badmouthing me!"

As they talked, George and Edith started bickering again, turning their faces away and ignoring each other angrily.

Katherine felt helpless with George and Edith, "You two are at it again? Can't you learn from Charles and use that energy against bad people?"

George and Edith looked at Katherine, then at Charles, who was blushing from the praise.

Edith: "Okay, for Charles's sake, I'll make up with George!"

George snorted, "Then I'll reluctantly accept your peace offer for Charles's sake!"

Katherine rubbed her temples and turned to Charles, "Let's not mind them. Have you decided whether to go to the amusement park?"

Charles blinked his big eyes, hesitated for a moment, then nodded firmly, "Mommy, I want to go to the amusement park."
