Chapter 15 Live Your Life

Katherine's face had turned slightly purple.

Sandra finally caught her breath and urgently said, "Alexander... quickly... let go..."

Only then did Alexander release his grip on Katherine, tossing her aside, and went over to ask, "Grandmother, are you alright?"

Sandra weakly waved her hand. "I'm fine... just now... I choked on a peanut. Katherine saved me with the Heimlich Maneuver. The peanut on the floor is the one I just coughed up..."

Alexander paused for a moment, glanced at the small peanut on the ground, and then turned to look at Katherine, furrowing his brow.

Katherine, who had been callously thrown to the ground, got up and rubbed her sore arm.

She then explained to Sandra, "Madam Melville, the cake was baked by me this morning for my own consumption. I like nuts, so I put some in it. Unfortunately, it's not suitable for elderly people to eat. I'm sorry for any inconvenience or harm it caused you."

Afterward, she turned to Alexander and said, "Alexander... Mr. Melville, it would be safer to have a doctor come and check on Madam Melville."

Then, she turned and went upstairs to her room.

Alexander watched Katherine's retreating figure, his expression complex.

Sandra, still shaken, was helped back into the room and fell asleep.

In the afternoon, the family doctor came to examine Sandra, checking her condition and measuring her blood pressure, confirming that she was fine.

After the doctor left and Sandra had regained her spirits, she said, "Fiona, you can go out first. I have a few words to say to your brother."

Fiona was a bit reluctant as she also wanted to listen, but due to Alexander's stern gaze, she went out.

With no one else in the room, Alexander walked to the bedside and asked, "Grandmother, do you still feel uncomfortable anywhere?"

Sandra looked up at the tall and handsome Alexander, smiling kindly. "I'm fine now, Alex. Don't worry."

"That's good."

Sandra asked, "Alex, how did you meet Ms. Galatea?"

"It was a coincidence."

Sandra nodded slowly. "She's quite nice, I really like her."

Alexander was somewhat surprised. He narrowed his eyes slightly and asked, "Just because she saved you?"

Before he came back, Sandra seemed to have punished Katherine. Now, she liked Katherine?

Sandra's admiration was evident. "Katherine is patient, honest, and respectful. You misunderstood her. Not only did she not cry or argue with you, but she also politely came to me to explain and apologize. She is sensible and wonderful."

It was true.

Thinking about how he had almost strangled Katherine in anger, Alexander fell silent.

"Alex, you and Katherine haven't consummated your marriage, have you?"

The topic changed too quickly, and Alexander was taken aback.

Sandra teased, "You're almost thirty. Don't be so shy!"

Alexander felt a bit embarrassed.

"Alex, I know you rushed into marriage to please your Grandfather, but I think you've chosen a good wife. Marriage is a serious matter, so take good care of each other in the future!"

There were some things Alexander couldn't explain to Sandra.

Sandra continued, "I couldn't attend your wedding as I was abroad accompanying your Grandfather for his surgery. Today, I'm making up for it by witnessing your union with Katherine. You two will consummate your marriage, and hopefully, we'll have a grandchild once your Grandfather recovers!"

Alexander's expression turned serious. "Grandmother, I think..."

Sandra frowned. "If you don't listen to me, I'll tell your Grandfather that you got married as a sham! You know his temper, and even though he's already had the transplant surgery, you'll still make him angry again!"

Alexander rubbed his forehead and said, "Grandmother, I'll have dinner brought in for you later. Please rest well."

Then, Alexander turned and left.

Sandra didn't give up. "I'll come to your room later. Don't disappoint me!"

When Alexander returned to the room, he saw Katherine sitting alone at the computer desk, writing something. She didn't even look up when he entered.

He walked up behind her and looked at what she was writing. "Are you doing homework?"

Katherine, fully focused on her writing, replied irritably, "I'm copying your family rules! It's ridiculous that your family still has rules in the 21st century."

Alexander took her pen and said, "No need to copy anymore. No one will punish you."

Katherine stretched and said, "Then I'll go wash up and sleep!"

After the recent experience of almost being strangled, Katherine had a deeper understanding of the power difference between her and Alexander.

To Alexander, squeezing her was as easy as crushing an ant.

Katherine wasn't afraid of him; she just didn't see the point in creating more difficulties for herself.

She planned to spend these three months in the Melville family peacefully, not offending anyone and minimizing her contact with Alexander. After three months, she would leave.

Katherine got up and tried to move away from Alexander as much as possible. But suddenly, her arm was grabbed tightly.

Katherine screamed.

She winced in pain. "Alexander, what are you doing?"

Alexander narrowed his eyes and said, "Do you even know what pain is?"

His large hand was gripping the spot on her arm where she had been injured!

Today, when Alexander pushed her down, her forearm hit the corner of the table, causing the injury.

Katherine had intended to avoid any more conflicts with him, but he always found ways to bother her!

Angry, she said, "I'm in pain because of you!"

Alexander paused, then let go of her hand and said in a low voice, "Go downstairs and have the family doctor take care of the wound."

"Forget it. It's just a minor scrape. It's not a big deal!"

Katherine didn't want to go. She shook off his hand and went straight into the bathroom to take a shower.

After showering, she changed into her own pajamas and got ready to sleep.

"Come here!"

Alexander's voice suddenly rang out.

Katherine looked over and saw him lounging on the single sofa, looking very relaxed.

She didn't want to go over. "What do you want?"

Alexander raised his chin, indicating the first aid kit on the table, and said, "To treat your wound."

Katherine said, "No need, thanks for the offer!"

Alexander squinted, his tone carrying a threat. "You come here, or should I come over?"

Katherine felt annoyed!

She didn't want Alexander to come to her side of the bed. So, she gritted her teeth, got up, and walked over, extending her injured arm to him.

"Hurry up!" she said.

The maid had just brought in the first aid kit. Alexander meant for Katherine to tend to her own wound, but she seemed to have misunderstood, thinking he was going to take care of her.

Alexander had never taken care of anyone before, and he never would.

He opened the first aid kit, unscrewed a bottle, dipped a cotton swab in the medicine, and gently applied it to the cut on Katherine's forearm.

In fact, Katherine had deliberately offered him her arm.

She wanted to vent her anger. But she didn't expect Alexander to personally help her apply the medicine. Katherine raised an eyebrow and said, "Alexander, are you feeling guilty?"

Alexander remained expressionless. "I injured you today, so I should take responsibility. As for my grandmother, you don't have to hold a grudge against her. She won't be staying here for long."

Katherine said indifferently, "Why should I hold a grudge against her? She's not a bad person."

Alexander looked at her and asked, "She made you copy the rules. Don't you think she's bad?"

Katherine replied, "Would a bad person only make me copy the rules? That should be the harshest punishment a good person can think of, right? The bad people I've encountered before would..."

She didn't continue. Alexander's expression turned serious, and he asked, "What would they do?"

Katherine realized she had slipped up and felt it was unnecessary to share her experiences with someone she didn't know well.

"Nothing! Is the medicine applied? I want to go to sleep!"

The medicine was applied, but Alexander didn't let go of her arm.

Katherine thought Alexander still had concerns, so she emphasized, "Alexander, rest assured. I promised to cooperate for three months and treat it like a job. Although your sister is annoying, your grandmother just doesn't know the details and wants to protect her. I understand and won't blame her."

Alexander looked at Katherine.

He had thought Katherine was rude, but she was actually sensible.

And he found her quite lovely.

Katherine had long, thick, curly eyelashes, giving her a tender appearance. Her face was a bit chubby, and she had dimples that looked charming when she smiled.

Suddenly, Alexander stood up, startling Katherine. "Alexander?"

He embraced her waist and lifted her up without warning!

Katherine felt a bit scared. "Alexander, what are you going to do?"

Before she could finish, she was roughly thrown onto the bed.

Alexander took off his jacket, loosened his tie, and unbuttoned his shirt. Every move he made was filled with aggression.

Just as Katherine sat up, intending to run, his large hands pressed her back down.

It was the first time in her life that she had been so close to a man's Adam's apple and chest muscles. They were truly enticing!

"Alexander, don't do anything! Snap out of it and remember that I'm not your type!"

Alexander's arms were on either side of Katherine's head. He looked down at her from above like a hungry wolf.

"What if I'm not picky today and want to be with you?" he said.

Alexander's strong body pressed down on Katherine. Just as she was about to scream, her mouth was covered.

She let out a muffled groan.
