Chapter 1024 Beautiful and Kind-hearted
Bernard nodded and lay down on the bed, drifting off to sleep.
That night, Bernard slept comfortably for a change.
Christina waited until he was asleep before lying down beside him, and she, too, drifted off to sleep.
The next day, when Christina woke up, Bernard had already gone to work.
Seeing the empty spot beside her, Christina fell into deep thought.
She washed up and left the house; today she was going to shoot Valeria Song's makeup photos.
Valeria Song had hired the best makeup team, who had already designed part of Christina's look in advance.
With the preliminary preparations, the makeup process was very quick.
Since shooting makeup photos was static and didn't require much emotional expression, Christina cooperated smoothly.
A week later, Valeria Song officially started filming.
As the leading actress, Christina got up early on the first day of filming, did her makeup, and appeared on set.
"I knew it, you are the perfect fit for Valeria Song," Curtis said, looking very satisfied with her look.
When Christina appeared on set, Curtis truly felt like the leading actress had walked out of the script.
The opening ceremony was very formal, and Christina followed the staff through each procedure, suddenly feeling very pressured.
This film carried the expectations and efforts of many people, and Christina, as the leading actress, was worried that her performance might disappoint them.
However, it seemed that the more Christina feared making a mistake, the more likely it became. She was so nervous that she couldn't perform a simple entrance scene properly, even after many takes, which left Curtis somewhat helpless.
"Christina, are you too nervous?"
Christina felt very embarrassed because her nervousness was slowing down the filming progress.
Under the scorching sun, everyone was waiting for her.
"Sorry, director. It's my first time acting, and I'm a bit nervous in front of the camera."
"It's okay, I told you before, don't be nervous. Let's take a half-hour break, you can relax and adjust yourself. We'll start filming again afterward," Curtis said, patting her shoulder before heading to the lounge.
Although Curtis didn't say anything to blame her, Christina knew that the slow progress today was entirely because of her.
The other actors had arrived early, got their makeup done, and were waiting to film their scenes.
But because Christina's scene wasn't finished, they had to keep waiting.
Christina felt very frustrated, thinking she really wasn't cut out to be an actress and shouldn't have taken this role just for the money.
"Hey everyone, you must be tired. Have some drinks! I happened to be filming nearby and came to see everyone and Mr. Caldwell!"
Just when Christina was feeling most frustrated, Virginia suddenly showed up.
She and her assistant brought a lot of drinks and were handing them out to the staff and actors. "Everyone's working hard, have a drink to cool off in this hot weather."
"Virginia, you're so kind and thoughtful."
"Ms. Pearl is so professional and generous."
Everyone was very happy to receive the drinks and kept praising Virginia.
Some people, after praising Virginia, turned to look at Christina. "Unlike certain individuals who can't act but still snag the lead role, making everyone wait in the sun."
"Yeah, that's what I call being unworthy of the position."
Although they didn't mention any names, everyone knew exactly who they were talking about.
Christina sat nearby, watching them so happy, and suddenly felt stifled. She stood up, planning to rest alone in the car for a while.
"Christina."
Seeing her about to leave, Virginia immediately brought a drink over.
She happened to be filming nearby today and heard that Valeria Song was starting filming, so she had her assistant keep an eye on the situation.
When she learned that Christina couldn't get through her first scene, Virginia immediately had her assistant buy drinks and come over.
She wanted Curtis and all the staff to know that the person who should be the leading actress in Valeria Song was her, not some newcomer Christina.
"Christina, have a drink," Virginia said with a smile, handing her the drink. "How's your first day of filming going?"
Christina didn't know if her question was intentional or not, so she just said lightly, "Thank you, it's my first time acting, so I'm a bit inexperienced..."
"Ms. Pearl, you don't know, we've been here for so long and haven't even finished one scene," a staff member said obsequiously, looking at Christina with disdain.
They didn't know about Christina and Bernard's relationship and just saw her as a lucky but inexperienced newcomer.
Initially, they were just shocked that Curtis chose a newcomer for the lead role in Valeria Song, but after today's incident, they completely doubted that Christina got the role based on her own abilities.
After all, how could such an important project like Valeria Song choose someone who couldn't act as the lead?
Hearing the crew's evaluation of Christina, Virginia was secretly pleased.
In just half a day, so many people already disliked Christina. Good.
It seemed she didn't need to do anything to make Curtis realize the mistake in choosing Christina as the lead and give up on her in favor of Virginia.
"You all have worked hard," Virginia said with a sympathetic look, then turned to Christina. "But don't blame Christina, it's her first time acting, and it's normal to struggle at the beginning."
She walked up and affectionately took Christina's hand. "Christina, don't feel bad. It's normal to struggle on your first shoot. I was just lucky to have a good team and director, so my first shoot went smoothly."
At first glance, it seemed like Virginia was comforting Christina, telling her not to feel bad.
But on closer inspection, it was clear that Virginia was boasting about her own talent and smooth start in acting, subtly suggesting that Christina should give up.
Even though Christina understood the mockery in her words, she felt guilty and couldn't argue back.
"What scene are you shooting first? Maybe I can help you with it?" Virginia said with a seemingly genuine smile.
Before Christina could refuse, a staff member immediately chimed in. "Wow, Virginia, you're amazing. You're managing your own scenes and still finding time to help others. You truly have a beautiful heart and spirit."
