Chapter 335 Sibling Identification

Katherine leaned against the wall of the blood collection room, looking relaxed. "I'm healthy. Donating some blood isn't a big deal. I'll just need to recover afterward. Thanks for your concern, Mr. Mitchell."

As she spoke, her face turned a bit pale.

Bernard frowned, a hint of sarcasm in his voice. "Ms. Galatea, you really don't seem to take care of yourself."

Katherine ignored his tone and said seriously, "Mr. Mitchell, can we postpone the abortion? I just donated blood, and I'm not in the best condition for surgery right now."

Bernard squinted. "You're not trying to back out, are you?"

Katherine shrugged. "If you insist, I can try to go through with it now."

Seeing her pale face, Bernard felt a mix of pity, reluctance, and even heartache. How could he feel this way about someone he supposedly didn't like?

Irritated, he paused and waved dismissively. "Fine, another day then. You're right; it's not safe now. If something happens, I'd be responsible. Better to avoid unnecessary trouble."

Katherine forced a smile. "Thank you for understanding."

"The blood's been drawn, so I'll be leaving now." Bernard adjusted his cuff. "In three days, when we return to Janetrick, I'll arrange for the best hospital and doctor to make sure the surgery is safe and won't affect your fertility. I hope you'll cooperate and not delay it."

Katherine's eyes were cold. "Don't worry, Mr. Mitchell, I will."

Without another word, Bernard walked away, exuding indifference. He didn't care about the person he donated blood to; he just wanted the baby in Katherine's womb gone to help Scarlett.

Katherine stood there, lost in thought, her hand resting on her lower abdomen.

"Sis, are you okay?"

A small, clammy hand tugged at hers.

Katherine snapped back to reality and looked down at Linda. "Yes, I'm fine."

"Good! Sis, now that we have enough blood, will my mom be okay?"

"Yes, your mom will be fine! Let's go. I'll take you to the emergency room to wait for her."

"Okay!" Linda replied.

Katherine led Linda to the emergency room to wait for her mom's blood transfusion to finish.

Meanwhile, back in the blood collection room, the two intern nurses started gossiping.

"Did you hear that? The handsome guy who donated blood was asking her to get an abortion!" one nurse said.

"Yeah, I thought he was a good guy because he looked so handsome! Who knew he could be such a jerk?" the other replied.

The nurse on the left shook her head. "I don't think they're a couple. They might be relatives, like siblings. They look kind of similar."

The nurse on the right thought for a moment. "Maybe, but it could be a couple's resemblance. If they were siblings, why would he ask her to get an abortion? That doesn't make sense."

The nurse on the left insisted, "Why not? If he didn't approve of the guy who got her pregnant, he might force her to get rid of the baby for her own good."

The nurse on the right pondered. "That makes some sense, but their conversation didn't sound like siblings. He kept calling her Ms. Galatea, so formal. Siblings wouldn't talk like that. I still think they're not related."

The nurse on the left, confident and stubborn, suggested, "How about we make a bet?"

"A bet? On what?" the nurse on the right asked, puzzled.

"Let's bet on whether they're siblings or a couple. Whoever loses drops out of the internship competition, and the winner gets the permanent position."

"But how will we know their true relationship? Are you planning to hire a private investigator? That guy seemed important. If we get caught, we're in big trouble," the nurse on the right said.

The nurse on the left, full of confidence, replied, "Why hire a private investigator? We have their blood samples right here! We can secretly do a DNA test. If it shows a familial relationship, I'm right. If not, you're right."

The nurse on the right was shocked. "Are you out of your mind? Using patient blood samples without permission is illegal!"

"Oh, come on! We're not doing anything bad. As long as no one knows, it's fine. Only the two of us will know, and the winner gets the permanent position. You were so sure they were in a romantic relationship. Why not bet?"

"Alright! Let's bet! But we must swear this stays between us, and no matter who loses, we can't tell anyone else."

"Deal! It's a promise!"

After reaching an agreement, the two intern nurses secretly took a bit of blood from both Katherine and Bernard.
