Chapter 538 Don't Believe
Ambrosia leaned in and nodded, "Frank needs a good talking-to. I'll deal with him later. Katherine, you need to chill for the baby's sake."
Katherine was already having a rough day, and Frank's nonsense just pushed her over the edge.
Teresa glanced up and saw Katherine gearing up to confront Frank because of her. She quickly got up, wiped her tears, and tried to calm her down, "Katherine, I'm good. Don't stress yourself out. If Alex finds out, he'll be mad at me."
Katherine frowned deeply at Teresa, feeling a tightness in her chest that she couldn't shake off.
Ambrosia knew Katherine's temper all too well. She realized that if she didn't handle Frank, Katherine wouldn't be able to relax. So she said, "Ms. Harris, keep an eye on her for me. I gotta take care of something."
Teresa nodded, "Okay, Ms. Hawthorne, go ahead. I'll look after Katherine."
Ambrosia gave a faint smile and then said to Katherine, "Don't worry, Katherine. I'll take care of it."
Katherine said coldly, "Don't go easy on him. Record a video for me!"
Ambrosia nodded, "Got it!"
With that, Ambrosia swiftly left the room.
Teresa then realized what Ambrosia was up to and felt uneasy, "Katherine, is Ms. Hawthorne going to find Mr. Perez? Please, don't let her go. I'm fine! Really, I'm fine! I don't want to cause trouble for Mr. Perez and his girlfriend because of me."
Katherine glanced at Teresa but didn't stop Ambrosia or change her mind. She then looked at Fiona, who was still standing by, and said, "Go keep Grandma company. Teresa's enough for me here."
Fiona pouted but didn't dare to upset Katherine further and obediently left.
Now, it was just Katherine and Teresa in the room.
Teresa sniffled and forced a smile, "Katherine, I heard from Fiona that your feet are sore, and you want to soak them. I'll get a basin and some hot water for you."
Considering her condition, Katherine knew it wasn't convenient for her to bend over, so she nodded, "Thanks."
"No problem at all!" Teresa quickly brought a clean basin, poured some hot water, added a bit of cold water, and tested the temperature. Once she felt it was right, she said, "Katherine, try the water temperature. If it's too hot, I'll add more cold water."
Katherine sat by the bed and dipped her feet into the basin. Her sore feet felt much better. "This is fine," she said.
Teresa then set the kettle aside and squatted next to Katherine, looking at her slightly swollen feet, "Katherine, my mom used to tell me that when she was pregnant with me, her feet would swell and ache, and she couldn't walk far without feeling tired. I thought she was exaggerating, but now, seeing you, I realize how tough it is for women to be pregnant.
Even though your belly isn't that big yet, you don't seem as energetic as before."
Katherine glanced down at her 'chubby' feet and sighed, "That's why women shouldn't just jump into getting pregnant. Not every guy is worth the hassle."
Teresa was taken aback, "Katherine, what do you mean? Do you regret having Alex's baby?"
Katherine gave a slight smile and said calmly, "This baby with Alex was a surprise, but I don't regret it. I'm just saying, don't let love drive you crazy. Don't rush into things and start dreaming about a future with someone before it's even real."
Teresa nodded, getting the point, "I get it! Katherine, I should've listened to you from the start. I shouldn't have thought I could change a playboy. Now I feel so dumb."
Katherine squinted her eyes slightly, her gaze filled with pity. "It's not your fault. Frank's just not ready for a real relationship. It's good you see it now. Find someone who'll actually cherish you."
Teresa lowered her eyes, staring at the floor. Her mind was flooded with memories of her moments with Frank.
Today, she was hurt by Frank's disrespectful behavior.
Was she sad? Yeah.
Did she want to let go? Yeah.
But it was so hard to forget, so hard to let go!
"Katherine, you've known Mr. Perez for so many years. Has he ever had a serious relationship with a girl?" Teresa asked, curious if Frank had been hurt before and that's why he was the way he was.
"No," Katherine answered almost immediately.
Teresa frowned, confused, "Then why is he like this? I don't believe people are born to take love lightly. Everyone has those youthful years when they believe in pure love!"
Katherine thought about Frank's behavior and couldn't help but pinch her brow.
She had tried to control him, but she couldn't.
If she didn't let him go out and flirt with girls, he would stay home drinking or playing video games.
To prevent him from doing anything worse, she allowed him to have flings with like-minded girls.
Over the years, he had been with so many women that he couldn't even remember who they were!
"That guy doesn't believe in love at all. He's not dating women; he's just bored and playing games. Teresa, for some people, love isn't a necessity. You can't change that, so don't waste your time on him. Let Alex introduce you to someone better looking!" Katherine said.
But for a girl like Teresa, who believed in love above all, it was hard to understand people who didn't believe in love.
Teresa thought for a moment and asked curiously, "Katherine, did you ever believe in love?"
Katherine was silent for a second and then answered, "No."
She didn't believe in it.
When she was young, she thought Joshua was her biological father. Seeing Joshua with Lillian, completely ignoring her mother, and not caring much about her as his daughter, made her stop believing in love.
