Chapter 72 This Familiar Assistant

Kenny sat down and enthusiastically pitched his new movie script to attract investment from the four prestigious CEOs across from him.

Sherry, sitting beside him, was absentmindedly peeking at Alex. The more Sherry looked at the handsome and noble man, the more she felt her heart race and regret.

Not long ago, she almost married the young master of the Melville family; even the procession from Melville Manor entered the Galatea Family's gate. Unfortunately, Sherry missed out due to a misunderstanding.

Even today, the extravagant gifts from Melville Manor were still displayed at the Galatea Family.

Imagine if Sherry had accidentally married into Melville Manor, her current status would be that of Mrs. Melville. She would sit beside Alex with pride and be admired by all women.

Lost in her thoughts, Sherry accidentally knocked over the cup of coffee the barista had just served her, spilling it on her.

"Oops!" Sherry exclaimed.

Startled, Sherry stood up and hastily cleaned the coffee stains off the high-end evening gown borrowed from a brand.

"Sherry, are you okay? Did you burn yourself?" Kenny asked with concern.

"I-I'm fine..." Sherry, embarrassed by her clumsiness, quickly instructed, "Katherine, quickly get some tissues from my bag!"

"Okay," Katherine replied quickly.

Katherine, as Sherry’s assistant, obediently fetched tissues from Sherry's bag, responding in a voice as soft as a mosquito's buzz. Then, she lowered her head to search for tissues in the bag and handed them to her.

Although Katherine appeared very honest on the surface, she was silently resentful.

She thought, 'Sherry actually called my name here. Alex probably didn't care, right? '

Katherine harbored a sense of hope., She thought her name wasn't that special; names with the same pronunciation and surname were common, so it might not attract their attention.

Focused on worrying about her designer dress, Sherry didn't notice that after she called Katherine's name, the four men sitting around the tea table almost simultaneously raised their eyes and looked at the assistant behind her, who kept her head down and face hidden.

"Alex, the name Katherine seems familiar." Hilton teased with a smile.

Alex's sharp gaze fell on the young woman in a floral dress with two braids as if trying to see through her.

Sensing the chilling gaze from the man, Katherine continued to keep her head down, not lifting her face. Even though Alex had already recognized her, she didn't want to acknowledge him here. She didn't want too many people to know about her relationship with Alex, especially not Sherry and the other members of the Galatea Family, as it would surely lead to many jokes.

After finally cleaning her dress and looking up, Sherry intended to apologize for her earlier mishap. But she found that the four gentlemen at the table were all staring at Katherine beside her.

Sherry thought, 'What's going on? '

Sherry was a bit displeased; she had deliberately dressed Katherine plainly, so how could this little troublemaker still attract men's attention?

Sherry thought, 'A natural seductress, annoying! '

Forced to smile, Sherry interjected, "Why are all four CEOs staring at my assistant? Is it because she's not dressed well? I'm sorry."

Alex's cold gaze shifted to Sherry, and his eyes slightly squinted. He questioned, "She's your assistant?"

"Yes!" Sherry replied coquettishly, her heart pounding with anticipation.

Sherry thought, 'Oh my! Mr. Melville was talking to me, and his voice was so magnetic and pleasant to listen to. But it was only because of Katherine that he was speaking to me, which was annoying. '

Upon hearing Sherry's 'yes,' Alex's brows furrowed, looking displeased as he glanced at Katherine with a complex expression.

Hilton, with interest, glanced at Alex.

Although he didn't know what was going on between this couple, Hilton couldn't miss this opportunity to tease Alex's woman. His lips curled with a mischievous smile, asking, "Katherine, can you make coffee?"

Katherine still kept her head down and shook it.

Sherry frowned, displeased that all these top-tier handsome men were focusing on Katherine, so she interjected with a smile, "Mr. Allen, my assistant is from the countryside. Just look at her attire; you can tell she has no taste and definitely can't make coffee."

Hilton calmly smiled, "It's okay if she can't. Let her casually make us a pot of coffee. We're tired of watching the barista pour over the coffee process; a simple change might bring a different flavor."

Sherry was puzzled; Katherine looked so unattractive today, both in dress and makeup, so what was attracting these men to her? Why couldn't they look away?

Since Mr. Allen had specifically requested it, Sherry couldn't refuse. So she turned her head to Katherine with a smile and subtly glared at her, ordering, "Since Mr. Allen is giving you face, don't just stand there. Go and learn to make a cup of coffee for the four CEOs."

Katherine didn't want to go, but she had no choice. She sighed and obediently walked over to take the barista's place, who also conscientiously stepped aside.

Katherine knew that Hilton deliberately made this difficult request to embarrass her; they had recognized her.

Remaining calm, Katherine began the normal steps for pour-over coffee, casually filtering once with a paper filter, then brewed a pot of pour-over coffee. Afterward, she poured it into four cups, one by one, and served them to the four men sitting at the table.

The last cup was placed in front of Alex.

Throughout, Katherine kept her head down, not looking at any of them. As long as there was no eye contact, Katherine wouldn't have to engage in verbal communication, avoiding the risk of being discovered by Sherry that they know each other.

As Katherine was about to place the last cup of coffee in front of Alex, her hand was intercepted halfway by the man's large hand. It appeared that the man was simply raising his hand to take the coffee, the man's rough fingertips pressed against hers, their hands wrestling over the small coffee cup, making it impossible for her to retract her hand.

"Look up." The man's voice was calm but carried a strong sense of intimidation.

Katherine didn't look up; she stubbornly resisted the man's silent challenge. She really didn't want Sherry to know they were acquainted.

Given Sherry's temperament, if she found out, it would surely lead to more jokes.

Seeing Alex staring at Katherine like that and even touching her hand, Sherry felt a pang of jealousy and wariness.

Something felt off to her. Sherry couldn't help but speak up, puzzled and cautious, "Mr. Melville, why are you staring at my assistant? Do you know her?"

Alex looked at Katherine, lips slightly parting...
