Chapter 590 Peeling Shrimp

"Fiona, why are you making so much noise in Alex's room at this hour? Shouldn't you be sleeping?" Sandra's tired voice cut through the chaos as she pushed the door open to see what was up.

She couldn't sleep, constantly stressing about where Katherine was, and then she heard Fiona causing a ruckus, so she got up to check it out.

As soon as Fiona saw Sandra, she rushed over, all worked up. "Sandra, Alex brought back some chick who says she's his good friend! I told her to crash in the guest room, but she insists on staying in Alex's room!"

Sandra looked where Fiona was pointing and froze, her face showing a mix of emotions.

Sophia greeted Sandra with a big smile, "Hey, Mrs. Melville! I'm Sophia. Sorry for waking you up!"

Sandra snapped out of it and nodded, "Since you came back with Alex, you can stay. But not in this room. If you don't want the guest room, you can bunk in Fiona's room, and she can take the guest room!"

Sophia grinned. "Alright, thanks, Mrs. Melville!"

Fiona pouted, "Sandra, why are you letting her sleep in my room? I don't want anyone in my room!"

Sandra shot her a stern look, "Be nice! You need to know how to treat guests! She's Alex's friend and came all this way with him. How can we not let her sleep well? Go and tidy up your room for her!"

Fiona just couldn't get why Sandra was siding with this stranger.

"Sandra, but Charles is still sleeping in my room! I finally got him to sleep; I can't wake him up again, can I?" Fiona protested.

Sandra said, "Then don't wake Charles, just gently carry him to the guest room!"

"Sandra!" Fiona said, frustrated.

"Go quickly!"

Fiona was pissed but didn't dare to defy Sandra, so she stomped her foot and stormed off.

'This is so weird. Who the heck is this Sophia?' Fiona wondered.

After Fiona left, Sophia gave Sandra a helpless smile. "Mrs. Melville, sorry for the hassle!"

Sandra said, "It's no hassle. You've helped the Melville family a lot, so it's our duty to make you comfortable. Alright, go to Fiona's room and see if there's anything else you need. Just tell the servants to get it for you."

"Okay, then I won't be shy!" Sophia laughed and followed Fiona.

Sandra stood there for a moment, looking thoughtfully at Katherine's bed, then left and gently closed the door.

Meanwhile...

In some unfamiliar room, Katherine was tossing and turning, unable to sleep, so she sat up and started playing games on her tablet.

She was deep into her game when the doorbell suddenly rang.

Katherine got alert, thinking, 'Who could that be? Jonathan said this house hasn't been lived in for ages. Who's visiting at this hour? Could it be that Alex's people have already tracked me down here?'

She put down the tablet, got out of bed quietly, trying not to make any noise, and checked the peephole on the door.

Seeing it was Jonathan, she let out a sigh of relief, frowned, and opened the door. "What are you doing here so late?"

Jonathan raised the takeout bag in his hand, "Figured you couldn't sleep, so I brought you some grub!"

He strolled in and swapped his shoes for slippers, acting like he owned the place.

Well, technically, he did!

After closing the door, Katherine crossed her arms and grumbled, "Jonathan, I asked for your help, but don't get too comfy, alright?"

Jonathan, now in his slippers, ignored her griping. He carried the takeout into the kitchen and asked with a grin, "Shrimp, want some?"

Katherine frowned but couldn't resist, "Yeah!"

Jonathan chuckled and motioned her over with his finger, "Then what are you waiting for? Come and eat! The shrimp from this place is bomb, try it!"

Katherine walked over and saw the shrimp Jonathan had already set up. It looked mouthwatering and smelled amazing.

But this kind of food didn't seem like something Jonathan would usually eat.

She couldn't help but find it odd and out of character.

Jonathan handed her a fork and smiled. "What are you thinking about? Dig in!"

Katherine reached out but didn't take the fork, "Who eats shrimp with a fork? Got any disposable gloves?"

Jonathan laughed and shoved the fork into her hand, then gently pushed her down into a chair.

Katherine frowned, feeling like Jonathan didn't get her at all!

'I said I didn't want a fork; I want disposable gloves! Places that sell shrimp always have disposable gloves!' While she was silently fuming, she saw Jonathan put on a pair of disposable gloves himself.

Just as Katherine was about to complain, she saw Jonathan carefully peel a shrimp and place it on the small plate in front of her, then continue peeling another one.

Katherine was stunned, thinking, 'What is he doing? Bringing food to me late at night and peeling shrimp for me?'

"Eat!" Seeing Katherine staring at him without moving, Jonathan reminded her with a smile.

Katherine snapped out of it. "You don't have to do this; I can peel shrimp myself!"

Jonathan smiled, "As long as I'm here, you don't have to peel, just eat!"

Knowing he meant well, Katherine still felt awkward.

She picked up the fork and ate the shrimp on the plate, watching Jonathan's skilled shrimp-peeling technique, "Mr. Mostow, you've been using this move on girls for a while, haven't you?"

Jonathan paused, looked up at her. "You're thinking wrong again! Why don't you think I have a natural talent for peeling shrimp?"

Katherine pouted, "A rich guy like you wouldn't need to peel shrimp yourself unless you're trying to impress a girl!"

Jonathan chuckled, "You really underestimate me! Do I need to peel shrimp to impress girls? Even without peeling, girls would throw themselves at me! It's just you who always ignores me!"
