Chapter 632 Drunk

Katherine snapped the book shut, clearly fed up. "Mr. Mitchell, seriously, how many times do I gotta say it? I'm a grown-ass woman. I can handle my own shit. You don't need to babysit me."

Bernard got why Katherine was pushing him away, but he just couldn't chill. With the way she was right now, there was no way she could roll with him.

After mulling it over, Bernard gave in a bit. "Fine, you can stay here, but I'm sending someone to look after you tomorrow, and I'll be dropping by every day."

Katherine was beyond annoyed. "Nope."

"It's a done deal! If you won't come with me, this is the only way I can relax." Bernard didn't give her a chance to argue and got up. "Get some rest. I'll see you tomorrow. And think about coming home. You gotta go back eventually."

With that, Bernard shot her a look that said it all and left the room.

Katherine glared at his retreating back, her mind a total mess. She flopped onto the bed, staring blankly at the ceiling.

Once Bernard was out of sight, his face lost that gentle look he had with Katherine. He glared at the dining table.

"Are you coming out on your own, or do I have to drag you out?" he barked at the table.

After a beat, Sunny crawled out from under it, holding his head. "Bernard, I'm coming out. Don't be pissed."

Bernard, clearly not happy, snapped, "Go home!"

Sunny nodded and scurried off.

Bernard turned to Ambrosia and Frank at the table, dead serious. "Please, take good care of Katherine for me."

Frank grinned. "Don't sweat it, Mr. Mitchell, we got this."

Bernard nodded, looking grateful, and walked off with Sunny in tow.

As they left, Teresa's confusion only grew, mixed with a bit of suspicion. She looked at Frank, puzzled. "Why did Bernard ask you to look after Katherine? What's their deal?"

Frank just smiled. "Beats me!"

Teresa frowned. "You don't know? Then why'd you agree so easily?"

Frank shrugged. "He seemed so serious, I just went along with it."

The more Teresa thought about it, the more something felt off. She pulled out her phone and called Alex.

The phone rang forever before he picked up, and it sounded like chaos on his end.

"Alex, where are you?" Teresa asked.

Alex's voice was cold, answering with a question, "What do you want?"

"Well, I'm at Katherine's, and Bernard just showed up. It seems like he's got some shady plans for her. Alex, you need to fix things with her, or else..."

Before she could finish, she heard the dreaded busy tone. Alex had actually hung up on her.

She thought, 'Alex blowing me off is one thing, but does he not give a damn about Katherine either?'

Seeing Teresa's pissed-off face after getting hung up on, Frank couldn't help but chuckle. "Feeling ignored?"

Teresa snapped back, glaring at him. "Yeah! Happy now? Didn't you also blow off my enthusiasm back then? Do you have to mock others to feel good?"

Frank was a bit taken aback by her outburst but then laughed. "No way! I noticed your enthusiasm ages ago. I'm on your side now. Chill out."

Teresa thought, 'What does he mean by noticing my enthusiasm ages ago? What's he even talking about?'

Ambrosia put down her fork and stood up. "I'm done. You guys take your time."

With that, she headed back to her room, leaving Teresa alone with a smirking Frank.

"I'll go check on Katherine!" She stood up to leave but was pulled back by Frank. "Don't bug Katherine now. She just wants some alone time today."

Feeling defeated, she sat back down, her appetite gone.

Frank smiled. "Relax a bit. I noticed you didn't eat much earlier. Eat some more, and I'll handle the dishes when you're done."

Teresa looked at him, surprised. "You'll do the dishes?"

Frank nodded. "Of course. You cooked, so I should clean up, right?"

Teresa raised an eyebrow, curious. "But do you even know how?"

Frank leaned in closer, his tone playful. "I don't. Can you teach me?"

The closeness and his tone made Teresa blush. "I..."

Frank chuckled. "Alright, I'm just messing with you! Of course, I know how to do the dishes. Hurry up and eat! It'll get cold."

Teresa felt a bit awkward but obediently picked up her fork and started eating the steak.

Frank patiently waited beside her as she ate. Teresa kept her eyes on the steak, avoiding his gaze.

Actually, when she was Frank's secretary, he was always this gentle. Otherwise, she wouldn't have fallen so hard for his charm, unable to break free.

Back then, Frank's gentleness felt like a tease, but now it seemed a bit different. She couldn't quite figure out what had changed.

Late at night, Alex stumbled back to Melville Manor, reeking of booze.

Sandra, who hadn't slept, heard the noise and immediately came out of her room.

Seeing Alex return alone, Sandra's eyes showed some disappointment. "Alex, why'd you come back alone? Didn't you go to find Katherine?"

Alex, with a cold expression, yanked at his tie and sneered, "Why the hell would I look for her?"

Sandra smelled the alcohol on Alex and frowned even more. "How much did you drink?" Noticing his state, she called a servant to bring some water for him.

Sandra looked worriedly at Alex, who was slumped on the sofa.
