Chapter 624 An Apology is an Apology

Katherine grinned and said, "Alright, I'll say sorry to Sophia."

Sandra let out a sigh of relief. "That's the spirit, Katherine. I knew you had a good head on your shoulders."

Katherine strolled over to Sophia.

Sophia's eyes had that smug look, but she tried to play it cool, waving her hands. "No need. I know it wasn't on purpose."

Katherine yanked a handful of Sophia's hair, dragged her to the restaurant's cashier counter, and slammed her head against it.

It all went down so fast that Sophia didn't even have time to react before the pain hit, and she screamed.

Everyone was in shock, not expecting things to blow up like this. By the time Alex rushed over to stop it, Sophia had already been handled by Katherine.

Alex saw the fresh wound on Sophia's forehead, his eyes blazing with anger as he glared at Katherine and coldly asked, "What the hell are you doing?"

Katherine shoved Sophia into Alex's arms, then casually grabbed a tissue from the counter and wiped her hands. "I hate being blamed for stuff I didn't do and never apologize for things I didn't do. Mr. Melville, since you insisted I apologize, I had to do what you think I did before saying sorry."

Sophia, now in Alex's arms, made him frown. He steadied her but then let go.

Katherine didn't care how Alex saw her and continued, "Now, I've actually hurt Ms. Coleman and can apologize to her."

With that, Katherine turned to Sophia and said seriously, "Ms. Coleman, I'm sorry for hurting you. Need a hospital check-up? I'll cover the bill."

Sophia, holding back her anger, looked at Katherine, confused. "Ms. Galatea, why are you doing this to me? We just met."

Katherine raised an eyebrow. "Didn't you ask for it?"

Sophia felt wronged. "I didn't."

Tossing the tissue into the trash, Katherine ignored Sophia and stared straight at Alex. "Now that I've apologized, can I go?"

Alex looked at her coldly, saying nothing.

Not waiting for his response, Katherine turned to leave.

Sandra, still in shock, quickly blocked Katherine's path and grabbed her hand. "Katherine, where are you going? Come home with me."

Katherine pulled her hand back, keeping her distance. "Mrs. Melville, I'll go home, but your home has never been mine. Thanks for coming here for me today. You should head back and rest."

Hearing Katherine switch from calling her Grandma to Mrs. Melville made Sandra feel awkward, but she didn't correct her. "Katherine, you're about to give birth. Don't run around."

Katherine took a step back to avoid any overly intimate gestures from Sandra and said coolly, "I have friends and my own place. I'll be fine and take care of myself. Mrs. Melville, don't think of yourself as my family. If you want a great-grandchild, go to your grandson and his wife. As for the baby in my belly, it has nothing to do with the Melville family, so don't worry about it."

With that, Katherine tried to sidestep Sandra and make her exit.

"Katherine," Sandra said helplessly, still worried and trying to stop her.

"Let her go." Alex's voice was flat, showing no emotion.

Sandra was stunned, turning to look at Alex with a troubled frown.

Katherine paused for a moment, then walked out without looking back.

Fiona chased after her in the chaos. "Katherine, hold up!"

Katherine, with her big belly, couldn't walk fast. Hearing Fiona's voice, she didn't stop but was easily caught up with.

Fiona spread her arms, blocking her path, and asked with a displeased expression, "Katherine, why'd you talk to Grandma like that? Don't you know she's always been worried about you?"

Katherine smirked. "Worried about me or worried about the baby in my belly?"

Fiona frowned. "Of course, she's worried about both."

Katherine chuckled. "Come on! I'm not that easy to fool! You should go back and stay with Mrs. Melville."

Bypassing Fiona, Katherine just wanted to leave quickly.

"Katherine, don't go!" Fiona followed beside Katherine, still not giving up on bringing her back. But no matter how she pleaded, Katherine remained unmoved. In desperation, Fiona grabbed Katherine's arm and wouldn't let go. "You are my sister-in-law."

Katherine, stopped by the pull, felt a bit annoyed and looked at her coldly. "You called the wrong person. Your sister-in-law is next to your brother."

Fiona was stunned. "You mean Sophia? I would never recognize that woman as my sister-in-law. Katherine, you misunderstood. Alex and Sophia have nothing to do with each other."

Katherine pulled her arm back and shook it off. " Two people registered for marriage, and you tell me they have nothing to do with each other?"

Fiona, unaware of the situation, looked shocked. "Registered for marriage? When did that happen? Why don't I know?"

Katherine didn't even bother to figure out if Fiona was pretending. "If you don't know, go ask Alex."

Fiona was worried that if Katherine left, she wouldn't come back. She shouted, "Katherine, I really don't know what you're talking about. Even if you don't care about Alex, you must care about Charles, right? Charles has been depressed since you left, ignoring all of us, including Alex, and staying in his room all day. Won't you go back to see him?"

'Charles. That poor kid! I do have a soft spot for him and quite like him. But he is tied to Alex. Even if I care, I don't want any ties with Alex or the Melville family anymore!' After a minute of silence, Katherine calmly said, "Charles is quite pitiful. Just find a psychologist for him. I'm not a psychologist and can't cure his issues."
