Chapter 173 Katherine Suffers from Cyberbullying
Katherine frowned and calmly looked at the people surrounding her, not knowing what was happening, and said confidently, "Why are you filming me? Please delete it immediately and respect my right to privacy!"
The crowd scolded her harshly.
"How dare someone like you talk about privacy rights!"
"Why wouldn't she dare? After causing so much trouble, she's still here calmly drinking a Coke!"
"People like her are just inherently bad, with no empathy!"
"I agree! She's inhumane!"
Katherine couldn't understand what they were saying. She wanted to take out her phone to film them back, but her pockets were empty. She remembered her phone was still with Alex.
Without a phone, Katherine remained composed and said as calmly as possible. "Maybe you have the wrong person? I'm neither an internet celebrity nor a star. Why are you filming me?"
One guy answered, "We're not mistaken! It's you! You look decent but you do bad things, scamming people!"
Scamming people?
When did she ever do such a thing?
"Look at her confused expression. She must have honed her acting skills during her exortion!"
"Why doesn't she become an actress? Look at her acting skills. She might even win an award!"
The more Katherine listened, the more bewildered she felt. "I don't know you. Explain clearly why you are filming me?"
An angry onlooker in the front row turned their phone screen towards her. "Look for yourself! Can you deny that you aren't the girl in this video?"
On the screen, a video was playing.
The video showed the situation that night when she was leaving Whispering Ripple and encountered the blind old man.
The blind man was stuck on the sidewalk, blocked by a car. Out of kindness, she went to help, but the grumpy old man angrily smashed the car's window with his cane!
Then, the old man had a dispute with that purple-haired blogger. She couldn't stand it and helped the old man, but the internet celebrity pretended to be a victim and live-streamed, claiming they were scammers.
At that time, the blogger's live stream didn't stir up much online.
But now, the video had been edited with misleading cuts and posted online, making it look like she and the blind older man were deliberately scamming.
Moreover, the older man's face was blurred in the video. The streamer, being a public figure, didn't need her face obscured, but only her face was shown in high-definition close-up, clearly displaying her features!
No wonder these onlookers recognized her immediately!

She remembered that Bernard had taken the blogger's phone as evidence of her collusion with Ethan and handed it over to the police!
So, was this Bernard's doing? To avenge his beloved sister, he edited and uploaded the video to defame her?

While Katherine was pondering, a man suddenly took a cup of Coke and splashed it on her, cursing, "You shameless bitch, how dare you bully my idol Bella! You've ruined her!"
Others cheered and followed suit. "Exactly! Bella, such a sweet and inspirational girl, was ruined by this scam and is now financially devastated. She's so mentally affected that she says she'll quit the internet and never livestream again!"
"Bella is so pitiful, and it's all because of this woman!"
"She'll reap what she sows!"
Katherine snapped back to reality, took a deep breath, and patiently wiped the Coke off her face with a napkin.
Then, she looked at the clueless crowd, trying to stay calm and avoid a confrontation.
She had just gotten out of the police station and didn't want to go back for a brawl!
Bella must be the name of that purple-haired influencer.
However, the person who splashed Coke on her wasn't satisfied and rallied others. "Everyone, let's all throw our Coke at her and teach her a lesson for Bella!"
"Yes! She's ruined my appetite for Coke!"
"Me too!"
"Let's all splash her!"
The crowd picked up their Cokes, ready to douse Katherine.
Sensing danger, Katherine stood up to dodge!
"Stop!"
Suddenly, a man's voice rang out, and the atmosphere in the fast-food restaurant seemed to drop to freezing point.
People turned to see a tall, handsome man with a deep, stern face standing there.
So... so handsome and stunning!
"You are causing trouble and bullying a girl. If you don't back off, none of you will leave; the police will deal with you," said he.
The man's presence was so strong, commanding solemnly, like a descending king, that it made people tremble.
Unconsciously, the crowd stepped back, making way for him.
The man walked over steadily, frowning at the Coke-drenched Katherine, his eyes showing a touch of anger as if his bottom line had been crossed!
He had only left for a moment, and Katherine was wronged again.
How could he tolerate this?
Alex calmly picked up Katherine's half-finished Coke from the table and swung it. The liquid splashed over everyone present, hitting them all in the face!
Then, he coldly discarded the cup, raised his hand, and gently wiped the remaining sticky Coke off Katherine's face with his large hands, tucking her wet hair behind her ear, and said softly, "It's okay now, let's go home."
Katherine said nothing, nodded and followed him out of the chaotic fast-food restaurant.
She didn't want to argue with these clueless people, as they were all misled by the mastermind.
People watched as the imposing handsome man took the 'scammer girl' Katherine away, feeling disgruntled but not daring to stop them.
Although they didn't know who the man was, they felt an instinctive fear..
"That man was with her, right? Why should we fear him!"
"Yeah! Why fear him? If they're accomplices, we should film them both and expose them!"
Encouraged, everyone's courage grew, and they chased after them to film the pair.
