Chapter 715 Triplets? Twins?
A tall figure rushed out of the elevator.
Alex anxiously asked, "Where is she?"
Seeing Alex, Bernard immediately walked over with a stern face and grabbed his collar. "You bastard, you finally showed up!"
Teresa also hurried over. "Alex, Katherine is in labor. Go in and be with her!"
Alex couldn't waste a second, shaking off Bernard's hand and quickly pushing open the door to the delivery room.
A nurse immediately came over to stop him. "What are you doing? There's a woman in labor inside, no outsiders allowed!"
Alex urgently said, "I'm the father of the child!"
Hearing that, the nurse finally relented. "If you're the father, why are you just arriving now? Come in quickly, but you need to change into sterile clothes before you can be with her!"
Alex didn't have time to explain. He quickly entered, took off his coat, changed into sterile clothes, and followed the nurse into the innermost sterile operating room.
Outside the door, he could already hear Katherine's faint whimpering; she sounded utterly exhausted.
Alex's heart clenched. He quickly walked to the bedside, took Katherine's weak hand in his, and said in a deep, reassuring voice, "Katherine, I'm here!"
Katherine, drenched in sweat, was momentarily stunned upon hearing Alex's voice. She looked at him in disbelief before grabbing his arm and biting down with all her strength.
Despite the pain, Alex didn't flinch. He knelt beside her and whispered soothingly in her ear, "Don't be afraid. I'm here with you."
Soon, Katherine heard the loud cry of a newborn baby.
The doctor professionally held up the newborn, freshly cleaned, and announced to Alex, "Congratulations, it's a boy!"
Alex looked at the baby in the doctor's arms, his eyes brimming with tenderness and the overwhelming emotion of becoming a father for the first time.
Noticing Alex's lack of response, the doctor felt a bit concerned and called out, "Sir?"
Alex snapped back to reality, reached out to take the baby, and then immediately turned and quickly walked out!
The doctor and nurses were all shocked. "Sir, you can't take the baby out now!"
The delivering doctor was about to chase after Alex when a nurse suddenly shouted, "Wait! It seems there's another baby; the head is already out!"
The doctor immediately stopped and turned back to check. "That's right; there's another baby!"
The assisting doctor said, "That gentleman was the father. He probably just couldn't wait to show the baby to the other family members. Let's focus on delivering the mother!"
Everyone agreed and continued to help deliver the next baby.
Katherine, who had fainted from exhaustion, instinctively pushed and gave birth to two more babies.
"The second one, another boy! Very healthy!"
"Doctor, there's still one more!"
"It's been a long time since our hospital delivered triplets!"
"The last one, a little girl! How wonderful!"
When Katherine woke up, she saw a group of people gathered around her, looking at her with a mix of curiosity and amazement.
She felt weak all over, her lower body still aching, and she couldn't sit up.
Teresa, standing by the bed with tears of joy in her eyes, exclaimed, "Katherine, you're incredible. You gave birth to a boy and a girl!
Katherine knew she was carrying multiples, but during her escape from the Melville family, she hadn't had regular check-ups due to limited resources. For a long time, she was unsure of the exact number.
Later, when she returned to Janetrick, the doctor confirmed she was having more than one baby. She remembered the doctor saying it was triplets.
Bernard gently stroked Katherine's forehead. "You did great. Both babies are healthy."
Katherine, still a bit dazed, wondered if she had remembered correctly about having triplets. She asked, "Where are the babies? Let me see them."
Ambrosia came over and explained, "Katherine, the babies were born prematurely and, being multiples, need to be in incubators under professional care. Don't worry; they are all healthy."
Katherine, too weak to think much, trusted Ambrosia's words and nodded. "Okay, as long as they're healthy. When I can see them, have the nurse bring them to me."
Ambrosia naturally agreed, "Of course!"
After asking about the babies, Katherine instinctively looked around the people surrounding her bed, clearly searching for someone. Not seeing who she wanted, she confusedly asked, "Where's Alex?"
Everyone around the bed fell silent for a moment.
Frank was the first to speak, "Katherine, he hasn't returned yet! You went into labor suddenly; it takes time for him to get back."
Teresa glanced at Frank and quickly added, "Yes, Katherine, Alex hasn't come back yet! When he does, he'll come to see you right away!"
'Not back?' Katherine frowned.'How could that be?'
She clearly remembered seeing Alex in the delivery room and biting his arm hard.
Seeing Katherine's confused look, everyone felt a bit guilty.
When Katherine hadn't finished delivering, Alex came out of the delivery room with the first baby, then quickly disappeared with the baby while they weren't paying attention.
Now, they couldn't reach him!
They were afraid Katherine would be further stressed after just giving birth, so they agreed not to tell her that Alex had taken one of the babies.
They planned to find Alex and the first baby, figure out what was going on, and then explain to Katherine.
Katherine, still in a daze, wondered if she had hallucinated from wanting to see him too much in the delivery room.
By this time, Alex's plane should have landed. Why hadn't he come to see her yet?
To divert Katherine's attention, Bernard said, "Katherine, you should rest! I've arranged for people to watch over the babies. There won't be any problems; don't worry."
Katherine asked, "Where's my phone?"
She wanted to call Alex, tell him she had given birth, ask why he hadn't come back, and scold him for breaking his promise!
Bernard frowned and gently stroked her tired face. "You shouldn't look at your phone right now; it's bad for your eyes."
