Chapter 824 Great Discovery
"Miss, my name is Linda. About four years ago, my parents had a big fight, and my mom left home with me in a fit of anger. We got into a car accident on the way and were rushed to the hospital, where my mom urgently needed a blood transfusion."
"Because my mom's blood type is quite rare, the hospital's blood bank didn't have enough, and they urgently needed someone to donate blood for her. You showed up just in time and donated blood to my mom, which saved her life! Later, we found out that you were pregnant at the time, yet you still donated blood to my mom!"
After hearing Linda's account, everyone turned their eyes to Katherine, filled with admiration, love, and sympathy.
With Linda's reminder, Katherine recalled the incident. At that time, her blood wasn't enough, and when the nurse found out she was pregnant, she refused to draw her blood. So, Katherine had to ask Bernard to donate some blood as well.
If no one had mentioned it, she would never have remembered this incident. It was such a coincidence that this little girl was also dining at the same restaurant today.
"So it was you! I remember now. How is your mom doing?" Katherine asked politely.
"My mom has been in good health these past few years, but she always regretted not being able to find her savior to thank her properly. Finally, I found you. My mom will be so happy to see you!"
Katherine didn't plan to meet the girl's parents. She just couldn't stand by and do nothing back then, and she didn't seek any recognition, let alone today.
"As long as your mom is doing well, that's all that matters. I won't go to see her."
Linda looked a bit frustrated, "Why not? Miss, my parents are dining in this restaurant right now. Just meet them and let them thank you properly. It would mean a lot to them!"
Katherine shook her head lightly, "No need. Let them enjoy their meal. I don't want to disturb them."
Linda insisted, "It won't be a disturbance! Miss, please wait here. I'll go tell my parents that their savior is here!"
With that, Linda turned to run out.
Katherine grabbed her arm, "Wait!"
"Miss, I know you want to do good deeds without leaving your name, but my mom has always wanted to find you. Please understand."
"That's not why I stopped you."
"Then why?"
Katherine scrutinized her, "Didn't you just tell the waiter you were lost? How do you suddenly know where your parents are?"
Linda looked guilty, "I...I just remembered!"
This explanation didn't convince Katherine, "Are you not telling the truth?"
How could Linda tell the truth?
At that moment, the same waiter came back and knocked on the door.
Frank said, "Come in," and the waiter hurried in, "Sorry to interrupt again! We've found this little girl's family. They are not in the upstairs private room but in the downstairs hall. She wandered upstairs by mistake! I'll take her to her family now."
With that, the waiter took Linda's hand, "Miss, come with me. I'll take you to your family!"
Seeing the waiter come to take her, Katherine loosened her grip and let the waiter take Linda away.
After this small episode, everyone reminded Katherine not to risk her health to save strangers in the future.
But Katherine was still suspicious. The little girl didn't seem foolish; she appeared smart and articulate. How could she have wandered upstairs knowing her family was downstairs?
There was something fishy about this.
As she pondered, she noticed Julian sneaking out while everyone was distracted.
She frowned but didn't stop him, instead quietly following him.
Julian had heard the waiter say that Linda's family was in the downstairs hall and guessed that his dad, Trevor, might be among them. He wanted to go down and check.
After sneaking out, he quickened his pace to catch up with the waiter and Linda, but in his haste, he missed a step and almost tumbled down the stairs!
Luckily, someone grabbed him just in time, saving him from a fall.
Julian, still shaken, turned to thank his savior, only to be stunned.
"Mommy! Why are you here?"
Katherine hadn't planned to reveal herself, wanting to see what Julian was up to. But his near accident forced her hand.
"What are you sneaking out for this time?"
Julian, flustered, said, "I just wanted to check downstairs."
Katherine furrowed her brows, "Check what?"
Julian's gaze was wandering, his hand unconsciously tugging as he replied, "Just to look around."
Katherine pressed, "Tell the truth. Do you know that little girl who wandered into the wrong room and wanted to follow her downstairs?"
Caught, Julian admitted, "Yes, Mommy, you're so smart. I can't hide anything from you."
Katherine raised an eyebrow, "Since you know you can't hide anything, spill it. Who is that little girl, and how do you know her?"
Julian sighed, "She's my aunt."
Katherine was surprised, "What do you mean? Is she Sophia's sister?"
"Yes, she's Sophia's sister."
"Isn't Sophia rumored to be Brent's only daughter? How does she have a sister?"
Julian explained, "Auntie Linda and Sophia don't have the same mom. Before Auntie Linda was born, Sophia was indeed an only child. After Auntie Linda was born, because she and her mom are very low-key, many people don't know about her."
So that was how it was, Katherine thought, piecing together the relationships.
If that girl was Sophia's sister, then the woman she saved years ago must be Sophia's stepmother, Brent's current wife.
