Chapter 211 Do Lovers Finally Become Family?

As Katherine entered the living room, the conversation halted abruptly, and curious glances turned her way.

"Who is she? How did she just walk in like that?" whispered one girl.

Another girl joked, "Is she going for a wet-look seduction or something?"

A third girl sneered, "She's just wearing ordinary jeans. Who could she possibly seduce like that?"

"But her face is really beautiful," remarked a guy, breaking the scrutiny.

"Who brought this girl? I've never seen her before," wondered another.

While people were scrutinizing and commenting on her appearance, they were also speculating about her identity.

Katherine paid no heed to the stares, intent on finding Hilton, the villa's owner, to borrow some clean clothes. She scanned the room, but Hilton seemed to have disappeared after mentioning the bathroom. Where had he gone?

Jonathan, noticing her distress, set down his wine glass and approached her. "Katherine, what happened? How did you end up like this?"

Hearing Jonathan's voice, Katherine turned to him. It had been a while since they last meeting, and this man was still as charming as ever, with features as delicate as a painting, red lips, and white teeth. Every move he made was elegant and precise.

She answered, "It's you, Jonathan. It's time for you to be useful! Did you bring plus one today?"

Although Katherine was in a wet and messy state, she remained calm and composed, with a mischievous and confident expression, just like usual.

Jonathan, slightly amused, replied seriously, "No, but I have a female colleague with me. She's waiting in the car outside. Katherine, what do you need?"

Katherine nodded thoughtfully. "Can you ask your subordinate if she has spare clothes? I'd like to borrow something to change into."

"Sure thing, just a moment." Jonathan understood her meaning and took out his phone to make a call. "Angela, could you bring over a set of your clean clothes over right away?"

After a brief explanation, he hung up the phone and smiled at Katherine. Angela has a spare outfit in the car. She'll bring it over shortly."

Katherine sincerely thanked him. "Thank you, Jonathan!"

Jonathan fell silent, not entirely accustomed to being thanked so genuinely.

Meanwhile, among the other guests, whispers began to circulate. "Hey, look! Mr. Mostow is talking to that wet woman!"

A second guest asked, "What's heppening? Is sh Mr. Mostow's date?"

A third guest scoffed, "Mr. Mostow's dates are always high-profile ladies. Why is he with a girl we don't even know today?"

A fourth guy said, "That girl may be dressed plainly, but she's really beautiful!"

Someone else rebutted, "What's the use of just being beautiful? To be Mr. Mostow's companion, status is more important than looks!"

A fifth guest added, "Exactly! What makes her think she can talk to Mr. Mostow? Her clothes look like cheap stuff without any recognizable brand!"

A sixth guest snorted, "We're dressed more decently than she is! How can she be worthy of talking to Mr. Mostow?"

This simple birthday party was just a gathering of Hilton's close friends and brothers, and some of them had brought their female companions along to join the fun.

Most of the people gossiping were these female companions, including popular celebrities, social media influencers, and some daughters from small families.

Jonathan, visibly displeased by their remarks, turned to Katherine and gently suggested, "Katherine, it's too noisy here. Come upstairs with me. I'll find a towel for you to dry off."

She answered, "Alright, thank you."

Katherine accepted Jonathan's kindness calmly because she didn't want to stand there being judged by those people either. It was too noisy, so she followed Jonathan upstairs.

As they ascended the stairs, Jonathan observed Katherine beside him with a thoughtful expression. His usually smiling eyes seemed to be pondering something. "Katherine, where's Alex? How could he let you come in like this alone?"

Katherine's demeanor remained composed as she answered, "He's outside, probably still concerned about his savior, Miss Mitchell."

Detecting a hint of bitterness in Katherine's tone, Jonathan smiled knowingly. "What? Are you two having a tiff because of Scarlett?"

Katherine's expression remained unchanged, and she replied in a calm tone, "No, I understand Mr. Melville's concern for his savior. I wouldn't get upset over something like that."

Jonathan was surprised by her rationality but didn't entirely believe she was unaffected. He stared at her with a probing gaze for a while before sighing meaningfully. "Alex has always been very good to Scarlett. I've always thought Alex and Scarlett might end up together before you came along."

Katherine raised an eyebrow slightly. End up together? Did Jonathan imply there was something romantic between Alex and Scarlett?

Jonathan continued, "I know Alex well. He's reserved but honorable. Scarlett saved his life, so he feels indebted to her. In fact, over the years, Alex's care, protection, and tolerance for Scarlett have been impeccable. However, such things are not good for a wife. After all, it's hard for a girl to accept her husband caring about another woman. It's no wonder you would be jealous, Katherine!"

Katherine chose not to respond, feeling it wasn't worth explaining.

She wasn't jealous; she was angry!

She was angry that Alex had asked her what was going on in such a distrustful tone!

That attitude clearly showed he suspected she might have done what Bernard described to Scarlett!

She had thought Alex understood her, but now it seemed he didn't know her at all and even thought of her in such a lowly way!

Yes, she didn't appreciate Scarlett's two-faced nature and didn't want to have any dealings with her.

But even if she disliked Scarlett, she wouldn't use such lowly means to bully her!

Honestly, she had no interest in wasting time and energy on someone like Scarlett!

It was Scarlett who kept coming to her, again and again!

How boring!

Jonathan led her to a vacant guest room, fetched a towel from the bathroom, and handed it to her.

"Dry yourself off first! This is Hilton's master guest room. It's rarely used, so everything here is regularly replaced. Feel free to use it; the towel is new."Jonathan reassured her, his consideration evident in the details he provided.
