Chapter 450 Got an Idea
Fiona didn't want Jonathan and Katherine chatting, so she dragged Katherine out of the store. Once outside, she let go and muttered, "Hmph! Seductress!"
Katherine shrugged and asked, "What should we eat?"
Fiona, seeing Katherine's indifference, got even angrier. "I saw Jonathan's phone wallpaper—it's your photo! Isn't it enough you're messing with my brother? Why string Jonathan along too?"
Katherine hadn't noticed Jonathan's phone earlier. Surprised, she remembered Jonathan taking some photos of her at Moonlight Manor while helping Teresa. He must've saved one.
Jonathan really has no boundaries!
As Katherine headed to a nearby barbecue joint, she casually said, "Even if I deny it, you won't believe me. Stop talking nonsense! Let's eat, I'm hungry!"
Fiona, still fuming, followed her.
At the barbecue place, after ordering, Fiona sat across from Katherine, arms crossed, glaring like Katherine owed her millions.
Katherine grilled meat, glancing at Fiona. "Why so mad? I talked to another guy. Perfect chance for you to tattle to Alex."
Fiona snapped, "I'm afraid you'll hurt Alex!"
Katherine smirked. "Isn't that what you want? Didn't you set me up before to make it look like I cheated so the Melville family would kick me out? Then Alex could get a sister-in-law you approve of!"
Fiona went silent, feeling guilty and ashamed about her past scheme.
She had impulsively decided to tarnish Katherine's reputation after a chat with Scarlett. Now, she realized she had gone too far. Luckily, Katherine was smart and didn't fall for it.
Oddly, the thought of Alex getting a new sister-in-law made Fiona uncomfortable.
"Katherine, I know you don't like Jonathan, but you're beautiful. Men will try to mess with you. Be careful and don't let Alex down!"
Katherine raised an eyebrow. "You're worried I'll let Alex down?"
Fiona stiffened. "You've got Alex wrapped around your finger. What can I do? I can't get rid of you now!"
Katherine chuckled, dipping some meat for her. "Eat up! You can't even do basic math, and you're worrying about adult stuff!"
Fiona blushed, feeling defiant. "Hey! I'm a year older than you!"
Katherine kept eating. "Good that you know."
Fiona was speechless. "Katherine!"
Both of them were hungry and focused on eating. Suddenly, Katherine heard a somewhat unfamiliar voice calling her name but couldn't immediately place it.
Who could it be now?
What kind of day was this, running into people she knew left and right?
She turned and saw a tall, skinny guy in a white T-shirt and jeans walking over.
The guy's face lit up with joy, and he scratched his head shyly. "Katherine, it's really you! I saw someone who looked like you through the glass and had to check! I haven't seen you since graduation..."
She recognized him as Nathan Norris from Janetrick University.
Katherine nodded politely. "Yeah, long time no see. Are you out shopping?"
Nathan shook his head. "No, I'm working part-time as a tutor, handing out flyers near the school. I got hungry and came in to grab a bite."
Katherine smiled. "That sounds tough."
She wasn't very familiar with Nathan, but he stood out because he was good-looking, smart, and a good basketball player. Plus, he always seemed to be around her.
On graduation day, he even gave her a button as a keepsake.
Originally, Katherine didn't plan to invite him to join them since they weren't that close. But she noticed Fiona blushing and looking flustered because of Nathan.
She remembered Fiona liked Nathan and had even written him a love letter, only to be rejected.
Katherine's eyebrows raised slightly, changing her mind. "Want to join us for a meal? It's a rare coincidence, my treat!"
Nathan, who saw Katherine as a goddess, was both surprised and delighted. "Can I?"
Katherine smiled. "Of course! Sit over there!"
She pointed to the seat next to Fiona.
Nathan happily nodded and only then noticed Fiona. "Fiona?"
Fiona blushed, looking embarrassed. "Nathan..."
Nathan smiled. "Fiona, you know Katherine?"
Fiona shyly nodded, her usual arrogance gone, sitting like a well-behaved girl.
Girls tend to act more ladylike in front of someone they like.
Katherine watched Fiona's transformation, smiling as she called the waiter to add more dishes.
Fiona was nervous because of Nathan, and Nathan was shy because of Katherine. Both of them blushed.
Katherine, unaffected, continued eating and chatting with Nathan. "How's work? The pay for tutoring should be decent, right?"
Nathan awkwardly scratched his head. "I'm just handing out flyers right now. No one has hired me as a tutor yet."
Katherine squinted slightly, glancing at Fiona, who was eating in smaller bites, and suddenly had an idea.
"How much do you charge for tutoring?"
Nathan replied, "I'm new, 80 dollars an hour."
Katherine said, "That's not expensive!"
When Alex arrived, he immediately recognized Nathan as the student who had given Katherine the second button on her chest. His face darkened instantly.
