Chapter 451 Flirting with Another Guy

Nathan was a shy guy but also the top student and student council president, so he knew a lot about the school. After a bit, he loosened up and started chatting with Katherine about the latest school news. It wasn't the usual gossip, but funny and positive stories.

Katherine didn't know most of the students Nathan mentioned, but they sounded interesting, so she occasionally asked, "And then?"

Then a guy showed up, pulled out a chair, and sat next to her, giving off a cold vibe that cut Nathan's story short.

Nathan was shocked to see Alex suddenly sit down. Alex's intense presence made him uneasy.

At first, Nathan was confused, but then he remembered seeing Alex at Katherine's graduation.

Alex stood out with his looks and aura, leaving a strong impression. Katherine had called him "uncle" back then, so Nathan figured he was a relative.

Wanting to impress Katherine's relative, Nathan stood up and said, "Hello, Uncle Alex!"

Alex's face got even colder. He was already sensitive about the nearly ten-year age gap between him and Katherine. He often didn't get some of the words she used and had to look them up. The generation gap wasn't huge, but it was there.

And now, this student, who was Katherine's peer, calling him "uncle" just highlighted that gap.

Nathan, not getting a response, wondered if he had messed up and said, "Uncle Alex, the Katherine Building you donated to our school is finished. On behalf of everyone, thanks for your contribution to education!"

Alex took a sip from Katherine's glass to stay silent.

Seeing this, Nathan frowned, thinking it wasn't right to share a glass, even if Alex was an elder.

Fiona noticed Alex's displeasure and worried Nathan might make things worse. She said, "Nathan, this is my brother..."

Nathan was stunned and embarrassed. "Uh... I thought this gentleman was introduced as Katherine's uncle. Are you all related?"

Before Fiona could answer, Katherine said, "No, he's my husband."

Nathan was shocked, like he'd been hit by lightning, and couldn't speak for a moment.

Hearing Katherine call him "husband" softened Alex's expression. He turned to her with a gentle smile, his gaze tender.

Nathan struggled to accept it. Alex and Katherine didn't seem to be in the same age group, so he thought Katherine was joking.

"But I remember... this gentleman was at the graduation as Katherine's guardian?"

Alex shot a sharp look at Nathan. "Who said a husband can't be a guardian?"

Nathan was speechless, his brows furrowed.

When Katherine ordered extra dishes earlier, she made sure to include Alex's portion.

When Katherine and Fiona first sat down at the barbecue place, Alex texted her to ask if she was done shopping. She replied with the restaurant's address, knowing he'd show up.

Alex's direct question about her shopping plans showed that the family driver had kept him updated. She wasn't surprised.

"Alex, you got off work early today?" Katherine asked casually, dropping the formality she used with others.

"I finished my meeting and had nothing else to do, so I came to pick you up." He tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear and teased, "Eating greasy food behind my back again?"

Katherine pouted. "I was craving it!"

Seeing this, Nathan's hopes were crushed. He hadn't expected Katherine to be married so soon. He thought if he worked hard, he could confess his feelings after graduation. But someone else had already won her heart.

Feeling awkward, Nathan forced a smile. "Katherine, when did you get married?"

Katherine thought for a moment. "Just before the graduation ceremony!"

Technically, she and Alex weren't really married then; it was more of a partnership. But now they were truly together, so she counted it from that time.

"...I see," Nathan said, his heart sinking.

He no longer felt like sharing his stories and wanted to leave but didn't want to be rude. So he ate quietly for a bit before standing up. "Thanks for the treat. Katherine, I'll invite some classmates to return the favor another day. I need to get back to handing out flyers."

Katherine nodded and then turned to Fiona, who had been eyeing Nathan. "Fiona, are you full? Why don't you go help Nathan hand out flyers?"

Fiona was surprised, her face turning red. She usually scoffed at handing out flyers, but with Nathan, she was more than willing.

Nathan shook his head. "No need, there's not much left."

Katherine smiled. "It's fine! She's on a diet, so walking around will help her digest."

Fiona quickly nodded. "Uh... right! Nathan, I'm trying to lose weight."

Nathan didn't doubt Katherine and turned to Fiona. "You're not fat; why do you need to lose weight?"

Being told by her crush that she wasn't fat made Fiona blush and her heart race.

Nathan thought Katherine wanted him to take Fiona away to give them some alone time. He was happy to help but felt a bit bitter.

Fiona eagerly followed Nathan, even forgetting the Hermes bag she had just bought.

Katherine watched them leave, a smile on her lips.

"While I'm not around, you have the mood to flirt with a handsome college boy?" Alex's deep voice carried a hint of displeasure.
