Chapter 635 What Are You Laughing At?
With her baby bump and her body leaning, Katherine looked like she might topple over any second . Jonathan reached out to steady her, and suddenly, they were way too close for comfort.
Katherine felt the awkwardness and tried to get up and leave, but Jonathan held her down. "Katherine, come on! You can't just shut out all guys because Alex was a jerk. I'm not him; I'd never do that to you."
Teresa went home, freshened up, and then had her driver take her out again. She rolled up to the Crescent Group building, checked the time, and saw it was still too early for lunch.
She thought about going inside to wait but hesitated, realizing she might bump into Frank. So, she decided to chill at the coffee shop across the street instead.
At the coffee shop, she ordered a latte and shot Anthony a message, letting him know she was waiting downstairs and not to rush.
Sitting by the window, watching the street, Teresa's mind was blank. But then her phone buzzed, snapping her out of her thoughts.
She thought it was Anthony replying, but nope, it was a message from Frank. [You up? I'm heading back to bring lunch to Katherine later. Want anything? I'll grab it for you too.]
Seeing the message, Teresa could almost picture Frank's smiling face. She had always been drawn to his gentle vibe.
Teresa shook her head, reminding herself she was waiting for Anthony and shouldn't be thinking about Frank.
She replied: [Thanks, but no need.]
A bit later, Frank replied: [So you're not eating anything? What if you get hungry?]
Annoyed, Teresa frowned and replied: [Thanks, but I'm having lunch with my boyfriend. I won't starve.]
A minute later, Frank sent her a cheeky emoji.
Teresa didn't get what the emoji meant and didn't think much of it. But then, Anthony messaged her, apologizing: [Teresa, I'm sorry! We just got notified of a meeting, and we have to eat during it. Maybe you should head home first, and I'll come find you after work, okay?]
Seeing Anthony's message, Teresa thought of the cheeky emoji Frank had just sent. A sudden meeting? No way that was a coincidence. She replied to Anthony: [It's okay. We'll meet after you get off work.]
Then, she messaged Frank: [Did you do this?]
Frank sent a smiling emoji: [What did I do?]
Teresa: [A sudden meeting, lunch during the meeting, was that your doing?]
Frank replied: [Yep! Wanted to treat my awesome employees. How about that? Am I a good boss or what?]
Teresa sent an angry emoji: [You're too much! Are you happy now that I made a wasted trip?]
Frank: [You didn't make a wasted trip.]
Teresa: [I totally did! I hate you!]
As she angrily typed to vent her frustration, she heard someone pull out a chair and sit across from her.
Teresa was stunned for a sec. When she looked up, there was Frank, grinning like a Cheshire cat. She realized this was what he meant by not making a wasted trip.
Frank flagged down a waiter and ordered a coffee, then looked at Teresa with that same smile. "So happy to see me you’re speechless?"
Teresa snapped out of it, put down her phone, and glared at him. "How did you know I was here?"
Frank propped his chin on his hand, still smiling. "Maybe it's just good luck?"
Teresa got even more annoyed. "Frank! What do you want?"
Frank cut to the chase, "To pursue you."
Teresa's face froze, then turned red. She awkwardly cleared her throat, "Stop joking with me!"
Frank looked her dead in the eye. "I'm not joking. I've been confessing to you since yesterday, but you haven't taken me seriously."
Teresa frowned. "Seriously? Do you even know how to be serious, Mr. Perez?"
Frank lowered his gaze and nodded. "I didn't before, but you made me learn."
Seeing Teresa fall silent, Frank didn't feel awkward and gently asked, "What do you want for lunch? After we eat, we can pack some for Katherine and take it back to her."
Teresa turned to look out the window. "I don't think I agreed to have lunch with you."
Frank smiled. "You're already here. Just think of it as a taste test for Katherine's lunch, okay?"
Frank was smooth with his words. She had no reason to refuse. After thinking about it, she figured she was gonna bring lunch to Katherine anyway, so she might as well eat with Frank.
But she didn't forget to lay down the law, "We can have lunch, but I have a boyfriend now. I hope you won't say anything that'll cause me trouble."
Frank didn't mind and smiled even more. "Okay. But it seems like no matter what I say, it causes you trouble. You don't even dare to look into my eyes."
Teresa was taken aback. She didn't dare to look directly into Frank's eyes because she was afraid of showing weakness!
Frank's eyes were beautiful and gentle. She had fallen for his tender gaze back then. If she looked into his eyes, she wouldn't be able to stay calm.
Teresa was with Anthony and absolutely wouldn't allow herself to become the kind of unfaithful woman she despised.
Seeing her in a bad mood, Frank sighed and stopped teasing her. "Have you decided what to eat?"
Teresa snapped out of it and shook her head. "Let's eat whatever Katherine likes."
Frank raised an eyebrow. "I know what Katherine liked to eat before she got pregnant, but her tastes have changed since then. I don't know what she likes now and what foods to avoid during pregnancy. You should know better than me, right?"
Teresa replied irritably, "I've never been pregnant, how would I know?"
Frank chuckled.
Teresa felt something was off and frowned. "What are you laughing at?"
