Chapter 859 They Are Both Your Brother
Katherine was completely confused. "What?"
Fiona crossed her arms, frowned, and leaned in closer, lowering her voice, "Katherine, do you think I'm blind? I can see what's on your neck!"
"What's on my neck?" Katherine was still puzzled until Fiona took out her phone and snapped a picture, showing her the marks on her neck through the camera.
Katherine's face turned red instantly, "This is..."
Fiona put her hands on her hips, "Don't lie to me! I know what this is! Katherine, how could you and Sunny..."
Katherine raised her hand and smacked Fiona on the head, "What nonsense are you talking about? Don't you know what my relationship with him is?"
Fiona clutched her head where Katherine had hit her, realizing it couldn't possibly be Sunny!
Sunny was Katherine's brother, so who could it be?
"Katherine, Alex has shown up! Didn't you say you would find a way to bring him home? You can't be falling for someone else now!"
Katherine rubbed her temples, "It's not what you think. Go change and get ready for your date! Don't worry about my business!"
She was too embarrassed to tell Fiona that she had seen Alex that morning, and even more embarrassed to say that the marks on her neck were Alex's doing.
Fiona was full of melancholy, "Katherine..."
"Shut up! If you keep talking, you won't be going out to see Nathan today!"
Thinking of Nathan, who was still waiting for her, Fiona hesitated for a moment and then quickly went to change and put on makeup.
After Fiona slipped away, Edith came over and tugged on Katherine's clothes, "Mommy, what was Aunt Fiona talking to you about?"
Katherine snapped back to reality and looked down at Edith, "Nothing! Come on, let's go inside!"
Edith pouted and stretched out her arms for a hug, "Mommy."
Katherine couldn't resist Edith's cuteness, so she bent down and scooped Edith into her arms, gently patting her back, "Mommy's here!"
Edith, feeling wronged, mumbled into Katherine's shoulder, "Mommy, I never want to talk to George again!"
Before Katherine could say anything, George angrily retorted, "I don't want to talk to you either!"
Edith turned her head and glared at him.
Katherine was exasperated, "Alright! Are you two going to keep this up forever? Over such a small thing, you want to end your sibling relationship? Who taught you that?"
Edith pouted, "That's how it is on TV! Mommy, why don't you send George away and bring back the previous brother? I liked him better; at least he wasn't so mean to me."
George was upset, "Mommy! Look at her, always saying I'm not as good as someone else!"
Katherine, holding Edith in one arm and taking George's hand with the other, said, "You two need to stop fighting! George, you need to change your attitude when talking to Edith! Edith, you can't say things like that to George. Whether it's George or the one Mommy mistakenly brought home before, they're both your brothers. We're a family, and soon, you'll see each other again."
As they walked, Katherine suddenly stopped and turned around, "Charles, what are you daydreaming about? Come on, it's noon, and the sun is very hot!"
Charles blinked, thinking Katherine had forgotten about him. He felt a bit down but was happy when she called out to him.
He responded and was about to run over to Katherine.
At that moment, George said, "Charles, can you help us get our Machine Man kite? I'm afraid the rain will ruin it!"
Charles nodded cheerfully, "Sure! Mommy, it's hot outside. You take George and Edith inside first! I'll get the kite and then come in!"
The kite was something Fiona had someone buy, and he liked it a lot too!
Just now, he and George had been so excited to see Katherine return that they had dropped the kite spool and run to her. The kite had probably fallen by the wall!
Seeing Charles insist, Katherine thought he wouldn't leave the yard, so she nodded and took George and Edith inside.
Once inside, she instructed the maid to go out and watch Charles.
Charles ran to the wall of the yard to find the kite and saw it had fallen by the small fence gate in the backyard. He quickly went over to pick it up.
As he was squatting down to pick up the kite, he suddenly heard someone talking to him.
"Hey, kiddo, want to buy a balloon?"
Charles stood up with the kite and looked at the guy standing outside the small fence gate, holding a bunch of helium balloons. He shook his head, "No, thanks! My mommy already bought us several balloons like these!"
The balloon seller smiled at his response, "What a sensible kid! You even know how to save money for your mommy!"
Charles was always polite, "Thank you, sir. You should ask elsewhere if anyone wants to buy balloons. I need to go back to my mommy now!"
With that, Charles was about to run back with the kite.
But the balloon seller called out to him again, "Wait a minute, kiddo, I have a few more things to say to you!"
Charles stopped and turned, looking at the balloon seller with a puzzled expression.
The balloon seller was waving at him, "Kiddo, come here! I want to talk to you!"
Katherine had always warned him not to get close to strangers, and he remembered it well. He stayed alert and took a few steps back, "Sir, if you have something to say, just say it from there. I can hear you fine!"
The balloon seller, seeing his cautiousness, smiled again, "Don't be afraid, kiddo. I'm not a bad person! Alright, we can talk like this."
Charles nodded, "Sir, if you have something to say, just say it."
The balloon seller looked around the yard and said, "Kiddo, I see you live in such a big house. You must be rich, right? It doesn't seem like a family that would be stingy about buying a few more balloons. Are they not treating you well?"
Charles frowned, "No, my family treats me very well! Sir, we don't buy more balloons not because we're stingy, but because we've bought so many that they're not fun anymore!"
The balloon seller squinted his eyes, his expression somewhat sly, "Really? I heard you're adopted. Sometimes adopted kids don't get treated as well as biological ones, especially in wealthy families."
