Chapter 373 Double Standards!

Scarlett eyed Katherine, who had just hung up, and flashed her most innocent smile.

"Katherine, you seem busy. Was that a guy on the phone?"

Katherine put her phone away, grabbed a pillow, and replied lazily, "Yeah, it was."

Scarlett's innocent look had a hint of sarcasm. "Does Alex know you're still talking to other guys behind his back?"

Katherine yawned. "Probably not."

Scarlett looked annoyed. "Alex doesn't know? That might not be good. If people find out you're inviting guys over when he's not home, they'll definitely gossip."

Katherine raised an eyebrow. "Scarlett, are you threatening to spread this around?"

Scarlett pouted. "No, how could I threaten you, Katherine? Just a friendly reminder!"

Katherine smiled slightly. "Threat or reminder, I don't care. If you want to spread it, go ahead! Call Alex now and tell him I invited another guy over while he was away!"

Scarlett was frustrated by Katherine's indifference. She knew Katherine wouldn't invite a guy over if it was something improper. She just wanted to annoy her.

Scarlett coldly smirked. "Katherine, you're overthinking it. I'm not the type to spread rumors or tell Alex!"

Not that type? Yeah, right.

Katherine glanced at Scarlett and didn't bother to respond.

Just then, a male servant came in with a takeout bag. "Mrs. Melville, your takeout has arrived."

Katherine nodded. "Okay, put it here."

The servant placed the takeout on the coffee table and left.

Katherine tossed the pillow aside and started unpacking the takeout. "Want some?" she asked.

Scarlett's eyes showed disdain for the cheap takeout. "No, I just ate."

Katherine smiled, her words light but firm. "If not, please stay away. I don't like being watched while I eat."

Scarlett's fake smile froze.

Fiona walked over from the dining room. "Scarlett, why are you still sitting with Katherine? Stay away from her; that cheap takeout is disgusting. You might catch something!"

She hurriedly pulled Scarlett away.

As Scarlett got up, she handed Katherine a half-drunk glass of milk. "Katherine, don't choke while eating. You can have this milk."

Scarlett pretended to lose her balance while handing over the milk, spilling it into Katherine's just-opened takeout box.

The milk ruined a perfectly good bowl of soup.

Scarlett covered her mouth, feigning surprise. "Oh no! Katherine, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to ruin your takeout."

Katherine stared at the ruined soup, silent.

Fiona laughed but showed fake concern. "Scarlett, don't worry about her. Are you okay? Did you hurt yourself?"

Scarlett shook her head, looking uneasy. "No, Fiona, I'm fine! It's just that I ruined Katherine's takeout."

Fiona dismissed it. "Scarlett, don't blame yourself! It's just a bit of milk. She doesn't mind eating takeout made with who-knows-what, so why worry about a little milk? Our milk is probably cleaner than her takeout!"

"Fiona, don't say that! It's still my fault!" Scarlett was secretly pleased but outwardly apologetic. "Katherine, you're not mad at me, are you? I'm really sorry. How about I pay you double for the takeout?"

"No need," Katherine finally spoke.

Then, she stood up with the takeout box and, without warning, dumped it over Scarlett's head.

Scarlett screamed from the heat, nearly breaking down as the cheap soup dripped down her head.

Fiona was shocked and shouted, "Katherine, what are you doing? Are you crazy?"

Katherine nonchalantly dusted off her hands, a faint smile on her lips. "Oh, sorry, I didn't mean to! My hand slipped, and I accidentally dumped it on your head! Scarlett, you won't be mad at me, right?"

Scarlett took a deep breath, gritting her teeth. "You."

Fiona stepped forward, defending Scarlett. "Katherine, you did that on purpose! How can you be so rude? Apologize to Scarlett right now!"

Katherine yawned. "Apologize? I didn't mean it, why should I apologize?"

Katherine could tolerate a lot, but ruining her eagerly awaited takeout was too much.

Scarlett calmed down, putting on a pitiful look. "Katherine, I just accidentally spilled a little milk on your takeout and even offered to pay you double. Did you really have to retaliate like this?"

Katherine shrugged. "I didn't retaliate! Just like you, it was an accident! And I never blamed you for your accident, so why blame me for mine? Scarlett, forgive me for saying this, but you're being a bit hypocritical!"

"I..." Scarlett was instantly speechless.
