Chapter 83 Unethical Deeds
Katherine's eyes were half-closed, and she was lazily enjoying Ambrosia's moderate massage. She responded faintly, "Recently, I've been entangled by a big bad wolf, constantly facing problems, and my personal freedom is quite restricted."
Ambrosia's eyes full of wisdom behind her gold-rimmed glasses narrowed slightly, and then she asked, "Is the big bad wolf you're referring to the young master of the Melville Group?"
Thinking of Alex... Katherine's brow furrowed slightly, and she responded with some irritation.
Katherine hadn't specifically told Ambrosia about recent events, but she wasn't surprised that Ambrosia knew. That was all thanks to Frank, who was keen on spreading gossip.
Frank brought some snacks over to Katherine, then elegantly squatted down to massage Katherine's legs, wearing a gossipy smile on his face, saying, "How's your marriage life? Is your sex life harmonious?"
Katherine had just opened a bag of chips to eat, and hearing Frank's teasing, her cheeks couldn't help but flush. She rolled her eyes and said, "Get lost!"
Frank laughed, lowered his head, and obediently continued massaging her legs, not daring to gossip further.
Ambrosia reached for a folder on the desk and handed it to Katherine, "Katherine, this is the company's recent financial report. Take a look."
Katherine took the folder, opened it, and skimmed through it, nodding in satisfaction.
"Mm, very good. This quarter's data has improved significantly compared to the last quarter," she remarked.
Then, based on the data in the financial report, Katherine instructed Ambrosia on some areas that needed improvement.
Frank listened as well, and after hearing it all, he stood up and complained, "Katherine, you don't manage Crescent Group, but you go off to be Sherry's assistant. Isn't this putting the cart before the horse?"
"Crescent Group is in good hands with you two. As for being Sherry's assistant, it won't be for long." Katherine's expression turned serious, and she asked, "By the way, did you find out about the person I asked you to investigate yesterday?"
Frank nodded and explained, "Kenny is now a top-notch director in the country. He is originally from Eirena, a talent from a small city. Before he became famous, Kenny did a lot of behind-the-scenes work. Later, he met his current wife, Stella Evans, while working. With the Evans family's support, Kenny made his first art film, which won him the Best Director award, and he became famous."
"The key point is that before Kenny became famous, he had an unknown relationship with Lillian. They lived together for more than two years but later broke up because Lillian found someone new. Additionally, I found out that not long ago, Lillian went to a private hospital for a paternity test, bribed the director with a hundred thousand dollars, and forged a paternity test report. Lillian had the hospital change the result from 'no biological relationship' to 'biological father-daughter relationship.' And the two people in that report were Kenny and Sherry," he continued.
Hearing this, Katherine smirked.
No wonder the proud Kenny would be so attentive to the talentless Sherry; he thought Sherry was his biological daughter.
This was the disgusting thing that old woman Lillian did. She broke Joshua's family and made Kenny falsely happy, thinking he had a daughter.
But now that the matter was clear, the next steps would be easier.
Ambrosia personally brewed a cup of coffee and brought it to Katherine. Then she remarked, "Katherine, there's a big construction project recently, and they specifically requested you to design it. Will you take it?"
Katherine took the coffee, sipped it calmly, and asked, "What project?"
Ambrosia adjusted her gold-rimmed glasses and said truthfully, "Designing the new office building for the Melville Group."
Katherine fell silent.
Hearing the words "the Melville Group", the coffee in Katherine's mouth suddenly lost its flavor.
Ambrosia continued to explain in detail, "Katherine, due to the city's expansion, the city center is moving north. The Melville Group building, which was originally in the city center, is now far from it. So, the Melville Group wants to rebuild their office building in the new city center."
"The Melville Group initiated this project. Their president, Mr. Melville, you know, specifically requested that the designer of Crescent Tower, Moon, design their new building," she then added.
Katherine's brow furrowed; Moon was her professional alias.
Hearing that this project was related to Alex, Katherine didn't hesitate at all and said, "No!"
"But Katherine, the Melville Group is offering this much for the design fee." Frank, standing nearby, held up one finger.

Katherine almost choked on her coffee. That guy was really loaded.
Their Crescent Group was established not long ago and was still in the business expansion phase. Although the company's market value was soaring, they had little liquid cash on hand.

Frank and Ambrosia exchanged a glance, sensing that Katherine seemed tempted.

Frank smiled, "Alright then, your Mr. Melville will be here soon, and you two can discuss it face-to-face."
Katherine was sipping her coffee thoughtfully when she suddenly realized something was off. She looked up at Frank and spoke up, "What? Who did you say is coming?"
Frank grinned mischievously, then answered, "Katherine, your Honey is coming."
Ambrosia, annoyed by Frank's unseriousness, pushed him aside and calmly explained to Katherine, "Katherine, Alex is impressed with the design of Crescent Tower. He said he wants to tour the interior of our building today and also meet the designer, Moon."
Katherine frowned seriously and said, "Alex can tour Crescent Tower all he wants, but I won't meet him."
Ambrosia nodded, and then said, "Yes, Katherine. I understand."
Frank asked curiously, "Why won't you meet him, Katherine? If Mr. Melville finds out you're the designer of Crescent Tower, he might see you in a new light. He might even become infatuated with you."
Katherine showed no interest and replied, "Once our three-month collaboration ends, I won't have any further relationship with him. The same goes for you all; aside from work-related matters, don't have any personal interactions with him, and definitely don't let him know about my connection to you or Crescent."
Frank was puzzled and said, "Katherine, don't be so heartless. What if you two have feelings for each other over the three months..."
"That won't happen!" Katherine interrupted him sternly, and then asked, "When is Alex expected to arrive?"
Ambrosia glanced at her watch and then answered, "Around this time; he should be here soon."
Just as she finished speaking, Mia knocked on the door and said, "Ms. Hawthorne, Mr. Perez, Mr. Melville from the Melville Group is here."
