Chapter 711 He Is the Most Important

Hearing Katherine call her Mrs. Sandra Melville instead of just Sandra made Sandra feel uneasy.

She worried that Katherine still hadn't forgiven Alex and that Alex might not be able to win back such an incredible woman!

Afraid that Katherine might misunderstand her intentions, Sandra quickly explained, "Katherine, please don't misunderstand. I'm here to see you today, not because of your pregnancy! Even if you weren't pregnant, I would still come to see you! I promise!"

As she spoke, Sandra raised her hand in a playful oath.

Katherine was momentarily taken aback but then reached out to lower Sandra's hand. "Yes, I believe you. Sandra, you don't have to do that!"

Hearing Katherine call her Sandra in a more affectionate tone, Sandra felt a bit more at ease and withdrew her hand.

"Katherine, I'm so glad you believe me! I was worried you might think I only care about your pregnancy. While I am excited about having a great-grandchild, I want you to know that you are what matters most to me!" Sandra continued.

Fiona nodded vigorously to support Sandra. "It's true, Katherine, Grandma is really worried about you! Grandpa said that she even calls your name in her sleep!"

Katherine smiled.

Sandra looked at Charles, who was snuggling close to Katherine. It was clear how much Katherine cared for Charles; otherwise, he wouldn't be so attached to her.

Because of this, Sandra thought highly of Katherine.

Charles wasn't Katherine's biological child, yet she treated him as if he were her own.

Such a compassionate granddaughter-in-law was truly rare!

If Alex lost Katherine again, Sandra would be very upset!

When Charles saw the Melville family members, he thought they were there to take him away. He clung tightly to Katherine, not wanting to leave Kate.

Sensing Charles' unease, Katherine gently patted him to comfort him, "It's okay. Don't be afraid. No one is here to take you away!"

Hearing Kate say this herself, Charles relaxed a bit.

Katherine politely asked, "Sandra, have you had breakfast? Would you like to have some here?"

Sandra waved her hand. "No, no, Fiona and I have already eaten at home."

Katherine nodded. "Alright."

Sandra's eyes took on a curious look. She glanced at the servants standing nearby, then leaned closer to Katherine and asked in a low voice, "Katherine, living here with the Mitchell family, have they treated you well, considering you're married into our Melville family?"

Katherine replied, "Yes, they've been very kind to me."

Sandra furrowed her brows in confusion. "Really? Normally, the Mitchell family doesn't show much respect towards us Melvilles."

Fiona also looked puzzled and asked, "Yeah, I find it odd too! Katherine, why are you staying with the Mitchell family? And Bernard seems very attentive to you! Is he trying to pursue you, taking advantage of your conflict with Alex?"

Hearing Fiona say this, Sandra also looked concerned, worried that the Mitchell family might try to win Katherine over.

"Katherine, is that true? Is Mr. Bernard Mitchell trying to pursue you?" Sandra asked.

Katherine forced a smile. "Sandra, it's not what you think. Mr. Bernard Mitchell doesn't have those kinds of intentions towards me."

She didn't want to reveal her relationship with the Mitchell family just yet.

Staying with the Mitchell family was a temporary measure, not a genuine attempt to reconnect with them.

And now that the misunderstanding between her and Alex was finally resolved, she didn't want to create more obstacles between them.

The feud between the two families had a long history. If the Melville family knew she was a Mitchell by blood, they might not agree to her marriage with Alex.

Sandra cautiously held Katherine's hand and lowered her voice. "Katherine, don't be too naive! Why would a grown man be nice to a woman for no reason? He either wants to pursue you or sees you as useful. I think it's better if you come home with me!"

Katherine knew Sandra meant well and felt a bit helpless. "Sandra, you're overthinking it. Actually, Alex agreed to let me stay here."

Sandra was stunned. "Alex agreed? He actually allowed his own wife to stay in another man's house? If he weren't my grandson, I'd think he was destined to be single forever!"

Katherine forced a dry laugh. "Sandra, Alex thinks I'm safer here. He discussed it with Mr. Bernard Mitchell. Please don't worry, nothing you fear will happen between Mr. Bernard Mitchell and me."

Sandra could see that Katherine had no intention of returning to the Melville mansion with them, so she could only sigh regretfully. "Katherine, if you want to stay here, I can't force you to leave. But I hope you take good care of yourself, and I hope you'll give Alex another chance. He truly cares about you! There's nothing between him and Sophia, I can guarantee it! If I'm lying to help him, then let me..."

Katherine realized Sandra was about to make a dramatic promise and quickly covered her mouth. "Sandra, I've already decided to reconcile with Alex. When he returns from abroad, I'll go back with him. Don't worry."

Sandra's mouth was covered, but her eyes sparkled with joy. "Katherine, are you serious? You're going to reconcile with Alex?"

Katherine nodded. "Yes, I really am."

Sandra was over the moon. "That's wonderful! If you two get back together, it will be such a relief for me! By the way, does Alex know about this?"

Katherine's cheeks turned a light shade of pink. "Yes, he does."

How could he not know?

She had been worried sick about his trip abroad these past few days, doing everything she could to stay in touch with him.

If she guessed correctly, he must be feeling quite proud these days!

But she just wanted him to come back safely. As long as he returned safely, she'd be willing to be with him again.

Since hearing the news of his supposed death in an explosion, she had understood what it meant to be heartbroken and realized that her heart was beyond her control.

In this world, nothing was more important than his safety.
