Chapter 858 Don't Be So Reckless
At the entrance of Melville Manor, Katherine waved goodbye to Bernard and quickly walked into the yard.
Inside Melville Manor, Fiona was entertaining George, Edith, and Charles with a Machine Man kite she had bought through a friend. When she saw Katherine return, she called out to George, Edith, and Charles, "Your mommy is back. Go let her take you to play!"
Hearing Fiona, George, Edith, and Charles turned their heads and saw Katherine walking over from the entrance.
They dropped the kite and ran towards Katherine!
"Mommy!"
"Mommy!"
"Mommy!"
Katherine was immediately surrounded by George, Edith, and Charles. She squatted down, opened her arms, and hugged all three of them, "Yes, Mommy is back!"
Edith pouted unhappily, "Mommy, where did you go? You left us with Aunt Fiona again! Aunt Fiona has a date later and has been talking about it for a long time!"
Katherine looked up and saw Fiona walking over, holding an umbrella. She raised an eyebrow, "You have a date, why didn't you call me?"
Fiona shrugged, "I did call! Katherine, you didn't answer any of them!"
Katherine was taken aback, remembering why her phone was on silent, and a blush crept up her cheeks.
"Sorry, I didn't see the calls. Now that I'm back, you should hurry to your date!"
Fiona was indeed eager to go on her date; Nathan had been waiting for her for a long time. However, she still wanted to complain about George, Edith, and Charles. "You three! The moment you see your mommy, you forget all about me and even snitch on me for talking about her!"
George looked innocent, "Aunt Fiona, Charles and I didn't say anything. It was Edith who told Mommy. She has the biggest mouth!"
Edith got angry when she heard George say she had a big mouth. She put her hands on her hips, "George, who are you calling big-mouthed? Don't forget, you look a lot like me. If my mouth is big, yours isn't small either!"
George glared at Edith indifferently, "I wasn't talking about the size of your mouth. I meant you can't keep a secret!"
Edith got even angrier, "You're the one who can't keep a secret! If I want to keep a secret, I can! I wouldn't tell anyone!"
George raised his chin, "Like what?"
Edith angrily said, "Like I preferred the brother we had when you weren't here a few days ago. I don't like you! You just bully me!"
George was annoyed, "If you like him, go find him! I don't like having a noisy sister like you either! When I was alone at dad's place a few days ago, it was so peaceful. If I didn't miss mommy, I wouldn't have come back!"
Edith shouted, "I'm never talking to you again!"
Feeling upset, Edith threw herself into Katherine's arms.
Katherine hugged Edith and looked sternly at George, "Is that how you talk to Edith?"
George said, "Mommy always sides with Edith."
Charles, being a bit older, patted George's shoulder, "George, we are the older brothers. We should be more considerate of Edith."
George was very unhappy, "You're the older brother! Edith and I were born on the same day, we're the same age. Why should I be more considerate of her?"
Edith turned her head from Katherine's arms, angrily pointing at George, "George, I don't want to be your sibling anymore!"
George, equally stubborn, said, "Fine! I don't like having such a spoiled sister either!"
"Mommy, be our witness. From now on, we're not siblings!"
"Mommy, make it official."
Katherine was already very tired and now had to deal with this. She was quite annoyed.
Just as she was about to persuade George and Edith to stop arguing, Fiona suddenly intervened and pulled George and Edith aside.
"Wait a minute? What did I just hear? Edith, what do you mean by the brother before he came back? George, what do you mean by staying at Dad's place? Explain this to me!"
George and Edith didn't know where to start or if they should say anything. Katherine probably wouldn't allow them to talk about it. They had let it slip in their argument!
Fiona, not getting an answer, asked again, "Well, are you two hiding something from me?"
Katherine pulled George and Edith back to her side, "Alright, don't you have a date to go to? Aren't you in a hurry?"
Fiona frowned, "I'm already late. I just contacted Nathan and rescheduled for a bit later! Katherine, did you hear what George and Edith just said? Don't you think it's strange?"
Katherine had heard it and knew what they were talking about because she was aware of the whole situation. But she didn't want to discuss it with Fiona, who, like Edith, couldn't keep a secret.
Katherine stood up, deliberately changing the subject, "I'll handle the issues between them. You should go upstairs and get ready. Don't you want to look pretty for your boyfriend?"
Fiona hadn't done her makeup yet and, seeing the time, realized she needed to hurry. As for George and Edith's strange words, she could ask about them later when she got back!
"Alright, I'll go upstairs and get ready then!"
As she was about to turn and go inside, she suddenly noticed the ambiguous marks on Katherine's neck. Her eyes widened, and she stopped in her tracks!
Katherine felt awkward under her stare, "What's wrong? Why are you looking at me like that?"
Fiona stopped and seriously pulled Katherine aside where the kids couldn't hear, "Katherine, tell me the truth, where did you go this morning?"
"I went out with Sunny to help him with something. You saw that, didn't you?"
Fiona frowned, "I saw you go out with him, but I didn't see what you did! Katherine, don't be so reckless!"
