Chapter 150 She Means Nothing to Alex

Alex raised his sharp eyes. "Who?"

Katherine felt Alex was missing the point and shoved the phone into his hand. "Just answer it, sounds like something urgent!"

Alex squinted deeply at her before slowly putting the phone to his ear.

After hearing the cries for help on the other end, the man's calm expression suddenly tightened. He stood up abruptly and asked in a deep voice, "Where are you? Alright, stay there and don't move. I'm coming right away!"

After hanging up, Alex hurriedly started to leave but suddenly paused, looking intently at Katherine.

Katherine shrugged indifferently. "Alex, go ahead. I'll be fine on my own!"

He furrowed his brows complicatedly. "Be good, I'll be back soon!"

With that, Alex hurried away.

Katherine stood there in a daze for a while, as if hearing her mother say the same thing years ago in the hospital, "Be good, Mommy will be back soon."

Then, her mother never came back.

An hour passed, and Katherine finished her cake and scrolled through short videos on her phone.

Alex, who said he'd be back soon, still hadn't returned.

Could something really have happened?

She didn't even know which ward Scarlett was in. Katherine had slept too much during the day and couldn't fall asleep now. After thinking for a bit, she got up and left the room, planning to find Alex.

She was in the VIP section of the hospital's inpatient department, where each patient had a private, high-end room. The environment was relatively quiet, and since it was late, most people were resting.

There were few people in the hallway. Katherine walked slowly towards the nurse's station, intending to ask which room Scarlett was in.

Before she reached the nurse's station, she saw police officers reviewing surveillance footage there from a distance.

They had already copied the necessary footage. The police left the nurse's station, and a doctor who appeared to be of higher rank escorted them to the elevator.

The police waved their hands. "Alright, no need to see us off. Thanks for your cooperation tonight."

The doctor replied politely, "It's our duty! You guys have worked hard coming out so late!"

The police left.

Katherine heard a few nurses at the station gossip.

"So scary, who would've thought there'd be a pervert in our hospital!"

"Perverts are everywhere. Everyone needs to be careful!"

"This pervert is really bold, daring to follow Scarlett in room 302. He's insane!"

"People like that should be chemically castrated once caught!"

"By the way, I just went to room 302 to take Scarlett's temperature. She was so scared, her face was pale, and she hasn't calmed down yet. She's been crying in her boyfriend's arms, so pitiful!"

"Is her boyfriend handsome? Is he the one who spent a fortune on the LED ad at Century Bank by Whispering Ripple last night, confessing his love to Scarlett?"

"Handsome? He's drop-dead gorgeous! More handsome than any movie star. I didn't dare look at him too long; my legs went weak just from a glance."

"Oh, your legs went weak? Are you that horny?"

"Stop it! But you can tell that guy is extraordinary, definitely from a prominent family like Scarlett. Such a perfect match!"

Hearing this, Katherine slowly walked past the nurse's station, roughly guessing what had happened.

Scarlett encountered a pervert and called Alex for help. By the time Alex arrived, the pervert had probably fled.

The police were now reviewing the hospital's surveillance footage to identify the suspect.

The nurses just mentioned that Scarlett was in room 302, which seemed to be not far away. It should be just around the corner.

Katherine turned the corner and quickly found room 302.

The door to the room was half-open, and there were quite a few people inside, including the police.

She didn't get too close, but her angle allowed her to see what was happening inside room 302.

In the room, Scarlett was trembling in Alex's arms, her shoulders shaking. "Alex, I'm scared."

Alex held her shoulders, gently patting her back to comfort her, and softly guided her. "It's all over now. Just tell the police what the person looked like. Do you remember any physical characteristics of him?"

Since Scarlett was hospitalized and couldn't go to the police station to give a statement, the police had to come to the hospital to do their work.

The man's comfort helped Scarlett calm down a bit. She took a deep breath and then tried to speak to the police as calmly as possible, "The man... he was wearing a striped shirt, glasses, a bit overweight, and about 5'7" tall."

The police nodded and took notes. "Alright, we understand. Scarlett, don't worry. We will definitely catch that person and give you an explanation!"

"Thank you." Scarlett politely thanked the police and then snuggled further into Alex's arms, seeking a sense of security. It seemed that at this moment, everything and everyone else would frighten her except for this man.

Scarlett said, "Alex, I'm scared... don't leave. I want you to stay with me."

"I'm not leaving." Alex gently patted her back and comforted her in a low voice.

The police finished their work and got up to leave. "Mr. Melville, we'll be going now. We'll contact you immediately if there are any updates on the case."

Alex nodded slightly. "Sophie, see the officers out."

Sophie's graceful voice rang out. "Officers, thank you for your hard work. This way, please. Take care."

Outside the room, Katherine saw that both of them were fine and nothing major had happened, so she lowered her eyes and turned to go back to her room.

"Katherine!" said Sophie.

Sophie, who had come out to see the police off, accidentally saw a figure in the hallway who looked a lot like Katherine. She quickly caught up to take a closer look, and sure enough, it was her!

Katherine looked at Sophie blocking her way, her expression indifferent. "Good evening, Ms. Jones."

Sophie looked at Katherine suspiciously, then glanced back at room 302, realizing that the half-open door allowed a clear view of Scarlett in Alex's arms. She understood and laughed. "Katherine, you saw it all, didn't you? I told you, once Scarlett comes back, you mean nothing to Alex!"

Katherine curled her lips slightly. Before Scarlett came back, she meant nothing to Alex either. What was the difference?

Sophie crossed her arms triumphantly and continued, "Let me tell you, Scarlett has known Alex since she was ten years old. Their relationship over all these years is something you can never break apart!"

Katherine, annoyed that Sophie was blocking her way, raised an eyebrow. "Ms. Jones, don't you think you're being a bit nosy?"

Sophie's face turned pale at Katherine's retort. Not seeing a hint of disappointment on Katherine's face, she felt like she had punched a pillow, and she was unsatisfied, so she gritted her teeth. "Hmph! Katherine, I can't wait to see the day Alex dumps you. Don't cry too hard then!"

"Sophie, who are you talking to?" A man's gentle and clear voice suddenly sounded from behind Katherine.
