Chapter 337 Alex Take Her Away
"Yeah, Ms. Galatea donated blood to a woman in a car accident."
"Why was she in Kryptonix City that day?"
Leander shook his head. "We couldn't trace her movements, but Bernard donated blood to the same woman. Plus, he scheduled an abortion for Ms. Galatea at the central maternity hospital in Janetrick, and it's set for today."
Alex narrowed his eyes. "Why would Bernard schedule an abortion for her?"
Leander's face turned serious. "He's always been protective of his sister. He might think the child Ms. Galatea is carrying is yours, so..."
Alex's eyes widened as he realized something. "Check if someone tampered with the pregnancy test results when I took Katherine for a check-up!"
Leander nodded. "Yes, sir, I'll check right away!"
Leander hurried off.
Alex remembered Katherine's confused look when she saw the pregnancy test results.
He put down his coffee, grabbed his coat, and rushed out of the CEO's office.
The secretary at the door stood up. "Mr. Melville, where are you going? The meeting later..."
"Cancel it!"
Alex barked and hurried into the elevator, looking urgent.
At Central Maternity Hospital, Katherine followed Billy to the operating room.
Bernard wasn't there, but Scarlett was sitting in the waiting area.
Scarlett stood up with a look of feigned concern. "Billy, isn't what Bernard is doing too cruel? After all, the child is a life."
Billy reassured her. "Scarlett, this was agreed upon by both parties. It's not your concern."
Scarlett sighed. "Let me talk to Katherine alone for a bit."
Billy nodded and stepped back.
Scarlett turned her back to Billy, smirking at Katherine. "Katherine, see? I don't even need to lift a finger, and the bastard in your belly won't won't see the light of day!"
Katherine's expression was calm. "So what?"
Scarlett couldn't hide her smugness. "So I won. I beat you!"
Katherine raised an eyebrow. "Oh? You think you've won?"
Scarlett laughed. "Of course! Once you lose the child, you won't matter to Alex anymore!"
The pregnancy test results from the day Alex took her to the hospital were tampered with by Scarlett.
Scarlett really went all out to keep Alex's heart!
Scarlett was Alice's daughter!
Alice was the 'best friend' who forced her mother out of the Mitchell family and took her place!
Her mother must have suffered a lot from Alice's schemes. Though her grandparents loved her, she had never seen the evil in people's hearts. Alice must have manipulated her.
Thinking of this, Katherine's eyes showed a hint of hatred as she looked at Scarlett. "Yes, you won! But it's not because you beat me; it's because you have a brother who'll do anything for you, no matter if it's right or wrong!"
Katherine found the irony in this 'brother' situation almost laughable.
Bernard, her actual brother, sided with the person who drove their mother to despair and fiercely protected that person's daughter.
All Bernard's brains were wasted on his work! Traitor!
Feeling smug, Scarlett said, "Jealous that I have a good brother? Jealousy won't get you anywhere! If you go through with the abortion, I might show some mercy and ask Bernard not to bother you anymore!"
Katherine chuckled. "Mercy? You, Miss Mitchell?"
Scarlett's face hardened, and she turned to shout, "Billy, Katherine said she's ready for the surgery!"
Billy responded, and the medical staff took Katherine into the operating room.
Scarlett sat outside, waiting confidently for the news. Once Katherine lost the child, she wouldn't be a threat anymore. There was no way she was going to let Katherine come back with an illegitimate child to win Alex's heart and claim the Melville family's assets!
But just as she was feeling triumphant, a tall figure appeared in the corridor.
Scarlett was shocked. "A-Alex, what are you doing here?"
Alex ignored her, striding forward and kicking open the operating room door, despite the medical staff's attempts to stop him.
Katherine was on the operating table, and the anesthetist was about to inject the medication.
The sudden intrusion startled everyone.
"Who are you? You can't barge in here!"
"Leave immediately! You're disrupting the procedure!"
Several staff tried to remove him, but Alex brushed them aside and walked to the operating table, looking down at Katherine.
Katherine, surprised to see Alex, frowned. "Alex? You can't just barge into an operating room like this."
Alex looked grim. "The child is ours. You can't decide its fate by yourself! Get up. You're coming with meright now!"
Katherine blinked in astonishment. What did he just say?
Seeing her stunned, Alex picked her up and turned to leave.
Katherine, momentarily dazed, didn't put up much of a struggle. She had never really intended to lose her child. The medical staff had been bribed to put on a show for Bernard and Scarlett, making them believe the child was gone.
But Alex's intrusion was unexpected; she didn't expect him to show up here.
Outside the operating room, Billy and the bodyguards blocked their way.
Billy said, "Mr. Melville, the surgery hasn't been taken place yet. You can't take Ms. Galatea from here!"
