Chapter 872 You're Cold

'There's definitely something wrong if they're in such a hurry to sell!' Katherine thought.

While she was carefully reviewing the email from Ambrosia, Katherine's phone rang.

She heard the ringtone but kept her eyes glued to the computer screen, skimming through the lines quickly. Her hand reached for the phone and answered the call.

"Katherine, what are you up to?"

It was Jonathan's voice. She hadn't seen him in a while and had almost forgotten about him.

"What do you want?"

Her tone was cold and businesslike.

Jonathan feigned disappointment and sighed, "Katherine, can't you be a little more enthusiastic with me? Our families are partners now! Treating a partner like this isn't very nice, is it?"

"Do you have something to say or not? If not, I'm hanging up."

"Wait!" Jonathan quickly stopped her. "It's about work! Aren't we friends? I just thought a softer opening would be better. Look at you, already annoyed with me!"

Katherine was indeed annoyed with him.

"What work-related matter?"

Jonathan, fearing she might hang up, got a bit more serious. "It's not convenient to discuss over the phone. I'll come to your office later to talk in detail. Make sure to set aside some time for me!"

Katherine frowned, a bit impatient with Jonathan's mysterious behavior, but she didn't bother arguing and agreed before hanging up.

After ending the call, Katherine finished reading Ambrosia's email, changed her clothes, and went downstairs. She instructed someone to take George, Edith, and Charles to preschool, then hurried out the door.

When Katherine arrived at the office, she had many things planned, but Jonathan was already waiting at her office door.

Seeing him, Katherine instinctively felt unwelcome.

Jonathan was smart enough to sense Katherine's lack of welcome.

But he didn't care and smiled calmly, "Katherine, you're one minute late! Even as the company's president, being late isn't good. As leaders, we should set an example!"

Katherine glanced at him disdainfully, "Thanks for the reminder! But Mr. Mostow, shouldn't you manage yourself first? Not going to your own company on a Monday and wandering here? Is that setting an example?"

Mocking him, Katherine pushed open the office door.

Jonathan shrugged indifferently and followed her in, "I'm on a field assignment, here to discuss work with you! As a diligent boss, isn't that setting an example?"

As Katherine walked to her desk, she felt Jonathan getting closer behind her.

It was typical of Jonathan to invade personal space while talking.

Katherine turned around and naturally pulled out a chair for him, "Mr. Mostow, please sit. Since we're discussing business, let's keep it professional. Don't get too close; it blurs the lines between personal and professional."

Jonathan smiled and sat in the chair she offered. "Thank you, Katherine."

After seating Jonathan, Katherine walked around to her desk, sat down, and looked at him calmly, "What business do you want to discuss? Go ahead."

Jonathan got a bit more serious, "It's about Silvershade Vale. Our families are collaborating on the development there. I have an idea to set aside a small area for an art district and wanted to get your opinion."

Katherine thought seriously about this idea, "Which area do you want to set aside for this?"

Jonathan replied, "It's hard to explain everything just by talking. If you have time later, we can go to Silvershade Vale together. I'll show you the specific location and explain my ideas and concepts in detail."

Katherine checked her watch, "I don't have time this morning. I have an important meeting soon."

Jonathan shrugged nonchalantly, "It's okay. I don't have anything important today. I'll wait here for you. After your meeting, we can go to Silvershade Vale together and grab a meal."

Seeing his determination to stay, Katherine said, "If you insist, then wait. The meeting won't be short. You can wait in the guest room. If you get bored, you can leave anytime."

Jonathan crossed his arms, "We're so familiar with each other. Why make me wait in the guest room? Can't I have a few cups of coffee in your office?"

Katherine frowned, "Mr. Mostow, it's better not to be so boundary-less. Although we're partners, we're also competitors. Many of our projects overlap. Don't you think it's inappropriate for the president of another company to stay alone in the Melville Group's office? I have many confidential documents here. Do you think I'd be comfortable with that?"

Jonathan spread his hands in mock grievance, "Katherine, we've known each other for so long, and you still don't trust me? I wouldn't peek at your confidential documents."

Katherine replied, "If you peeked at my confidential documents, I wouldn't mind. But this is the Melville Group. The documents belong to the Melville Group and concern the survival of the entire group. I must be responsible to all shareholders and employees. As a fellow manager, I hope you understand. If you insist on waiting for me to finish the meeting, please move to the guest room. Otherwise, you should return to the Mostow Group."

Jonathan sighed and reluctantly stood up, "I'm really hurt! I'm not here to steal trade secrets!"

Katherine said, "Regardless, you need to have a sense of propriety and avoid suspicion."

Jonathan finally agreed to go to the guest room, "Fine, I'll go to the guest room! Katherine, you're being really cold."

Seeing Jonathan obediently head to the guest room, Katherine raised her voice. "Mr. Mostow feels cold. Make sure the guest room is comfortable."

Jonathan turned back in surprise. "Katherine, it's warm outside and you're turning on the heater for me? Are you trying to make me leave sooner?"

Katherine smiled. "Didn't you just say I was being cold? I'm just trying to warm things up."
