Chapter 735 The Son Has Changed
However, there was no one there—only a black SUV had just driven away.
Katherine's tense expression gradually softened, and she turned back to 'George' with a gentle smile. "Alright, this is the last time. No matter what the reason, you can't run off alone again. I'll worry about you, you know?"
Julian stared blankly at Katherine, watching her soften from her previously stern demeanor and speak to him so gently. His resistance melted away.
Unlike his so-called 'mommy' named Sophia, no matter what that 'mommy' said to him, he always felt a strong aversion.
Katherine hugged Julian and gently patted his back. "George, you like robot toys, right? Don't cry. Mommy will buy you and your brother lots and lots of robot toys, okay?"
Julian knew his name wasn't George, but he couldn't resist the gentle coaxing of this kind woman. He nodded and leaned on her shoulder. "Okay!"
The mother and son reconciled, and everyone smiled knowingly.
Only Edith frowned, deep in thought.
In the Hotel.
When they returned to the hotel, George was already asleep in Trevor's arms.
After pushing Trevor into the bedroom of the suite, Sophia reached out to take George and put him to bed.
But as soon as her hands touched George, he started crying in his sleep. When she withdrew her hands, he stopped crying.
After several attempts, she couldn't successfully pick up George. Frustrated, Sophia frowned. "Why is he so restless even in his sleep?"
Trevor looked lovingly at the sleeping George, "It's okay. I can handle it. You should go rest too."
Sophia was annoyed, looking at the child she had raised but who was completely distant from her, "Trevor, don't you think Julian seems a bit different?"
Originally, Julian wasn't close to her, but he wouldn't reject her to this extent. It was very strange!
Trevor didn't notice anything unusual, "Maybe he was uncomfortable sleeping in the car and is a bit fussy. He's been mischievous since he was little, you know that."
Sophia sighed in frustration, thinking she would eventually lose patience with this child.
She was tired and didn't want to say anything more.
"Alright, I'll go take a shower first! Trevor, you should put Julian down and rest for a bit. Carrying him all the way here must have been tiring."
Trevor nodded slightly, "Okay."
After Sophia went into the bathroom, Trevor maneuvered his wheelchair to the bed, gently lifted George, and placed him on the bed, pushing him further in.
George, just adjusting to the new position, frowned slightly and turned over but didn't wake up crying.
Trevor pulled a blanket over George.
At that moment, George mumbled in his sleep, "Mommy, George wants chocolate... Mommy, hug me to sleep."
Trevor froze. 'George? Who is George?'
Why did his son mention a name he had never heard before?
He recalled what Sophia had said earlier, that Julian seemed different.
Trevor squinted and carefully examined his son's face but found nothing unusual.
Suddenly, he remembered the woman he saw on the park lawn today. That face seemed familiar.
Moreover, seeing her laughing and talking with a man gave him an inexplicable feeling of oppression in his chest.
Who was she?
Had they met somewhere before?
The Melville Manor.
When Katherine and the others returned, it was just in time for dinner.
Sandra came out to greet them upon hearing the commotion.
Katherine and Fiona led the three children into the house. Nathan had already gone back to school.
Sandra couldn't resist wanting to hold her great-grandchild, so she picked up the lightest one, Edith.
"Edith, tell me, did you have fun today?"
Edith sweetly hugged Sandra's neck and nodded, "Yes! It was very fun! Your food is also very delicious. My brothers, Mommy, and I all love it!"
The little great-granddaughter's sweet words made Sandra beam with joy, "Really? Then I will make delicious food for Edith every day!"
Edith nodded with a smile, "Okay, okay! But Great-grandma, George wasn't very happy today! He got scolded by Mommy for running off alone!"
Mrs. Sandra frowned upon hearing this, "What? George ran off alone?"
Edith nodded vigorously, "Yes, Great-grandma! You need to teach George a lesson. He can't make Mommy angry again! Mommy was almost in tears because of him today!"
Sandra bent down to put Edith down and reached out to pull Julian over to ask what happened.
Julian, however, acted like he saw a stranger and immediately hid behind Katherine!
Sandra was hurt by his reaction, "What's wrong, George? Why don't you want to talk to me? I just want to ask what happened. I won't scold you! Come here!"
Julian continued to hide behind Katherine, clinging to her leg.
He wasn't George. The reason he obediently came here was because he liked Katherine.
But this place was completely unfamiliar to him, and the people were strangers. He instinctively felt scared.
Even at home, Sophia rarely took him out to meet people. He often stayed at home with his dad, not seeing anyone else.
He was afraid of strangers, except for the gentle woman who brought him back.
Seeing his fear, Katherine helplessly said to Sandra, "It's okay, Grandma. I just scolded him today. He's probably a bit scared. You can talk to him later; he should be fine then."
Sandra looked worriedly at Julian, then at Katherine, and asked, "Katherine, what happened exactly? Is what Edith said true? Did George almost run off alone today?"
Katherine nodded, "Yes, he saw another child's toy and liked it, so he ran off to find it. But luckily, I noticed quickly and found him. I've already talked to him, and he understands now. He won't do it again."
Sandra, though not present, still felt a lingering fear from the close call, "Katherine, you really have it tough, taking care of three kids by yourself. They're at such a mischievous age, and it's easy for things to go wrong if you take your eyes off them. Thank goodness for you."
Katherine smiled, "They're my kids. It's not tough at all."
