Chapter 115 How to Tame a Wild Horse
Teresa furrowed her brows and said, "But..."
Katherine had already brought the horse out and interrupted, "Come on. Let's go for a ride."
Teresa was still worried and persuaded. "Katherine, do you want to reconsider? This horse is really difficult to handle!"
Katherine smiled and replied, "No need. I feel a special connection with this horse."
"Alright, but be very careful when you ride it!" she then said.
"Got that," Katherine replied.
Sophie followed them, leading the horse, and glared disdainfully at Katherine's back.
She thought, 'Just wait and see this self-righteous country girl get thrown off the horse, and then we'll see if she still talks about having a connection with it!'
Actually, Sophie's foot didn't hurt at all anymore, but she had to keep up with her previous act of being seriously injured.
Sunny rode over on a chestnut horse to find them. When he saw the white horse Katherine was leading, he was shocked and then tightly frowned.
"Katherine, you actually dared to bring Sugar out!" Sunny called out.
Sugar?
Such a handsome horse with such a cute name?
Katherine raised her hand to stroke Sugar's neck. "What's wrong? Can't it be ridden?"
Sunny jumped off his horse, put on the air, and advised, acting nice, "You can, but riding it might kill you! Sugar is my sister's horse, and it only lets her ride it. Anyone else who dares to get on its back gets thrown off hard!"
Katherine was slightly taken aback; this was Sunny's sister's horse?
"Which sister of yours does it belong to?" she asked.
Sunny replied, "It's Laura's! I heard from Pony that my dad gave it to Laura on her third birthday. Because Laura likes sugar, she named it Sugar! After Laura disappeared, Sugar never let anyone else ride it! So, I advise you to take Sugar back and choose another horse! Otherwise, if you fall off and get seriously injured, it's not impossible."
Katherine tilted her head to look at the white horse beside her. It didn't seem as fierce as they described, and the name Sugar felt strangely familiar to her.
"Sugar," Katherine tried calling it.
The white horse seemed to react, tilting its head to look at her and then nudging her head.
Seeing this, Sunny immediately pulled Katherine back a bit and yelled out, "Be careful! See that? It's already getting agitated! If you ride it, you'll definitely get thrown off!"
Katherine wasn't scared, calmly reaching out to stroke Sugar's face, gently soothing it.
Sophie walked over to Sunny and remarked, "Sunny, I just told Katherine the same thing, but she insists on choosing Sugar, so why not let her try?"
Sunny frowned seriously and refuted, "Sophie, it's very dangerous. You know how wild Sugar can be; it could be fatal!"
Sophie looked helpless and said, "But Katherine insists..."
Suddenly, there was a loud neigh!
Sunny quickly turned his head to see Katherine already mounting the horse, pulling the reins. "Sugar, go!"
Sugar was very excited. Its front legs lifted off the ground, rearing up and neighing.
Katherine on its back, if not holding the reins tightly, would have likely fallen off immediately!
The scene was extremely thrilling!
In the distance, Alex, who was about to race with Hilton and others, turned his head at the commotion and saw this thrilling moment!
Shocked and panicked, Alex immediately turned his black thoroughbred horse around and galloped over.
Meanwhile, after Sugar's excited neigh, it finally landed steadily on all fours and then happily carried Katherine towards the pasture. It didn't resist the person riding it, nor did it buck.
This made Sunny, who was ready to step in and rescue, freeze in his tracks, completely stunned.
Seriously? Katherine could actually ride Sugar smoothly?
How... how was this possible?
Sophie was also in disbelief. Not seeing the anticipated scene of Katherine being thrown off the horse and making a fool of herself, she was both disappointed and angry!
Why could Katherine manage to ride that stubborn horse? Even Scarlett wasn't allowed to ride it!
Teresa, still shaken, looked at Katherine with even more admiration, her eyes sparkling.
Wow! As expected of Katherine, she could quickly tame such a wild horse, let alone Alex!
After the false alarm, Alex, seeing that Katherine was out of danger, gradually relaxed his furrowed brows, pulled the reins, and slowed his horse down.
Alex squinted slightly, watching Katherine gallop in the distance, a hint of admiration flashing in his eyes.
Was there really nothing in this world that Katherine couldn't handle?
"Sugar!" After running a few laps on the field, Katherine pulled the reins to slow the horse down for a rest.
Sugar obediently slowed down, walking leisurely.
Katherine stroked its mane and asked, "Do you miss your owner?"
The horse couldn't speak but made some animal sounds, seemingly giving her an affirmative response.
"Katherine! Katherine!" Teresa called out.
She rode over, bringing her horse alongside Katherine's, matching her speed to walk together.
"Katherine, you're amazing! You actually managed to tame this difficult horse! My admiration for you has deepened even more!" she then added.
Katherine twitched her mouth and shook her head. "Sugar has a good temperament. It just has a bit of an obsession."
"That's because you're amazing, Katherine! Others can't handle Sugar!" Teresa yelled out.
Sophie and Sunny also rode over.
Sunny looked at Katherine with bright and proud eyes. "Katherine, I didn't expect you to be so capable! Tell us, how did you get Laura's horse to listen to you?"
Katherine replied calmly, "There is no special technique. I just felt a connection with it, so I handled it."
Sophie couldn't stand Katherine giving herself so much credit! How could she talk about a connection?
She was a poor girl raised in the countryside. What kind of connection could she have with such a noble thoroughbred horse?
If it weren't for Alex bringing her here today, she probably wouldn't have ever come into contact with such an expensive thoroughbred horse in her lifetime!
Sophie sneered quietly, "Katherine, since you can handle Sugar so well, why don't we have a race?"
Katherine raised an eyebrow at Sophie, then glanced mockingly at her injured foot. "Ms. Jones, is your foot okay? I wouldn't want any accidents blamed on me again."
Sophie forced a stiff smile. "Katherine, the previous incident was a misunderstanding, and I already apologized to you! Can't you just let it go?"
When no one was around, Sophie showed her blatant hatred for her. In front of others, Sophie acted so naturally and kindly that it almost made one reluctant to expose her.
Katherine shrugged and smiled faintly. "I was just joking! If you want to race, I have no objections."
