Chapter 759 Bernard's Gone Astray
Bernard furrowed his brow and thought for a moment. What Trevor said was indeed correct. If he took George away now, he would be left without any children, and when Sophia returned, he wouldn't be able to explain.
However, leaving George here with that vicious Sophia made Bernard uneasy.
George seemed to know what Bernard was worried about. He tugged on Bernard's clothes and said, "Uncle Bernard, I've been with this cool guy for several days now, it's fine! Just don't tell Mommy yet, or she'll get worried!"
Bernard pinched the bridge of his nose. This was the best he could do.
No wonder Katherine said George had been running around a lot lately; it turned out the two kids had been switched!
It had to be said, this was quite a coincidence.
Bernard stared at Trevor sternly and warned, "Make sure you take good care of him, or I won't let you off!"
Trevor nodded calmly, "And please have Katherine take good care of Julian."
At this moment, in the suite next door, Sunny was pressing himself against the wall, trying to listen in, but unfortunately, he couldn't hear anything.
The suite was too big, and the room separated by a wall was still a bedroom, with excellent soundproofing. It was too difficult to hear anything!
He had secretly followed Bernard here, first seeing Bernard enter the suite across the hall, and then, after a while, seeing Bernard come out and knock on the door of the suite next to his.
Sunny couldn't understand what was going on. He originally thought Bernard had come here to see his girlfriend.
But seeing this situation, he was puzzled.
If Bernard was in a relationship, wouldn't it make sense to share a room with his girlfriend? Why book two rooms across from each other?
Could it be that Bernard's girlfriend was a married woman?
So they were using this trick to avoid suspicion?
If that were true, Bernard was really being reckless!
If they got caught, the Mitchell family's reputation would be ruined!
Grandparents would be furious.
The more Sunny thought about it, the more wrong it seemed. Sunny paced back and forth in the temporary suite, trying to come up with a plan.
He couldn't think of a good solution, so he took out his phone and called Katherine.
At this time, Katherine had just finished lunch and was busy with work.
She answered the phone absentmindedly.
"Katherine, it's me!" Sunny.
Katherine said, "I already ate, so I can't share my meal with you. You'll have to grab something on your own!"
Sunny quickly responded, "No, no, Katherine! There's something else!"
Katherine typed on her keyboard and said, "What is it? Make it quick, I'm busy!"
Sunny said, "It's about Bernard! I think he's making some bad choices!"
Katherine frowned, thinking Sunny was being ridiculous again.
When she saw him this morning, she thought he had matured a lot, but now, hearing his tone, it felt like nothing had changed in the past three years.
"Bernard's issues should be taken to your family elders. There's no point in telling me. Anything else? If not, I'm hanging up!"
Sunny was really anxious. "Don't hang up! Katherine, this can't be known to my family elders! Come over and help me. Let's figure out a way to get Bernard back on track!"
Katherine was a bit annoyed, "What's wrong with Bernard?"
Sunny said, "I was passing by the Mitchell Group at noon today and saw Bernard driving out alone. I was curious, so I followed him! I found out he went to a hotel and booked a suite. Booking a room in the middle of the day, do you think that's normal?"
Katherine thought Sunny was incredibly bored, even following Bernard.
"So what if he booked a room at noon? Bernard is an adult; he has his reasons for what he does. It's not right to invade someone's privacy, even if it's your brother!"
Sunny said, "I haven't finished! After Bernard booked a high-end suite, he didn't stay long. He came out and knocked on the door of the suite across the hall. Someone opened the door for him, and he went in! He hasn't come out since!"
Katherine pinched the bridge of her nose, "So? You've been staking out Bernard at the door to see who he's sharing a high-end suite with?"
Sunny, anxious, raised his voice, "I've explained it so clearly, how do you still not get it? If it were a normal booking, I wouldn't be staking out here! Don't you think it's strange? If Bernard was here to see someone, he could just knock on that door and go in. Why go through the trouble of booking a room across the hall? It's very unusual! Something's definitely up!"
Katherine curled her lips, "Whether Bernard's behavior is suspicious or not, you shouldn't be staking out there! Go do something else, or I'll call Bernard right now and tell him you're spying on him. Let's see how Bernard will deal with you then!"
Sunny panicked, "No! Katherine, I trust you, that's why I called you. Don't betray me, okay? I'm afraid Bernard might be infatuated and having an affair with some married woman. I need you to come over and help me confront him. I can't do it alone.
If Bernard is really having an affair, we need to stop him before things get worse. If he's not, you can help calm him down so he doesn't get too angry with me."
Katherine rolled her eyes and scolded him, "I don't care. Alright, stop causing trouble! Bernard is not the type to be easily swayed by lust. Didn't you say you were going to pick up the kids with me after work? If you come now, I might take you along! If you're late, I won't wait for you."
Sunny replied, "Alright, maybe I'm overthinking it. Wait for me, I'm coming to find you."
As he spoke, he walked to the door, pulled out the room card, and opened the door to leave.
He just felt something was off. Even if Bernard wasn't having an affair, the fact that he was being so secretive about meeting someone meant that the person wasn't just anyone.
Sunny pondered as he walked out. While waiting for the elevator, the elevator next to him opened.
At this moment, he had already entered the other elevator. Just as the doors were closing, he saw Sophia step out of the other elevator and walk past his elevator door!
Sunny's eyes widened. Afraid he had seen wrong, he pried open the almost-closed elevator doors and ran out to confirm.
