Chapter 215 Katherine Is not That Kind of Person
On the other side, Sunny finally finished grilling a batch of his secret recipe chicken wings. He had added a special ingredient to the sauce and was confidently carrying the plate to let Katherine try them, to show her what real grilled chicken wings tasted like!
However, when he looked up, he realized there was no one there!
Where did they go?
He remembered that Scarlett had taken Katherine over there to chat. When did they both disappear?
Sunny scratched his head in confusion, then carried the chicken wings into the villa to find them.
Sunny looked around the villa's living room but didn't see Katherine. Instead, he saw Bernard and Scarlett sitting on the sofa talking.
So, he walked over with the chicken wings and straightforwardly asked, "Scarlett, where's Katherine?"
Scarlett was leaning weakly against Bernard, looking pale and speaking feebly, "Sunny, Katherine..."
Seeing this, Bernard frowned in concern and gently patted Scarlett's back to ease her coughing.
Then he glared at Sunny, who often seemed unoccupied, and said sharply, "What do you need Katherine for?"
Facing the stern Bernard, Sunny instinctively felt pressured and awkwardly raised the plate of chicken wings. "I... I finished grilling the wings and wanted her to try them."
Bernard's eyes narrowed coldly, looking at the unmotivated Sunny with a sarcastic tone. "Scarlett is not feeling well, and you don't even seem to care. Instead, you're eager to bring food to someone else!"
This took Sunny aback. He immediately looked at Scarlett with concern, only then noticing her poor condition. He quickly asked, "Scarlett, are you feeling unwell? Did you catch a chill in the yard earlier?"
He had been so focused on showing off his grilling skills to Katherine that he hadn't noticed Scarlett's discomfort!
Scarlett coughed weakly a couple of times and waved her hand. "No, it's nothing."
Seeing Scarlett trying to be strong despite her discomfort made Sunny even more worried. "Scarlett, do you need to go to the hospital?"
Bernard gently comforted his sister and then coldly lectured his careless brother, Sunny. "You were just outside and didn't even notice that Katherine was bullying Scarlett ? And now you want to bring chicken wings to Scarlett's bully! Do you think you deserve Scarlett's usual care for you?"
Sunny was stunned. "What? Katherine bullied Scarlett?"
Bernard's face darkened. "Why else do you think Scarlett, who was fine, suddenly fell ill?"
Sunny was puzzled. "Scarlett, what happened? Weren't you chatting with Katherine at the pavilion? What happened? I was just focused on grilling the wings and didn't notice anything else!"
Scarlett lowered her eyes and shook her head silently, looking like she didn't want to talk about it.
Bernard, however, didn't intend to cover up Katherine's wrongdoing. With a stern face and a tense jaw, he said, "She made Scarlett kneel and then kicked her, causing Scarlett to fall to the ground!"
Scarlett wiped her tears in grievance and sensibly advised, "Bernard, please stop. Don't make Sunny worry."
Sunny frowned in confusion and asked, "That's impossible! Scarlett, there must be some misunderstanding. Katherine wouldn't do that; she's not that kind of person!"
Hearing Sunny's reaction, Scarlett was genuinely stunned. She almost couldn't believe what she heard. Sunny, who always unconditionally defended her, was actually speaking up for Katherine?!
She felt a wave of displeasurebut still maintained a kind and understanding demeanor. "Sunny, don't worry about me! She probably didn't mean it. Let's just forget about it."
Sunny nodded without hesitation. "Yeah! I do think she didn't mean it as well. There must be some misunderstanding. I'll go ask her about it later!"
Scarlett fell silent. She couldn't believe it!
Sunny, her own brother, trusted Katherine's character so unquestioningly!
What kind of spell had Katherine cast on Sunny?
Bernard, with a stern face and narrowed eyes, watched all this. He spoke harshly and sarcastically, "You have a lot of faith in Katherine's character, don't you? What did she give you in return?"
Feeling pressured by Bernard's expression, Sunny still said, "She didn't give me anything, but she has helped me a few times without asking for anything in return. I think she's a very good person!"
Bernard's eyes flashed with coldness. "That's it? So you're saying Katherine is a good girl, and Scarlett is falsely accusing her?"
Sunny shook his head and insisted. "I didn't mean that! I just think there must be some misunderstanding. Katherine couldn't have bullied Scarlett; she's definitely not that kind of person!"
Definitely!
How sure must Sunny be to use the word "definitely"?
Sunny rarely contradicted Bernard, but today, for Katherine, he found the courage to stand up to him. Sunny just couldn't stand hearing Bernard talk about Katherine like that!
The Mitchellbrothers seemed to be arguing, attracting the attention of others.
One guest said, "Is Bernard and Sunny arguing? What happened?"
A second guest added, "Miss Mitchell seems to be crying in the middle!"
A third guest questioned, "Isn'tSunny usually afraid of Bernard? Why is he suddenly so bold today?"
A fourth guest remarked, "Who knows what's going on! Why are the brothers suddenly at odds?"
Bernard thoughtfully stared at Sunny for a while, his expression complicated.
From childhood to now, Sunny had always been like a mouse in front of a cat when he saw Bernard, not daring to breathe loudly.
At this moment, Sunny was showing rare courage for Katherine!
But it was misguided courage! Choosing an outsider over his own family!
In front of everyone, Bernard didn't want to embarrass Sunny too much and gave him an out. "Whether it is a misunderstanding or not, you should stay away from Katherine in the future. Don't interact with her much!"
Sunny frowned and stubbornly said, "She's my friend. I can't interact with her. Bernard, I'm sorry, but I can't listen to you this time!"
Bernard was furious. "You brat!"
Sunny refused the way out Bernard offered! For Katherine, he dared to defy him!
Sunny took a deep breath and mustered up the courage to say, "Bernard, don't forget that Katherine has helped our grandpa before. By all rights, she's also a benefactor to the Mitchell family. Isn't it a bit ungrateful to treat her like this?"
Bernard exclaimed, "You!"
