Chapter 128 Alex, Please Behave
Sunny nodded and helped Sophie, who was crying on his shoulder, to stand up.
Sophie stopped crying and tried her best to cooperate, but her right foot hurt so much that she couldn't put any weight on it. Her face was pale and sweaty, a state that couldn't be faked for acting.
Seeing Sophie in such pain, Sunny felt nothing but pity.
He then said, "Sophie, if you need help flying a kite, you can call me. Why struggle alone?"
Sophie choked back her pain and said, "Sunny, you're a boy. How could you be interested in something like flying a kite? I just thought it wouldn't be hard, so I wanted to try it myself. But I overestimated myself. I'm so stupid."
Sunny sighed sympathetically and put Sophie's arm over his shoulder. "Alright, Sophie, don't blame yourself. I'll help you onto the horseback first. We'll get back to the hotel and have the stable doctor check your injury. You are a dancer; it wouldn't be good to hurt your bones."
Sunny called Hilton over to help, and together, they lifted Sophie onto the horseback.
Then, Sunny led the horse quickly toward the hotel, followed by Hilton and others.
Sophie seemed to be in serious condition; hopefully, nothing bad would happen.
Alex stayed behind, sitting on his horse and looking down at Katherine and Teresa. "You two should pack up the kite. Don't get hurt."
Teresa grumbled, " Katherine and I won't get hurt on this flat grassland! Ugh, why does something always happen when Sophie is around? We just wanted to fly a kite to relax, but now it's ruined. So annoying!"
Katherine handed the kite reel to Teresa and patted her shoulder to comfort her. "It's okay, let's pack up the kite. We can fly it next time."
Teresa nodded. "Yeah, I guess that's all we can do!"
Alex rode a few steps forward and stopped beside Katherine, calling her in a low voice, "Katherine."
"Hmm?" Katherine looked up at the man on the horse. "Alex, are you calling me?"
He nodded and extended a large hand towards her. "Give me your hand."
Katherine hesitated, her eyes showing a bit of wariness. "Why?"
Alex frowned slightly. "I'll give you a ride. Don't you want to?"
Katherine shook her head in resistance. "No need, I'll walk back with Teresa."
Alex's face darkened.
Hearing this, Teresa quickly turned around and grinned mischievously. "Katherine, you don't have to wait for me. I actually want to spend more time alone with the kite!"
Katherine forced a smile. "Then I'll stay with you."
Teresa waved her hand quickly. "No, no need!"
As she waved, the kite reel spun rapidly, letting out all the line she had just reeled in.
Struggling to control the reel, Teresa chuckled, "Looks like I'll need more time to reel it in! Katherine, you and Alex go ahead!"
Katherine understood that Teresa was trying to create some alone time for her and Alex, but she couldn't explain that she and Alex didn't need it. Feeling helpless, she said, "Be careful not to get your hands cut by the kite line."
Teresa nodded cheerfully. "Got it, Katherine!"
Reluctantly, Katherine extended her hand towards Alex on the horse.
Her hand was enveloped by Alex's rough hand, and with a pull, she was swiftly seated on the horse.
The horse didn't speed up to catch up with the others but walked slowly on the grass.
Sitting on the same saddle, Katherine could feel the man's firm chest against her back, which felt a bit strange.
"Alex, aren't you in a hurry to check on Ms. Jones' injury?" she asked.
"I'm not a doctor. I can't help her with her injury," he then answered.
Katherine forced a laugh. "Makes sense!"
Alex didn't say anything more.
Katherine asked again, "Alex, what's your horse's name?"
"Max." Noticing Katherine seemed a bit distracted, the man leaned close to her ear and asked, "What's wrong?"
Katherine snapped out of it and patted the black horse's mane. "Nothing, it's a really good horse!"
"Do you like riding horses?" he asked.
"I think it's pretty nice!" Katherine answered.
Suddenly, Alex's arm wrapped around her waist, and he whispered in her ear, "Sorry you didn't have a good time today. Next time, we'll come alone, without them."
Katherine was taken aback. Was Alex joking?
There were only two months left in their collaboration. How could there be a "next time" for them?
He suddenly squeezed her waist seriously, and mockingly said, "You eat quite a lot usually, so why are you so thin?"
Katherine was a bit annoyed. "I like it this way!"
The man chuckled lowly, "Gain some weight. It feels better."
Katherine's face turned red, and she forcefully tried to pry his hand off. "Alex! Please behave, take your hand off!"
"Don't move. If you move again, I'll show you what real misbehavior is," Alex stated.
She shouldn't have gotten on this man's horse!
Alex and Katherine arrived late in Sophie's suite.
A group of people surrounded the bed, all concerned about Sophie's injury.
The stable doctor had already examined Sophie's foot and, with a serious expression, said, "Take this young lady to the hospital for surgery immediately. My equipment here is insufficient for a proper diagnosis, but based on my years of experience, Ms. Jones likely has a torn ligament."
A torn ligament?!
Leaning against the headboard, Sophie was already pale from the pain. She struggled to ask, "Doctor if my ligament is torn... can I still dance?"
The stable doctor looked a bit conflicted. "Uh... if it heals well, you can dance, but it might not be as flexible as before."
Sophie's eyes widened in disbelief. "I'm a professional ballet dancer. If I can't perform perfectly, what's the point of living!"
Sunny tried to console her. "Sophie, don't be too upset. Let's focus on getting you treated first! After you recover, it might not affect you as much!"
Hilton also offered some comforting words before going to contact the nearest hospital for an ambulance.
Sophie, looking ashen, silently shed tears for a while before taking out her phone to make a call.
When the call was answered, Sophie choked up, "Hello? Scarlett, I might not make it. In our next life, let's still be best friends. You have to take care of yourself."
After hanging up, Sophie fainted from the pain.
Sunny was startled and shook Sophie's shoulders in worry. "Sophie, what's wrong? Wake up! Doctor, come check on her!"
The stable doctor came forward, checked her eyes, and said, "She's fine; she just fainted from the pain and emotional stress. But she still needs to be taken to the hospital quickly!"
At that moment, Sunny's phone rang.
Seeing the caller ID, Sunny's expression tightened, and he quickly answered, "This is Sunny. Scarlett, I'm with Sophie! Don't worry, Sophie just fell and got a bit hurt. She's a bit emotional but not in any life-threatening danger! Sis, don't worry, I'll take good care of Sophie! Yes, Alex is here too! Oh, okay."
Sunny turned and walked towards Alex with the phone. "Alex, it's Scarlett. She wants to talk to you."
