Chapter 524 Leaning Against the Wall
Bernard glanced sideways at the door and said, "Officers, please come in. Help the Mitchell family make a clean sweep and take her away to face the punishment she deserves!"
Scarlett was stunned. The police were here? She instinctively looked towards the door...
Sure enough, several tall and stern officers walked in. Two of them first went over to handcuff Sophie, while the rest came directly towards her, bending down to help her up.
Seeing this, Scarlett immediately snapped back to her senses, desperately struggling to shake off the handcuffs that were already on her wrists, and said while being uncooperative, "What are you doing? On what grounds are you arresting me?"
The leading officer said, "Miss Mitchell, you are suspected of inciting others to hire a hitman. We need you to come to the station to cooperate with the investigation!"
Scarlett sneered a few times, "Saying I hired a hitman? What evidence do you have? Is it that bitch Katherine who called the police to have you arrest me? She has no proof, so why should I go to the station with you for an investigation!"
The officer, with a businesslike and serious expression, said, "Ms. Galatea provided us with very strong evidence. In the recording she gave us, we clearly heard you inciting Sophie to hire a hitman to harm Katherine. So now you must come with us to the station for investigation!"
Scarlett was stunned but did not completely believe it, "What recording? Where did the recording come from?"
Her own hands had destroyed the original copy of the recording. How could Katherine have gotten a recording?
Seeing her going crazy and being uncooperative, the officer didn't want to use force on her, so he took out a small player and played the evidence for Scarlett...
The player initially played the real, unedited recording of Scarlett and Sophie's conversation.
Scarlett was completely dumbfounded. How could this be...She had clearly deleted it, so how could it reappear?
Scarlett glared at Katherine with hatred, "You... it was you, but how could you..."
Katherine slightly smirked. This was easy-peasy for her.
Scarlett had indeed deleted the real recording, but Katherine had used technical means to infiltrate Scarlett's phone operating system, recover the original recording, and hand it over to the police.
Now, Scarlett had no way to defend herself and had to be taken away by the police along with Sophie.

Katherine revealed with a smile, "Miss Mitchell, you spend all day scheming against this and that, but you don't keep up with recent technology. You're a bit outdated! Haven't you seen holographic projections?"

'That damn Katherine, she actually thought of using technology to play tricks. It's simply too despicable!' Scarlett cursed mentally
The police lost their patience and, regardless of her willingness, forcibly escorted Scarlett out...
After Scarlett was taken away by the police, Vincent and Hellen couldn't help but let out a sigh!
Alas! After all, Scarlett was their beloved granddaughter for many years. Now that she had fallen to the point of going to prison, how could they feel nothing inside?
But they also knew that Scarlett was no longer the Scarlett of her childhood. She had to pay for her misdeeds!
Bernard watched as the police took Scarlett away, his eyes filled with indescribable complexity.
After retracting his gaze, he looked at Katherine.Seeing the bandage wrapped around Katherine's forehead, he felt both heartache and relief that she was still alive!
He couldn't help but open his arms to embrace Katherine, "Thank goodness you're still here! Katherine, thank goodness you're okay! Do you know, you scared me to death..." Bernard exclaimed with relief.
Katherine was suddenly hugged tightly. She didn't struggle nor immediately reject Bernard's actions, but she didn't fully accept them either. She just remained calm and still.
She was fine; she just had a head injury that bled a bit.
Since she was almost hit by a car three days ago, Katherine knew it wasn't an accident. She had been cautious and had sewn in a ring of high-elasticity sponge pads into her pants to protect her abdomen in case of another accident, minimizing the damage.
The head injury wasn't too serious, but it wasn't mild either. Fortunately, the baby was not too affected by the impact and wasn't in danger. She just needed to rest for a while.
In the emergency room, she had the doctor come out and claim that their resuscitation attempt on her was unsuccessful in order to expose Scarlett's true colors and eliminate future troubles.
To prevent Scarlett from causing further trouble, Katherine had to handle it now while she was still early in her pregnancy.
Fiona, unaware of the true relationship between Bernard and Katherine, walked over unhappily, pulled Bernard away, and dragged Katherine to her side protectively, declaring her dominance angrily, "Bernard, do you know what boundaries are? Even if you have feelings for Katherine, you don't stand a chance! Katherine is my sister-in-law, Alex's woman! If you have any decency, stay away from Katherine!"
Bernard looked at Fiona, his brows furrowing. Although displeased, he said nothing.
Vincent and Hellen exchanged a puzzled glance. They had long noticed that Bernard was different towards Katherine.
Fiona, with her hands on her hips, wanted to continue criticizing the Mitchell family, but Katherine pulled her away, not letting her continue.
"Katherine, why are you pulling me? I haven't finished scolding the Mitchell family! This time, it's the Mitchell family who caused your car accident and almost gave Sandra a heart attack! I haven't settled the score with them yet!" Fiona said.
Katherine glanced at her, "It's better if you don't cause trouble. Let's go! Let's check on Grandma first. It would be bad if she were frightened."
Fiona pouted, "Do you know you scared Grandma? You didn't even give us a heads-up about playing dead? Do you know Alex almost..."
Fiona's words were cut off abruptly because as soon as they walked out the door, they saw Alex in the hallway, and they didn't dare to say more.
Alex was at the morgue door, hands in his pockets, leaning against the wall.
