Chapter 726 No Snatching Allowed

Katherine ignored Sophia and her gaze once again fell on the child in Sophia's arms. Because the child was wearing a mask, she couldn't see his facial features.

"How old is your child?" she asked.

Sophia replied, "He is two years old this year!"

Katherine's eyes never left the child's small face behind the mask.

Although the mask covered the entire face, the eyes were exposed, and they were very beautiful.

The child, realizing he was being stared at, looked back at her intently, tilting his head as if puzzled, looking very cute.

Seeing Katherine and Julian staring at each other, a fleeting look of caution crossed Sophia's face.

She deliberately put her hand between them. "Julian, have you chosen your balloon yet? Hurry up and pick one, Daddy is still waiting for us at the hotel! We can't keep Daddy waiting too long!"

Julian looked up at the balloons and finally chose a small dinosaur-shaped one.

After Sophia quickly paid, she smiled and said goodbye to Katherine, "Katherine, we have to go now. It was nice seeing you! Let's catch up over a meal next time.

Katherine just looked at her calmly and indifferently, neither nodding nor saying goodbye.

Sophia got into the black SUV with her child and left, the car quickly disappearing at the end of the road.

Katherine stood there, staring in that direction, but her mind was on the eyes of the little boy in Sophia's arms.

Those eyes were so familiar.

A large hand waved in front of her. "Alright, stop looking! She's gone!"

Katherine snapped back to reality and glared at Jonathan. "If you have nothing to do, you should leave too!"

Jonathan frowned. "Why are you always trying to kick me out? I don't have a car; how am I supposed to get home?"

Katherine showed no sympathy. "And whose fault is that? You insisted on riding with us."

Jonathan shrugged. "If I didn't, would you have let me come along? We clearly agreed to take the kids to the amusement park together, and I wanted to join in the fun too!"

Katherine couldn't hide her disdain. "I never agreed to that; it's just what you assumed."

Jonathan sighed. "So you're saying it was all in my head?"

"I didn't say that, but yes, it was your idea, not mine."

Katherine didn't want to continue the conversation. She turned her attention towards the kindergarten entrance, waiting for Fiona to bring out the three kids.

Jonathan suddenly spoke earnestly in her ear, "Katherine, you should take a page out of Sophia's book."

Katherine frowned. "What do you mean?"

Jonathan said, "Look at her. Even though she didn't get the love she wanted, she opened her heart to someone new, got married, had kids, and now she's happy. You should think about your own happiness."

Katherine sighed, knowing where this conversation was heading. "Jonathan, if you have nothing better to do, just go home. Stop lecturing me! Do you know how annoying you are?"

Jonathan shrugged. "Alright, alright, I'll drop it. I'll just quietly tag along to the amusement park with you and the kids."

Katherine ignored him and walked towards the kindergarten entrance. Through the gate, she saw Fiona leading George Melville and Edith Melville out, with Charles following behind with his backpack.

"Mommy!"

"Mommy!"

Katherine walked over, squatted down, and patted George and Edith's heads. "Did you listen to the teacher today?"

"Yes!"

"Yes!"

George and Edith had just started kindergarten recently and were still adjusting.

As a mother, she was quite worried that they might secretly cry because of the adjustment.

A few days ago, when she came to pick them up, George and Edith came out crying.

Today was better; neither of them cried and they were all smiles.

"Good! Mommy bought you balloons, go pick one you like!" Katherine said.

"Yay, yay!"

"I like the bunny one!"

George and Edith ran happily towards the clown selling balloons.

The clown kindly bent down to let them choose.

Seeing that the kids had successfully adjusted to kindergarten, Katherine felt relieved.

At this moment, she noticed that Charles hadn't gone to pick a balloon and was standing alone.

"What's wrong? Why aren't you picking one you like?" Katherine asked him gently.

Charles was a bit surprised. "Do I get one too?"

Katherine frowned. "Of course you do! Why wouldn't I get one for you?"

Charles's eyes lit up, and he smiled. "Thank you, Mommy!"

Only then did he dare to go pick a balloon, but he still stood aside, waiting for George and Edith to finish choosing before he picked his.

Seeing Charles being so cautious, Katherine frowned, feeling a bit worried.

Charles would be starting school next year.

As he grew older, Charles became more sensitive and less natural.

When he was younger, although he didn't speak clearly, he loved to express himself and had endless things to say to her.

After she gave birth to George and Edith, Charles seemed very happy and loved his younger siblings.

Later, he seemed to gradually understand the difference between biological and adopted children and became very cautious, speaking less and becoming unusually quiet for his age.

Katherine had watched Charles grow up, and she remembered all the hardships he had endured, feeling very sorry for him.

From the day she accepted this child, she had treated him as her own.

She didn't want to see Charles being so cautious; she wanted him to have the willfulness and temper of a child his age.

But Charles almost never threw tantrums.

As she was thinking about this, a commotion broke out over there.

After George and Edith had chosen their balloons, Charles picked the one he liked.

But when George saw that Charles had chosen a tiger balloon, he changed his mind and wanted Charles's.

Charles agreed to switch, but George wasn't satisfied and wanted both.

Charles felt a bit aggrieved and didn't want to give it to him.

George started crying and making a fuss.

Charles hesitated for a moment, pouting, and gave his balloon to George.

George was satisfied and reached out to take it. Before he could grab the balloon, his hand was slapped!

George was stunned and started crying again!

Katherine frowned and scolded, "We agreed that each of you gets one, and that's it! You chose first, so you can't regret it or take Charles's things!"
