Chapter 361 Recognized by Vincent!

"Grandpa, you're back!"

Scarlett ran to him, wiping her tears. Vincent Mitchell saw her red eyes and frowned. "What's wrong now? Why are you crying again? You're always upset over something! Your grandma and I aren't as picky as you!"

Scarlett went quiet. She wanted comfort but got a scolding instead, feeling embarrassed and unsure how to respond.

Growing up, she was pampered by her parents and brothers, but her grandparents seemed to favor Bernard and Sunny more. She always felt they preferred boys over girls.

"Grandpa, I didn't cry on purpose. Someone came to our house today and killed..."

Bernard interrupted, "Grandpa, it was a small issue, and it's resolved. No need to worry." He gave Scarlett a stern look and added, "You must be tired. Let them help you upstairs to rest."

Vincent snorted, "I think it's you are the one spoiling Scarlett! She's so delicate, always crying over the slightest thing!"

Bernard frowned, wondering if he had indeed spoiled his sister too much.

Seeing nothing unusual in the kitchen, Vincent signaled his attendants to help him upstairs to rest. As he left, the kitchen crowd dispersed.

Katherine yawned, "Alex, it's late. Let's go home."

Alex looked concerned, "Just let it go like this?"

Katherine shrugged, "Let it go. You can't wake someone pretending to be asleep!" She was referring to Bernard.

Bernard, escorting his grandpa, stopped and glared at Alex and Katherine. He knew she was mocking him but couldn't react with his grandpa nearby.

Scarlett, still in the kitchen, watched Alex speak gently to Katherine, feeling jealous and frustrated. Was everything she planned today going to end just like that? Why did Katherine always escape danger?

Katherine didn't want to argue, but Alex wasn't letting it go. The Mitchell family had wronged her too many times.

Without some lessons, they wouldn't get how serious this is!

But Alex didn't want to waste time there. Katherine was tired, and getting her home to rest was the priority. There'd be plenty of time to deal with them later.

"Alright, let's go home," Alex agreed.

He took Katherine's hand and led her towards the door. Just as they stepped out of the kitchen, a cane swung at them, aimed at Katherine!

Alex quickly caught the cane and shielded Katherine. It was the Mitchell family patriarch!

"Mr. Vincent Mitchell, what are you doing?" Alex asked, frowning.

Bernard looked surprised. "Grandpa?"

Vincent ignored them, his sharp eyes fixed on Katherine. He pulled his cane back and pointed it at her. "Were you the one talking just now?"

Katherine was startled but quickly composed herself. "Yes, I was talking. Is there a problem?"

Vincent scrutinized her. "Young lady, have we met before?"

Katherine glanced at Bernard, seeing wariness in his eyes. If she admitted knowing Vincent, Bernard might think she was trying to get close to the family.

She shook her head. "I don't think we've met. You must be mistaken."

Bernard looked puzzled, but Katherine didn't want to stay longer. She avoided Vincent's cane, took Alex's hand, and continued walking out.

"Wait!" Vincent's authoritative voice stopped her.

"Is there something else, sir?" Katherine asked, turning back.

Vincent stepped closer. "I remember now. You're the young lady who helped me at the waterfront last time. I recognize your voice!"

Katherine stayed silent, impressed he remembered her by voice alone. Bernard must see now that she wasn't trying to get close; Vincent recognized her first.

Vincent's stern face softened into a smile. "Young lady, have you been out of country? I've had my grandson looking for you. He kept saying he couldn't find you anywhere in Janetrick!"

Katherine found it strange Vincent was looking for her. She glanced at Bernard, realizing he hadn't really been searching. He just didn't want his grandpa to contact her.

"Sir, may I ask why you were looking for me?" she asked.
