Chapter 972 See Christina at the Club
"Your sister," Hudson sighed with a hint of regret as he mentioned Cheryl. "She had so much potential, was attractive, and had high emotional intelligence. It's just a shame that luck wasn't on her side."
Christina suppressed her discomfort and waited for him to finish speaking before she said, "Being an actress has always been Cheryl's dream. She has always worked very hard. I believe that if given a chance, she could become an outstanding actress."
Since she was here to apologize on behalf of Cheryl, Christina would say some good things about Cheryl against her will.
As long as this matter could be resolved, she wouldn't have to deal with any more trouble from the Russell family.
Hudson stood up with his wine glass and walked towards her. "There are many talented and hardworking people in this industry, but resources are limited. It depends on who can seize these opportunities."
He placed a glass of wine in front of Christina and stood quietly beside her, watching her.
Christina knew that Hudson wanted her to drink the wine to apologize on behalf of Cheryl and to seize the opportunity.
She suddenly began to regret it. Even if it was to get rid of the Russell family, she now regretted sitting in this place.
It was Cheryl's issue, so why did she have to endure this humiliation?
Christina took out her phone and checked it, but there were still no messages.
The Russell family hadn't contacted her, or maybe they hadn't come at all.
This was all just a scam!
"Is it true that if I drink this glass of wine, this matter will be over?" Christina asked.
Hudson smiled and nodded meaningfully. "Yes, if you drink this, I will consider giving Cheryl a chance."
"Alright."
Christina stood up, picked up her wine glass and the wine bottle, and poured herself another glass. "Here's to you, Mr. Graves. I hope you can give Cheryl more opportunities in the future!"
She tilted her head back and drank the wine, then placed the glass on the table.
Seeing her drink the wine, Hudson was very satisfied. He picked up his own glass and drank it. "Ms. Russell, you look so delicate, but you drink so boldly!"
After finishing his drink, Hudson returned to his original seat and gestured for Christina to sit down. "Since the misunderstanding is resolved, Ms. Russell, would you be willing to finish this meal with me?"
Seeing Hudson return to the farthest seat from her, Christina breathed a slight sigh of relief.
After all, it was daytime, and Christina thought he wouldn't dare do anything to her.
"Of course, today the Russell family is hosting. Mr. Graves, feel free to order whatever you like. Don't be polite with us."
Hudson smiled and began to eat. "Cheryl has mentioned you to me several times, saying you're beautiful and very likable to men. It seems she was right."
After eating for a while, Hudson picked up his wine glass again. "Ms. Russell, let's have another drink!"
Meanwhile, in the same club.
Bernard was never one to enjoy socializing, and he rarely drank with friends.
If it weren't for Easton Baldwin's persistent calls, Bernard wouldn't have left his work today.
"Bernard, you're always busy with work and have no fun. The key point is, you don't even have a woman by your side. Who are you staying single for?"
Easton's words almost made Bernard choke on his drink. He coughed.
His unusual reaction made Easton suspicious. "Bernard, your reaction is off. Do you..."
"Shut up!" Bernard stood up, his face darkening, and walked out. "You guys keep drinking. I'm going out for a smoke."
Outside the private room, he took out a lighter and lit a cigarette.
Through the hazy smoke, Christina's image vaguely appeared before him.
Bernard chuckled to himself. Could Easton's words have made him hallucinate?
After smoking half a cigarette, he turned to get some fresh air by the window. Suddenly, he sensed something was wrong and turned back.
This time, without the smoke, he saw clearly—it was indeed Christina!
The door to the opposite room wasn't fully closed. Through the gap, he saw Christina holding a wine glass, toasting an older man. They were very close, and from Bernard's angle, their actions seemed very intimate.
She was just a woman who would do anything for money. He had overestimated her before!
Bernard sneered, squinting as he took out his phone and dialed Christina's number.
When the phone rang, Christina was toasting. Seeing Bernard's call, she put down her glass and excused herself to answer the phone. "Hello."
"Where are you?"
Christina turned to look at Hudson, who was leering at her. She suddenly felt ashamed and didn't want Bernard to know about her family's mess.
"I'm having dinner with friends. I'll be home later."
"Friends? Really?" Bernard's eyes grew deeper.
Christina responded softly, "Yes, I'll be back a bit later."
Bernard said nothing, hung up the phone, crushed his cigarette, and returned to the private room.
Christina was puzzled by Bernard's call at this time.
But she didn't have time to think too much. She turned and walked towards Hudson.
She really didn't want to toast this glass of wine, but it seemed Hudson wouldn't let her leave easily. She had to toast even if she didn't want to!
"Mr. Graves, let me propose another toast." Christina clinked glasses with him and forced herself to drink another glass.
The Russell family still hadn't shown up. It seemed they really weren't coming!
Hudson was very pleased to see her finish the drink and began to reach for her hand. "Christina, you're so beautiful. Have you ever thought about entering the entertainment industry?"
"What are you doing?" Christina immediately pulled her hand back and stepped back uncomfortably. "Mr. Graves, don't do this. I'm just here to apologize on behalf of my sister."
Hudson had no intention of stopping. "Christina, don't be so unromantic! Come, let me hug you. You look so thin, you must be very light."
Christina began to feel scared. "Don't touch me. If you try anything, I'll call the police."
Hudson wasn't intimidated by her words at all. He stood up and walked towards her step by step. "Call the police? But your parents personally sent you to me. If you call the police, they'll be the first to be arrested."
"My parents?"
Christina understood. As she had suspected, Jared and Renee never intended to come!
This wasn't about apologizing; they were helping Cheryl finish what she couldn't do that day.
Her biological parents had sent her into the arms of a lecherous old man like Hudson for Cheryl's sake.
Hudson no longer held back and began to grope her.
