Chapter 907 Don't Cross Paths
Ambrosia responded with a smile and sat down on the chair Sunny had pulled over for her, falling silent.
What should she say?
She didn't even know why Sunny insisted on her coming here.
The awkward atmosphere was broken when Sunny pulled up a chair and sat next to her.
"Dad, guess what we just did?"
Edwin smiled gently and shook his head, "What did you do?"
Sunny, with a bit of a boastful tone, smiled at her dad, "We just had dinner with Katherine!"
Edwin was taken aback and actually showed a look of envy, "Really? What did you eat? Did she like it?"
Sunny replied, "We had seafood, it was just okay."
The light in Edwin's eyes softened, "What does she usually like to eat? Does she still love handmade chocolates like when she was a kid?"
This question was directed at Ambrosia because Edwin had learned from Sunny that Ambrosia and Katherine had known each other for many years and were very good friends.
Ambrosia shook her head, "We didn't have the means to eat handmade chocolates often when we were kids, and later she just stopped liking them."
Hearing Ambrosia say that they couldn't even have a little handmade chocolate when they were kids, Edwin felt even more bitter inside and sighed, "It's all my fault."
Ambrosia didn't say anything more. Although she knew how to say polite things, she couldn't bring herself to lie.
Indeed, it was all his fault.
He hadn't been a good father.
Seeing Edwin's mood drop, Sunny quickly changed the subject, "Dad, you've finished your IV and taken your meds, you're in good shape! How about Ambrosia and I take you out to the garden for some fresh air?"
Ambrosia stopped him, "It's almost dark, what are you going to show your dad outside?"
Edwin smiled good-naturedly, "It's okay, I've been cooped up in the hospital for a few days, I could use some fresh air."
Seeing that the Mitchell father and son agreed, Ambrosia didn't say anything more. She was an outsider, why should she care so much?
So, Sunny excitedly went to the head nurse and got a wheelchair.
Edwin was a bit helpless, "Sunny, I didn't hurt my legs, there's no need for a wheelchair! I can walk with you guys!"
But Sunny insisted, "No way! No matter what, you're still a patient, saving some energy will help you recover faster!"
In the end, Edwin couldn't argue with Sunny and reluctantly sat in the wheelchair.
Sunny pulled Ambrosia along to push Edwin out of the ward.
Just then, a few nurses passed by, pushing a hospital bed.
A woman was lying on the bed, receiving an IV. Her head was turned to the side, so her face couldn't be seen.
Originally, Ambrosia just glanced casually and didn't pay much attention, but when she saw Nora and Linda following the bed, her expression changed.
Wasn't that Brent's wife and youngest daughter? What were they doing here?
"Ambrosia, what are you spacing out for? The elevator's here!"
Sunny's reminder brought Ambrosia back to reality, and they all got into the elevator.
In the elevator, Ambrosia took out her phone and sent a message to her subordinates, asking them to find out why Brent's wife and daughter were at the hospital.
Sunny saw Ambrosia on her phone and was a bit displeased but didn't disturb her, knowing she was a workaholic!
When the elevator doors opened on the first floor, Sunny pushed Edwin out, and Ambrosia was about to follow when a few men in black dragged Joshua into the elevator.
Ambrosia squinted her eyes, feeling that something was definitely off!
Why was Katherine's abusive stepfather here too? And it looked like he was forced to come.
What was going on?
Claire had been moved from the high-end ward to a regular ward downstairs.
This was her own request. The high-end ward wasn't far from Edwin's, so she preferred to stay in a regular ward to be further away from him.
After the nurse settled her in the regular ward and gave some instructions, she left.
Nora and Linda, who had followed in, closed the door before coming to the bedside.
Claire was in a daze, her face looking very pale.
Nora knew the reason, sat by the bed, and held her hand, "You just saw Edwin, didn't you? You two really have a connection. You moved wards to stay away from him, but ended up running into him in the hallway!"
Claire said sarcastically, "Fate? If it exists, it's cursed!"
Nora sighed, not knowing what to say.
Claire continued, "Nora, my injury isn't that serious. Once the IV is done, help me get discharged."
Nora was worried, "You lost so much blood, how can you say it's not serious? The nurse just gave a lot of instructions to be extra careful, or it could get infected!"
Claire said, "I'll be careful after I get discharged, nothing will happen."
Nora frowned at her, "Claire, I know you want to get discharged because you don't want to see him. But we've already moved to a regular ward, we're not on the same floor, you won't run into him again! Running into him in the hallway was just a coincidence, it won't happen again."
Claire was silent.
She had indeed seen her ex-husband Edwin just now, but luckily she reacted quickly and turned her head, so the man didn't see her.
After not seeing him for over a decade, he had aged a lot, no longer the dashing playboy he once was!
He had grown old.
Seeing an old acquaintance brought back many memories Claire had tried hard to forget, putting her in a bad mood.
Staying in the same hospital as him made her uneasy and unable to rest well.
"Nora, my injury really isn't serious. But staying here makes me feel very bad."
Nora was helpless, "But you can't get discharged today! At least wait three days. If the doctor says your wound is fine after three days, I'll help you get discharged."
Claire knew Nora was concerned about her, so although she was unwilling, she didn't argue further and agreed to compromise.
Three days would pass quickly. As long as she didn't go out, she wouldn't run into Edwin.
"Okay, three days then."
The door to the ward was knocked on, and Linda, with impeccable timing, ran over to open it.
A few men in black were holding Joshua at the door and respectfully said, "Ms. Coleman, we've brought him!"
