Chapter 840 Boss Me Around?
Hellen and Vincent learned about the existence of this small secret room for the first time, but they had already guessed what was going on.
They exchanged a glance, sighed, and didn't answer Sunny's question.
Hellen and Vincent realized that all these years, Edwin had been sleeping separately from Alice, whom they had forced him to marry.
Without getting an answer from Hellen and Vincent, Sunny didn't press further. He just took a deep look at the small secret room, lost in thought.
The servants quickly brought the medicine and fed it to Edwin. During the process of giving him water, Edwin choked, coughed, and woke up.
Seeing Edwin awake, Hellen and Vincent breathed a huge sigh of relief.
Hellen stepped forward and held Edwin's hand, "Edwin, you're finally awake! You scared Vincent and me to death! What's going on? Why did you lock yourself in that small room and drink so much?"
After recognizing Hellen's face, Edwin looked around at the people staring at him, furrowed his brows, and said, "I'm fine. You all can leave now."
Hellen said with concern, "Look at your complexion, it's terrible. You drank so much and didn't eat anything, did you? Drinking like this can kill you, you know that?"
Edwin sat up and patted Hellen's hand, "Mom, I'm fine. Don't worry."
Hellen's eyes were red, and she was so worried she was about to cry.
Seeing Edwin awake and okay, Vincent got a bit angry, "You're an adult, yet you have no sense of proportion! Is this how you set an example for your kids? If Bernard and Sunny follow your lead, the Mitchell family will be doomed!"
Edwin glanced at Vincent, looking annoyed, and didn't respond or seem to take it in.
Hellen turned to persuade Vincent, "Alright! Say no more! Edwin just woke up, his mind isn't clear yet!"
Vincent muttered something but didn't say more.
Hellen stood up and instructed, "Go get some easily digestible food for Edwin. His stomach is full of alcohol! Also, call the family doctor to check on Edwin and see if there are any other issues."
"Yes!" The servants responded and left.
Hellen waved her hand, dismissing the extra servants.
She knew Edwin felt uncomfortable with too many people in the room.
"Edwin, when the food arrives, make sure to eat a little. Your health is important."
Edwin nodded, "I know. Mom, it's fine. You and Dad should go rest. Let Sunny stay with me."
Hellen thought for a moment and agreed, "Then Vincent and I will go back to our room. Make sure you eat something, don't make us worry anymore!"
Edwin nodded.
Hellen turned to Sunny, who was standing aside, "Sunny, stay here with your dad. Make sure he eats something, and call us if anything happens!"
Sunny obediently replied, "Grandma, don't worry! I'll take good care of Dad!"
With that, Hellen and Vincent left, and the room was left with just Edwin and Sunny.
Sunny pulled a chair to sit by Edwin's bed and asked with concern, "Dad, how are you feeling? Are you thirsty? Do you want me to get you some water?"
"I'm fine." Edwin shook his head, glanced thoughtfully at the door, and asked, "Sunny, where's Bernard? Hasn't he come back yet?"
Sunny replied, "Bernard is back, he's in his room! It was Bernard who told me you might be in the small secret room in your room, otherwise, we wouldn't have found you! Dad, you don't know, Grandma and Grandpacouldn't find you and even called the police! Next time, don't do this. If you want to drink, call Bernard and me to drink with you, don't drink alone secretly!"
Edwin looked at the more mature Sunny with great satisfaction and gave a self-deprecating smile, "I won't drink anymore. Besides, Bernard wouldn't drink with me."
Sunny thought about Bernard's personality and agreed it was unlikely.
"If Bernard doesn't drink, I'm here! I'm not a kid anymore, I can drink with you."
Edwin just smiled without saying anything.
Bernard would rather have Sunny come to find him than look at his father himself. He must really hate him.
"Dad, why is there such a small secret room in your room? I saw there's a bed and some of your clothes in there. Did you really live in there?"
Edwin's thoughts were interrupted by Sunny's question, and he responded, "It's nothing, it's been there for a long time. Sunny, I'm fine now, you should go too. It's late, you should rest."
Sunny shook his head, "I promised Grandma to take good care of you. I'm not sleepy, it's fine!"
Edwin frowned and said, "I'm fine, I don't need care. You go, and tell Bernard I'm fine."
Sunny then remembered that Bernard hadn't come over and might not know Edwin had been found!
He got up, "Alright, I'll go tell Bernard and come back to check on you later!"
With that, he quickly left.
Watching Sunny leave, Edwin's eyes gradually became vacant, staring at the ceiling, lost in thought.
Sunny returned to Bernard's room, knocked on the door, and went in.
"Bernard, Dad has been found. He's fine, just got drunk and slept in the small secret room you told me about!"
Bernard was still sitting on the sofa smoking, and he responded indifferently, without much emotion.
Seeing Bernard like this, Sunny felt a surge of boldness. He walked over, grabbed the half-smoked cigarette from Bernard's hand, and stubbed it out in the ashtray!
"Bernard, stop smoking! You used to hate the smell of smoke. Now the room is full of smoke, how are you going to sleep?"
Having his cigarette taken away, Bernard's brows furrowed in displeasure, "You think you can boss me around now?"
His sharp gaze made Sunny take a few steps back, but he didn't regret his actions.
"I'm doing this for your own good, Bernard! Smoking is bad for your health!"
Bernard stared at him for a while, then sneered, "Alright, go back to your room and sleep!"
Sunny felt that Bernard seemed off today and cautiously asked, "Bernard, is something bothering you? Are you worried about Katherine and Alex?"
